How much weight did you loose your first month after surgery?
Daisyjayne replied to Ninja-slash-nerd's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I lost 10kg the first month. My starting BMI was 37.3. -
My plan allows salad in week 5. I've been eating small amounts since then, but really, after I eat my proteins there's no room left for anything else at this stage (nearly 8 weeks post surgery).

I was never tested for leaks after surgery, I'm assuming they did it while they were operating. Restriction will kick in when you try to eat an egg or chicken breast for the first time!

Post op sleeve nerve issues ?
Daisyjayne replied to Rolltide87's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I had issues the few days after surgery, apparently the anaesthetic can affect your bladder. I didn't feel like I needed to go, and when I did, couldn't empty my bladder. So I needed a catheter, joy of joys. I still felt weird for a few weeks, it's all back to normal 7 weeks out though. Definitely a question to ask your surgeon. -
Did they check your ferritin stores? I've never been anaemic, my iron levels are fine, but my stores were 6, they are supposed to range from 10-150. I was always tired and lightheaded until my iron infusion. For years and years no-one checked my stores, until I asked! Now I bore my friends and family banging on about how they need their ferritin checked, so sorry about that 😀

Food Before and After Photos

Australian with no idea here - is a plantain the same as a banana? I'm guessing not (hence the different name) but they look the same? -
I had a shower on the day after, the nurse came in and helped me to make sure I didn't fall over. I had waterproof dressings.

Anyone go to hospital alone?
Daisyjayne replied to loridee11's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I went in alone, the nurses put my bag in my room. Wasn't an issue. Good luck -
Going on holidays after Surgery
Daisyjayne replied to MissKat's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I'm going to Bali in a couple of weeks, and I'm 2 weeks out from gastric sleeve. My surgeon had no issues with me going and gave me a note saying I'm fit for travel, for travel insurance purposes. I actually feel great, I'll be on soft foods at that stage, and there should be heaps of food options for me at the resort we're staying at. I'm planning on a lot of lounging by the pool and reading books, and massages! It's probably a case of see how you go, and talk to your surgeon. Best of luck -
I'm 6 days post op now, and I feel like things are going great. I've lost 5.3kg (11.5 pounds) since the day of my operation, which seems incredible. More importantly, I'm waking up without the aches and pains I used to have. My legs and ankles are less sore. My fingers and wrists look thinner! I'm having no issue drinking all my water, I have a protein shake for breakfast, then soup, tea and lots of water during the day. I still have my dressings covering my steristrips, I'm supposed to take them off today but when I tried it started to pull the steristrips off too and it hurt. So I'm leaving it a few more days. The one I did manage to get off was the drain incision, which looks to be healing nicely. I have my post op appointment with my surgeon on Thursday so I'll see what he says about it. Goodluck to all those with ops coming up soon!

Leslie, I was telling my husband last night there is no way I could have done a pre op liquid diet (my Dr didn't require one), but post sleeve, it's been relatively easy. Hang in there, it's worth it, I'm 6 days post sleeve and don't feel like I want to eat at all.

Can you quote your source for that information Mikeyy? It's a fairly sweeping statement. Most people who have a sleeve end up converting?

Day 1 with sleeve, thing's I've learned. - Fentanyl is great for pain relief, but it makes me very nauseous, tired and dizzy. So I'm having anymore. - Having a catheter is horrible, but very convenient when it is in there. No more struggling over to the toilet. - The gas pains are awful. I can't wait to be walking them off. - Apparently I need to be on an anti reflux med for the foreseeable future,. This surprised me, as I have never had any issue with reflux, and my understanding was that the sleeve rarely triggers reflux. I'm going to talk to my surgeon about it it. - Ice chips were my best friend overnight, my throat was and is very dry.

October 2019 surgery peeps?
Daisyjayne replied to Cherylmilla's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm in my room now, all went well. I came out of the anaesthesic crying so my nerves really showed. Currently wired up to a drip and have a self dozer of Fentanyl so I'm no feeling any pain. Crushed ice is tasting amazing. I keep nodding off and having microsleeps, it's been at least 20 years since I had a general anaesthetic so I've forgotten how much it knocks you around. Oh and I've had some anti nausea medication as well. Have Ben felling woozy and sick if I try to stand up. I'm so glad it's all over, and wasn't nearly as bad as I thought. Good luck to every one with their surgeries coming up! -
October 2019 surgery peeps?
Daisyjayne replied to Cherylmilla's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My op is today, I need to be at the hospital at 11. I'm feeling very nervous and tense. I can't help but have doubts the surgery will even work for me, after decades of failed diets it seems to good to be true. But I've seen it work for friends and family, so I'm hopeful. -
