  1. Yep, starting next week sounds great. Happy B-Day Buster from Keeley and Gracie May!!! Have a fun party!!! Mal, I have kind of mixed feelings about Dr. Amen. If you'd like to hear more about that, PM me and we can discuss it more. Jaime, I'm happy to hear you made it home safely. Hope you're feeling okay and that the flight wasn't too awful. Wow, everybody looks fantastic in the photo!! What a bunch of loverly ladies!
  2. Oh no! Oh, that sounds just awful. I've not ever had the "too tight" thing so I can't really say. I would think, though, that you might have some swelling from the fill/unfill/fill, so maybe that is adding to the tightness. Crud. Is there any way you can call Dr. K. in the morning before you leave?
  3. Wow, I can't believe the difference. You are so pretty. Hey, how are things with your dad? Do you have your CPAP yet?
  4. Holy crap, Marie! I can see a huge difference! You look great! And it's obvious from your "after" that you naturally have an hourglass figure. You are going to have a va-va-voom figure in the not-too-distant future. WOOHOO!!!! Lapbands rock!!!
  5. Hi Jeremy, and welcome to the best thread on lapbandtalk! I think Marie answered most of your questions . . . as for the hotel issue - Dr. K. does surgery at two different locations, although it seems like recently most everyone has had it done at the surgical center at Parker Hospital. There is a Holiday Inn just a few minutes from the hospital that is really quite nice and very convenient. When you schedule your surgery, Natalie will send you a list of hotels and when you call you can ask for a medical discount. It was still $110 a night or so (if I recall) but the convenience was well worth it. The rooms have refrigerators (great for the meds you'll be taking!), microwaves, and VERY comfy beds. Quite a few of us have stayed there and really liked it. Those of us from out of town do find that we sometimes don't feel quite as prepared as to what to expect as those who are local, so this is a GREAT place to hang out prior to your surgery and learn all the hints, tips, etc to make everything go smoothly. Several of the women on this thread are nurses and are incredibly helpful. So please ask away any time you need some help.
  6. Yeah, that has to be frustrating. I hate plateaus. Hate them hate them hate them.
  7. Hey there Dorky One! It's so nice to hear from you! Re: your restriction . . . have you tried eating a solid protein like chicken or salmon or something? Most of the time I don't feel any restriction until I try a bite of chicken or something and then it's like . . . oh. There it is. Softer stuff like enchiladas or chicken salad I feel like I could just eat and eat. Just a thought. I hope you don't have a leak. don't they have that thick stuff they can put it now to kind of seal it if you do though?
  8. OH NO!!! I worried so much that I was going to do that. Oh dear.
  9. I put ice in an ice pack and stuck the bottles in there. Then I showed them at the security line. The first person was kind of giving me crap, but then a supervisor came over and said it was no problem at all.
  10. Hmmm, I can't remember when I could finally sleep on my side. It was a few days at least. You're planning on sleeping in a recliner at home, yes? That should help. Make sure you keep up on your pain meds. Take it every 4 hours or whatever it is even if you don't think you need it right then. That will help keep you more comfortable. These next few days will not be all that fun, but trust me, it's worth it! And in a few weeks you'll be better than new!
  11. Hee hee. That's funny. My poor DH spent WAAAYYY too much time at Walgreen's when we were there. I wanted this, then that, then this, then that . . . .
  12. OH MY!!! Is mom asleep? There's a Walgreens a few blocks south of the hotel . . . you might see how she'd feel about getting them tonight. It helps lots.
  13. Ahhh, bummer (pun intended!). Well, the pain meds do help. I had pretty bad gas pains for the first week or so, then it just became kind of intermittent. Did you get some gas-x strips? I used a TON of them and they really did help.
  14. A RESCUE lab, of course :wink2: Wow, you sound great! How awful for that other woman, though, but I'm glad that her daughter found your mom. We really are lucky to have this site and especially this thread to prepare us. It would be so scary to fly in and have surgery somewhere and not really know what to expect. Now, you may not feel quite as good tomorrow as you do today, especially if the gas hits. Remember to walk walk walk. I became very familiar with the halls of the Holiday Inn.
  15. Well, now you just made me cry again. Geez. I have been such a boob the past two days. Our McNair program coordinator on campus is a 300+ lb African-American man and former Tennessee Titans football player. When I saw him yesterday afternoon he was very reserved about the election and didn't express much optimism or excitement. This morning, however, he sent out an email and said that he had spent this morning crying. He said he hadn't dared to believe that Obama could actually be elected and he hadn't wanted to get his hopes up. He talked about what this means to his nieces and nephews and their view of their place in America. It was awesome. Yay for Kay Hagen and her "godless" supporters!!
  16. YAYYYY!!!! Jaime is in bandland!!! Congratulations:thumbup::smile2::thumbup:
  17. Never mind. They're still showing a tie in N.C. Obama is ahead by 20,000 votes or something.
  18. Jaime - thinkin' about you babe!! It will be over before you know it!!!
  19. Shelbi, let me give you a great big hug and kiss of thanks for your volunteer work. I just received an email from a friend in Spain congratulating me on the results of the election and expressing the excitement of people in the rest of the world. It is a very good day to be an American. I am filled with hope.
  20. Yep. So many people worked so hard to make this happen. Did you see the joy on the faces of the people in the crowd in Grant Park? It was so inspiring. And what a beautiful First Family we will have.
  21. Jaime, girlfriend, GOOD LUCK tomorrow!!! Woohoo!!!! It was so great to see you and your mom in the pic. Post if you can and let us know how you're doing. Welcome to band land!!!! Dee and Nora, you two look great!!!
  22. HAPPY OBAMA DAY!!!! Sorry, I know we weren't going to talk politics here, but I'm absolutely bursting at the seams. I've laughed and cried all night long. I am so proud of our country right now for coming together against all odds to change the course of history. America IS the land of opportunity . . . and we have finally walked the walk. My heart is filled with hope for the first time in a very long time.
  23. Why thank you, miss dee! I can see it in my face as well. I am doing overall measurements, and I've lost almost six inches off my waist since surgery, so that makes me very happy!
  24. Thanks! And I think it's great that you're down another pound. You've lost so much already, and the fact that you've continued to lose is pretty impressive IMHO!
