  1. Yay Lotza! We'll just put our holiday gains behind us and move on.
  2. Hi Miss Dee. You can put me down for -4.9 lbs!!! yay!! I've lost what I gained over the holidays plus a few pounds more, so I'm very happy. Don, I'm glad you're feeling better. Walking really does make a big difference. Jaime, I'm glad your fill went well and that you had a fun trip.
  3. That's awesome that you're down today. Atkins always worked well for me at first, and then I'd hit a never-ending plateau. I'm really hoping that this other method will prevent that. Yeah, what's up with the smilies? I don't like them being on the side.
  4. Well, I had some big problems with nausea after, as well as some major gas pains. The gas pains are pretty common. I think the nausea was due to the pain meds. If you do start to feel really nauseated, you may want to call Dr. K. I ended up vomiting a few times and was scared to death that I had done something bad to my band. If it's gas pains, TAKE GAS-X. I went through a ton of Gas-X the first few weeks and it really helped. This is a great place to come with your questions. These ladies totally helped me through everything. They were very informative.
  5. Yeah, I'll be okay with a couple of pounds. It's really hard for me to lose 2 lbs in a week. 1.5 seems to be about my max.
  6. So this is gonna' sound nutty, but I've lost 5 lbs since Monday. I know it's water so I really hope it doesn't all come back again next week when I reintroduce a few carbs to my diet. But it sure is fun for now!
  7. YAY JAIME!!! I hope this fill works out great for you. And have oodles of fun tonight!
  8. What are you implying, Deb? I, for one, am a demure and mild-mannered sort who is always monitoring what comes out of my mouth (and fingertips) for social acceptability.
  9. Welcome, Dan! sounds like thing went well. You'll love your band.
  10. No problem. 30 grams is still a lot! And I love the word "shumdit". I'm going to have to call myself that in class. Hey, don't know what made me just think of this, but I can't wait till inauguration day! Fortunately I don't have any classes that day so I plan to party hearty!!
  11. OOO, I should look for those at Costco. I didn't realize there was one with 60 g of protein. I think any sort of low-carbing is a pretty good way to jump start yourself and get over a plateau. It's so frustrating though, yes?
  12. Yep, it does and I know it does . . . and yet I resist. Why? I do not know.
  13. They are the ones I drink too (the Slim Fast Low Carb). Anything else messes with my blood sugar WAY too much. So I'm on day 3 of the "Crack the Fat Loss Code" WOE. I've already peed away 3.6 lbs. I know it's just water but I was retaining a ton of water over the holidays so that's okay with me!! I had a killer headache all day yesterday but feel just peachy today. Hopefully this is a sign of things to come!
  14. Well, I'd try to summarize the diet but it's kinda complicated. There are these different "eating pattern" days . . . like sometimes you can have one serving of carbs before 3 pm and some days it's 2 servings before 3 and sometimes its 2 servings after 3, etc. And the order of the days changes from week to week. The author claims that it takes your body 72 hours to deplete the glycogen from your muscles when you're not eating carbs but then it will quickly adjust and you'll plateau so she has this formula to keep your body from adjusting to the carb level. She also has lists of what are acceptable proteins, fats, carbs, etc. I don't mind that it's complicated though. I kind of like planning my meals. Anyway, if you google it it seems like a lot of people really like this diet.
  15. Oh Lotza. I'm right there with you. I've gained 2.8 lbs over Christmas. I basically undid what I had lost in the earlier part of December. It really sucks. I'm trying a new way of eating. I bought a book called "Crack the Fat Loss Code" that is a really structured type of carb cycling. I just started today. The first week is "carb depletion" (less than 20 g of carbs per day) and then there are 7 more weeks of eating that varies in the amount of carbs you can have each day. I'll let you know how it works. Darned holidays!!!
  16. I'll sign up for 10. So everyone still needs to give me their final weigh in totals for today when they get a chance. I gained another .40. Bleh.
  17. Okay, so after my last two weeks of being really really bad with my food, I have been inspired by Dee's carb cycling to try something new. I bought a book called "cracking the fat loss code" that also does a carb-cycling thing but varies the amount every few days. I'm going to give it a try, as it even has a plan specifically for diabetics. The first week is carb depletion, so I'll be starting that this weekend. I'm pretty pissed at myself for gaining a pound over the holidays, but I have to remember that it would normally be 5 or 6, so I should cut myself some slack, I suppose. My evil youngest daughter left a pint of Cherry Garcia in my freezer when she went back to california. I haven't been able to bring myself to throw it away. Instead, I've been allowing myself a heaping tablespoon full every night after dinner. It's just so good. I think my downfall has been salty foods though. I've eaten oh-so-many pistachios, lots of Christmas ham, etc. and my ankles are pretty swollen. Well, I also ate sugar cookies and rum balls. And drank lots of wine. Okay, I've been horrible. I should thank my lucky stars (and my band, of course) for only gaining a pound. But I have to say, I have really enjoyed myself!
  18. Thanks Jaime! That worked great. I like this idea.
  19. Woohoo!!! Congratulations. That's fantabulous!
  20. Oh Patty. He's so cute. I agree about being a Grandma. My little CJ (Christopher John) is just the funnest thing around. I just wish I could see him more often :wink2: Here's a pic of my little guy with his handsome grandpa:
  21. Hey, I think "size 9 in '09" would be a great motto for me! Mal, do you mind if I join you in this quest? I would be thrilled to be a size nine.
