    MEN 300-350 LBS WEIGHT LOSS

How did you guys establish a goal weight? You guys have similar starting weights but I cant even imagine dropping below 200. I came up with 225 as it was when I looked my best but I was 17 and had a ton of muscle from lifting weights. Starting to realize 225 with my current muscle mass will be much different than it was back then.

    2 month stall

You are a model citizen and it sounds like your body is being stubborn. Much more strict than I have been. If you have been exercising for 3 months including walking and weight training your body composition is changing substantially. Take measurements and if you can get a bodyfat % measurement. I hope you have pictures along the way.

    What shakes are good?

I also support Unjury they were the only shake I was able to stomach but individual tastes will vary.

    Cost of surgery -- WOW

Given my recent experience I think the short answer is NO as long as you had some form of insurance.
  5. Wow 4 days you must be going crazy to get out. So sorry about the complications are you having trouble urinating? I struggled the first 24 hours but it was the Dilaudid for me.
  6. I have had an incredibly smooth process so far with very little complications. This week I began to notice a sudden drop in apetite. Has anyone else had these fluctuations? My hunger post surgery has been low but this week its non existant. On the plus side I am losing more weight but I would like to feel normal again. I guess we all have good and bad days.
  7. Let us know you are feeling about food post op.

    Cost of surgery -- WOW

I was a cash patient I paid $19k all in. Also received a check in the mail for $7,400 must have been things that my insurance was willing to cover. I was expecting $19k so to get $7,400 back months later is just thrilling!
  9. Half the people in this community refuse to believe in the anything in moderation approach but thats because they are the trigger foods that will cause a downward spiral out of control. Its going to take time but you will know what your triggers are. I believe in moderation for my own sanity, first you will quickly realize its not going to take very much and your body is going to be telling you to stop it will become quite annoying but when the weight starts flying off you will be so happy from it. Having a slice of pizza every once in a while didnt land you in this situation eating the whole pie did. Eating a sub didnt land you in this situation either eating it every day did. All this being said I dont recommend deviating at all from the plan until you are cleared for normal foods so around 4/6 weeks just depending on your surgeons plan. Give this a solid effort sticking to the plan and you will see dramatic results.
  10. If your diet was a lot of sugar/starch/enriched flour you are going to notice a dramatic drop during the pre op and clear/full liquid phase post op its your body detoxing. I didnt have to do a liquid pre op diet and I still lost 20lbs from it and another 20 during the post op liquid phase. You can search my history I was very stressed about the protein portion until I found a shake I could tolerate (Unjury readymade shakes).

    Gastric Surgeon-No bedside manner

Reviving a bit of an old thread here but Eggs cause a lot of problems for people particularly at puree phase. They get a little easier every week. DO NOT try chasing them with water if it feels stuck that is going to make it worse. Its been a month since your original post im sure you are doing a lot better!
  12. Grape has a funky aftertaste which comes in the original box. My favorite is the fruit punch in the tropical "variety" pack but usually end up with 10 pineapple which I dont care for either.
  13. If you are looking for something super high end check out the thermomix TM5. Just be prepared to laugh when you see how much it costs. https://thermomix.com/
  14. For this weeks motivation of the week look no further than the 2018 summer surgery check in. They are killing it!!! Close your eyes and before you know it it will all be in the past.
  15. I am 11 weeks out and last week I was stagnant only to get on the scale this morning and be down 6lbs from last Monday. I am now into staircase style weightloss after the initial rapid drop.

    Not complaining but......

I am not a doctor but have read there are connections between belly fat and reduced testosterone levels and increased estrogen levels. If you had blood work before surgery you should compare your test levels to where they are now.
  17. I have always been a fast eater and post op that is causing me a decent bit of discomfort. I know the tricks but mentally that’s one thing I have yet to get over. When I eat slow I have little to no discomfort my question is will this continue for life if I eat too fast?

I can see this helping. Very practical approach.

Struggling with the idea of surgery

Most of us will say we only wish that we had done this surgery sooner. A year ago at this time I could not have imagined doing this. It had a nasty stigma attached to it and a feeling of failure. I met with a regular dietician at the same time as my bariatric consultation. I knew I needed help as I never felt satisfied. I am only 2.5 months out but the restriction you get is really everything it is advertised to be. I had major problems with portion control but now I get that physical reminder and there is just no need to keep going after that. I wish I did this sooner I just didnt want to admit that I needed help. This community has been very helpful during my journey.
  20. I didnt cut out anything until I had to with pre op diet. My wife was all over me about the shock I would be in for. The pre op diet was hardest and once I had the procedure and the hunger was gone it was a breeze. Im certainly not an A student when it comes to post op diet but I know my triggers and I would like to think for the first time that I can remember I am achieving balance and something sustainable for life. I know what I can have every once in a while and what is on the absolutely forbidden list. I ate my usual tiny portions at my nieces birthday party this weekend and am back to my routine today. Now its Monday and Im back to my routine. I know I cant ever drink soda again because that is my trigger but for me to think I am never going to have white flour again I am only kidding myself I just know to limit it. I didnt get this weight by eating a cupcake at a party or a slice of pizza I got this weight because I couldnt stop at 1. I know this goes against what a large group of people have here but everyone is going to have different triggers. For those of you that all of a sudden snapped your fingers and you became perfect eating specimens over night more power to you I know that is not me. Strive for balance otherwise you are just asking to relapse and with this procedure relapsing can have major complications.
  21. We all have our days, when I got on the scale this morning it didnt move from last week. Of course its very frustrating for me its the fear that this honeymoon and rapid loss period is going to end when I am only half way to my goal. Table below for those that may be interested.

    Eating too fast

I will check that out. Also I have noticed its the foods I enjoy more that I eat fast. When it comes to things i dont particularly care for or neutral I eat slow to normal speed. Definitely something psychological going on. Thanks for the link.
  23. Why are you discouraged from that? Why are you discouraged from that? I dont know what expectations you had going in but generally noticing people on the board are feeling the same way. Re anchor your expectations and try to think more than a day ahead. Sorry for the tough love its no what you want to hear but its what you need to hear. I lost 17 in the first 2 weeks and 25 in the first month.
  24. Be careful on eggs they are rough the first time but will be much better in 2 weeks or so.
