I HATE I GOT THIS STUPID SURGERY!
icebarbie replied to theexfatgirl's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Wow I’m sorry to hear you are going through a rough spot! Please know this though, It will get better eventually! I gad some rough spots too so I know you can do this! I’m a year out now and even with the rough spots would NEVER go back. What saved me was the no taste protein powder that I could add to broth, juice, water whatever I wanted. There are a few out there but I used one called genepro that you buy at GNC stores. It’s a smaller scoop and dissolved really good into anything. I remember struggling to get in enough liquids and this stuff saved me. I usually don’t post much anymore since I’m doing good now, but your post touched me because your having a rough time like I did. Good luck and keep thinking about where you will be in one short year 😀 -
Fingernails tearing off bad 6.5 months out RNY
icebarbie posted a topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I need help quick before I lose all of my finger nails! My finger nails are so sore from ripping down to the quick. I really don’t know what to do? This just started at month 5. I started losing hair bad about 4 months and upped the vitamins and biotin. I take chewable Bariatric fusion in addition to cal-mag-zinc, k, biotin, A, and fish oil. I get between 75-100 grams of protein daily and average 1000 calories a day. I bought some Hair, skin, and nails and added it one week who but I need a fast fix here. I am not vain about my nails and don’t paint them but just want to keep them for every day use and make them stop hurting. I don’t bite them, don’t drink and don’t smoke. My meat consumption is fairly low but I get protein through Greek yogurt, beans, protein shakes, and small amounts of chicken a few times a week. Please help me keep my finger nails! -

9 months after RNY-Things I have had to say goodbye to
icebarbie posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I believe in transparency and if this post helps even one person that is why I am posting it. Would I do the RNY again? Yes. Did I know going in I would have to say goodbye to some foods forever? No. I keep a list of foods now just in case I would ever forget and how sick they made me. My list is below, please add to it any horrible foods that make you sick! Peanut butter Beef of any kind Most frozen dinners like Stouffers MSG in foods - Like Chinese and other takeout foods Greasy and deep fried foods like onion rings Soups with MSG or grease in them at restaurants Most breads, pancakes, and donuts Super sweet sugary desserts like chocolate cake Too much ice cream - I can only take small amounts of plain vanilla ice cream now Pop or soda NEVER AGAIN ITS TORTURE!!! Restaurants that are gone for me are Canes, Texas Roadhouse - pretty much most steakhouses, Burger King, all the glorious pasta at Olive Garden- I can still eat their salad, Rally’s, Krispy Kreme donuts. I am not a drinker but probably any carbonated drink or beer would kill me! I’m thankful for the weight lost and healthy body but with it comes a strict new way of eating that will be with me the rest of my life. -
I was anemic for years also and was afraid that after surgery I would become so again. I have stopped having periods now due to turning 50 so that may be helping me also. My 8 month after RNY labs came back this week and were great on the hematocrit and iron and RBC’s. I am faithful on my vitamins and rotate daily between Flintstones with iron, bariatric fusion, and centrum multivitamin. If one is lacking I will get what I need from the others. I also take B12, biotin, D3, and Cal mag zinc. I don’t eat a lot of meat but do lean towards mostly Fish and chicken if I want meat.

In 2 days, I am 8 months out from RNY. In the last few days my bellybutton has started peeling. It is not sun burn. Now today it’s all red and burns. What is this ? I posted 2 pics below. P.S. I am a clean person and shower every day and don’t have any bellybutton piercings. I also haven’t had any surgery through my bellybutton. The RNY was performed with 6 laparoscopic incisions but none through the bellybutton. Help!!

Fingernails tearing off bad 6.5 months out RNY
icebarbie replied to icebarbie's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
***UPDATE ON NAILS*** It’s been a little over a month and my nails are doing ssooooo much better! Still not at 100% perfect maybe 90% better, but they are definitely growing again. Not long movie star nails, but out a few millimeters past the finger tip and no longer sore and ripping and tearing! I eat or drink sugar free jello every day for the gelatin that’s supposed to help nails. I have the collagen peptides in smoothies 5 times a week. And I also take the hair, skin, and nails vitamin every day now. Between the 3 it has fixed my nails and less hair is falling out now too. The biotin vitamin I was taking since after surgery was worthless in my opinion. -

Thank you everyone I went and bought some collagen powder at GNC and started with it. Hopefully this saves the nails! -
I am 4 months out after RNY and suddenly crave beans every day, black, pinto, refried, navy, chick pea, anything bean. WHY? My labs last month were all pretty good and I am losing regularly each week. I get at least 60 Grams of protein every day. Does anyone else go through this??
