Aversion to Poultry?

Yes! Me too. I can barely get 1 or 2 bites in before I am so uncomfortable. I tend to avoid it for that reason. I eat a lot of shrimp and natural peanut butter. Even at 11 months I still prefer soft foods over meat. Chicken is also too dry for me. If I cut it up into the tiniest pieces and put it in a salad I do okay with it. Weird that when I combine it in a salad it works. -

Hi all, Just checking in. Yesterday was 11 months for me. I weighed in this morning at 121.6! Can you believe that my primary doctor is talking about me getting underweight! I feel like my legs are still pretty thick but it is all extra skin he said. My top half is really little at a size XS and bottoms are a size 0 or 2. I eat approximately 800 calories per day and exercise 2-3 days per week. I don't have up to date photos yet but the ones I am posting are from about 1 1/2 months ago and I am 5 pounds lighter now. I am 52 yo and feeling great. -

You look great. I love how you and Bobby match! So I am 11 months out as of yesterday and my hunger has only slightly increased. I am still only at around 800 calories per day. I don't exercise a whole lot but my doctor thinks because my calories are still pretty low that's why I am maintaining so easily. -

Hi all, I hope you are all enjoying the ways that weight loss has impacted your lives. I know that I have much more energy, and I have become more outgoing. I am now a regular exerciser and miss it when I don't do it. I was sleeved December 20, 2018 and have lost 79 pounds and reached my goal of 125 lbs. -

Lolo 2020 I'm glad to hear that you still have trouble with dense foods. Mine is more with dense protein than anything else. I can only eat about 1 oz of chicken or salmon. I too prefer, eggs and tuna salad and other soft things. My restriction is amazing. I was sleeved 12/20. -
I am 5 months out and have just started having the exact same thing. Waves of nausea come from out of nowhere. I had to pull over one day while driving. Something tells me this is normal. I never had any problems with nausea even right after surgery. Very strange. I take an anti nausea pill that I had from the surgery when it happens and it helps a lot. I will discuss with my surgeon at my 6 month post up appointment.

I'm so glad you got that scale to move!!!! I ended up losing 1.3 for the week so I'll take that. I saw my nutritionist on Friday and I think I may stop doing the keto diet and just focus on meat and vegetables and see if that change helps things at all. You are looking fantastic! Thanks for following up. Have a great week! -

Yes, that scale is evil for sure. I do take my measurements and have lost a lot in some areas and not so much in others. 4 pants sizes is incredible. Good for you. Are you buying new clothes yet? I haven't bought anything new because I have a whole closet full from the last time I was this size. I follow the Keto diet which was recommended from my surgeon but modified with more protein. I do have some good recipes for that. But mind you Keto is high in fat so if you are doing a low fat diet it would probably not be for you. -

Hello December folks. I wanted to post some facts and get feedback. I was sleeved on Dec. 20, 2018. I have lost 40 lbs to date. I am 5'4". To this date I struggle to get in 700 calories a day. Until last week I was only getting in 600. I also really have trouble getting my water in. Does anyone count decaf coffee into their fluid goals? I have tried not to break the golden rule of comparing myself to others, but....I don't think I am doing as well as others. Now granted I started at a lower BMI than some so they say I will lose slower but I have only lost about 2 sizes on the bottom and 1 size on the top. I am a pear shape and I still have sooooo much fat on my thighs and arms. I still don't understand why a person who is much bigger than me can lose quicker. It just doesn't make sense to me. If I am at a deficit in calories I should lose weight, period. I find myself staying up late just to try to get my calorie goal in. Maybe that is the problem, that I am eating late. I do not eat any carbs except those that come from vegetables and protein shakes. I still need to drink at least one protein shake a day to get my protein in. I have not had any fruit or grains or cheated with any junk food since day 1. Tomorrow is 16 weeks and I have been at a stall since last week. I go up and down 1 pound between 164 and 165. I exercise a couple days a week with just cardio for now. I am thankful that I have the restriction that I have. It is really hard for me to eat 2 oz of any protein source. I still prefer softer foods like eggs, tuna, etc. Any comments at all are appreciated. -

December 2018 Sleevers!

GRRRR, I need some lifting up y'all. I am at 8 weeks. I have lost 27.7 pounds from the day I started the pre-op diet which was two weeks and then I'm 8 weeks after surgery. I still can't get 64 oz of water in. My average is between 40-50 oz. Part of it is once I started eating solid meat sources like chicken, I get so full after that i can't drink anything without it coming up for a couple hours after. I still am not at my protein goal. Barely hitting 60 grams. I have a protein shake for breakfast, cottage cheese or string cheese or tuna and nuts for lunch and then chicken, salmon or shrimp for dinner. I can only eat 1 oz of the meats before I am so full that I feel overstuffed. I have tried everything to get more protein in but I am just too full!!!!I am exercising for about 40 minutes 4-5 days a week. It's all I can tolerate with my fibromyalgia. I feel like I am wasting the gift of the sleeve with the restriction by not meeting my goals and I'm afraid that if it keeps going this way I will be a year or more out and not losing anything and then my appetite will come back. Then what. I know my BMI was not as high as some but I need to get 35 more lbs off. I lost a couple of inches on my body during the pre-op stage but nothing since the surgery. Feeling super bad about things. -

Gastric sleeve and fibromyalgia
Louise is gonna Lose replied to Binglebug1977's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Yes it was a relatively low weight to start with but I am an extremely petite individual, not just in height. My bone structure is small and both my primary doctor and the surgeon felt it was a good option for me. My thighs are the biggest part on me and it was getting hard just to walk and the pain in my legs was keeping me up at night. Not to mention a whole lot of other ailments that many people at much higher weights experience. The doctors and I all knew that I would never lose the weight on my own. I was gaining in excess of 10 lbs a year and had gained 50 pounds from 2015 until 2018. So I decided to try to mitigate the weight gain. I can't tolerate the protein shakes, they make me sick and then I get too full and can't get in any regular food which the doctor would prefer I eat. -
In a month I only lost 6lbs :’(

I think you are among many who have only lost 6 lbs or less a month, myself included. I have only lost 14 lbs since my date of surgery. Don't worry! -

2weeks post sleeve, bad left side pain, almost zero weightloss

I can relate to you my friend. I am six weeks out and have only lost 14 pounds since surgery. I find myself stressing about it and that is not a good thing. I started at 204.4 presurgery, 194.2 day of surgery and am at 180.4 now. I lost 10 pounds in 2 weeks and I am surprised that in 4 weeks I only lost 14 pounds additional. I know there is a lot that I am doing wrong at this time like not enough protein, water and calories. But I am doing the best that I can and I know it will all come together. It simply does me no good to compare to those that lost 30 lbs in the first month or to beat myself up about my progress. So don't stress, just give it time.
