Thanks, Katie! And counting down is half the fun. It will be here before you know it. I am so happy that I had it done. I can't believe it's me!

From what I understand, a hematoma is due to active bleeding under the skin, while seroma occurs when Fluid seeps into a pocket under the skin. Not exactly sure why one or the other occurs. October will be here before you know it! I felt like I waited and waited to get my TT and now it's been a week already!

Thanks, Laura. I have done nothing today but doze in my chair. For some reason, I have just felt out of sorts today. I suppose it's just one of those "post-surgical" things. And my belly button hurts - ha ha! Such a silly thing!

Dr. Gerald Kirshenbaum - Considering Dr. Kirshenbaum

Oooo, but think how great you'll look when the skin is gone! wow, I remember last year when you were getting the wood ready for winter. That must be such a chore. Awesome that you added on to the house! Yes, I would imagine it would be really pricey to have plastics done up there. I only payed 5800 for my TT . . . I felt that was a pretty good deal! If I had done the BL too it would have come to 9300 (without implants). I decided to hold off on that though. He'll still give me a discount if I do it within the next 2 years. I feel surprisingly good for only being 6 days out, so I think that travel is definitely doable. On the other hand, it sure was nice to be in my own home recuperating. Decisions, decisions . . . You could always go to Mexico and get some sun while you're at it! -

If you feel like you're ready, then go for it! I kind of used the same type of math . . . they ended up taking 6 lbs with the TT and I figure I can lose another 10 (hopefully) and the boost it has given me is really awesome. Even if no one else ever notices, I will. So how are things in the wild north? -

Marie! Happy to hear that you're all settled in and have internet, etc. I think having a fill under fluoro is pretty cool, actually. I kind of like it. And it definitely lets you see how tight you are. -

Yep, you are starting very close to where I was. It's weird, cuz a year ago it seemed like it was going to take forever, but now that I'm here it all seems like it went so fast. I would have liked to have lost a bit more before the TT, but the timing just didn't work out right. My weight loss has pretty much been at a standstill all summer, so this may be as good as it gets. Nonetheless, I am really happy with where I am, and any additional weight loss will be a bonus. -
Hi Mimi. I think you're right about the dog ears. I was a little shocked when I first saw how far back he had made the cuts, but I think it will be really good in the end.

Thank you so much, Barb. I appreciate it. Hey, do you take folic acid? I think low folic acid has something to do with low red blood levels too . . . just a thought.

Okay, ladies, I have posted some new pics! I gotta tell ya, now that the swelling is going down I am really happy with how I look. I can't wait to see how it will be in another month! I'm also feeling quite good. a little tired, a little sore, but not too bad, all things considered. I'm so happy I did this! Dr. Gerald Kirshenbaum - Considering Dr. Kirshenbaum

Hi ladies. Just checking in about the tummy tuck. I guess the swelling I had on my side was a hematoma (blood under the skin) rather than a seroma (fluid under the skin). In any event, it started decreasing on its own so the doc didn't drain anymore yesterday. It's looking way better . . . just really really bruised. I actually feel pretty good. Can't do much, but I think I'm doing just as well 6 days out as I have after any other abdominal surgery. The recliner is my best best friend. I sleep quite comfortably and slept for 7 hours last night before waking up to take a pain pill. As for the difference in how I look . . well, it's still early but I can't tell you how exciting it is to look down and actually see my pubic area! Not that I want to spend a bunch of time looking at it, but "the flap" has been in the way forever! And when I take off my binder and look in the mirror, I can really see what it's going to look like when I heal and it's so exciting! I can't wait. I'm so glad I did this whole journey . . . it's the best thing I ever did both for my health and my self-esteem. No matter what point you're at on this journey, you will get there sooner or later and it's worth every minute of work you put into it. -
I wonder how long it takes for that weight loss to appear on the scale? You obviously LOOK smaller . . . I weighed today (6 days P.O.) and am exactly where I was the day of surgery. I'm hoping the 6 lbs he took off shows up on the scale sooner or later.

Yeah, working out would certainly help! I think I just looked so bad for so long in so many places, that I just didn't care anymore. Now I'm sort of feeling good about myself again and all the bad stuff is much more noticeable to me now! And, yeah, there is that whole 50 year old thing. Amazing what years and gravity do to you!!

Potatie starts her PS journey
minidriver replied to potatie's topic in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery
Hi Potatie. Congrats on your upcoming journey. From someone who just had TT a few days ago, I highly recommend finding the lift chair. I am using a regular recliner and, while it is very comfortable, I am unable to recline it by myself. I am constantly having to call out to DH when I need to get up or sit back down. Luckily he works at home, but I think the lift chair would have been really helpful. -
Oh yay! I went to the doc today and the swelling (I guess it was a hematoma, not a seroma) is starting to go down on its own, so he didn't drain anymore. He'll have me back in Thursday and will probably take out my stitches then if all looks well. I can see today that the swelling is going down, as both sides are looking more symetrical. I'll probably take more pics tomorrow when I shower. So I looked at both the hanky panky panties and online at Victoria's secret and it looks like there are lots of pretty, non-thong options available. I want some of those that are cut like a v in the front. I've always wanted to be able to wear those kind of panties. So did anyone else feel like their thighs looked really huge after their tummy was done? I look in the mirror now and I have total thunder thighs. Not sure why I didn't realize before just how big they are . . .
-
It's really not that bad. Not sure how it would be without the pain pills . . . the only thing that really hurts is that area of swelling. It's just kind of a deep ache.

Hey folks. I have posted some new pics, including side views that show the swelling. Oh my. I still don't think it looks too bad considering I just had surgery 4 days ago though. Here is the link: Plastic Surgery Pictures, Videos, Photos, Pics, Before, After, Cosmetic Surgery password: goobgone

I will have to look into those panties. I haven't bought anything sexy for so long that I don't even know where to start. I don't think I'd like thongs though . . . Hopefully I can find something sexy that still covers my butt!!

Wow, Laura, you look fantastic! I was feeling pretty blue today about how I look . . . the huge area of swelling over my left hip is pretty hideous. But then I looked at your pics and it made me feel better again. Not that you looked at all bad at first, but because of how great you look now. I just need to be patient and know that it will happen in time.
