  1. @FluffyChix if you can conquer all the hurdles with psychical and psychological food addiction I have no doubt you will be able to conquer your self doubt. Your accomplishments are outstanding but I sense you will always be your own biggest critic. This is really awesome to see perspective on what others are struggling with. For me the hardest to fix is going to be food choice, the surgery did not chance my taste buds very much. I still eat all the crap I used to eat just much much less. Water, Protein, and Vitamins should all be easy to work on it just requires developing the habit. Self image A+. This was never an issue for me the only thing ever holding me back in life was my weight. Even at my heaviest I was always quite confident. I expect this to continue to get better and better. Exercise same issues as before my schedule is still the limiting factor more than anything... after a 14 hour day the last thing I have on my mind is exercising so I know I have to do it before or during my day because its never going to happen at the end of the day. Thanks everyone and hope to read more!
  2. Last night I woke up in the middle of the night suddenly coughing up stomach acid. I used to get frequent heartburn from eating too fast but never really an issue. Since having the surgery my sleep apnea has improved dramatically. I got an oral appliance years ago but never use it. Have not used a cpap either. I was able to convince my pulmonologist that I did not need a sleep study again prior to surgery but I probably should do another sleep study just to see if my results come back any better.
  3. YES last night I did eat right before bed and this used to happen quite frequently when I would snack in the middle of the night.

    Snickers

My sleeve tolerates just about everything suppose thats a good thing and a bad thing. The only thing I have rejected entirely was a bagel and I think thats mostly because of the texture makes it so you have to really chew it.
  5. Just under 4 months down 85lbs from my highest weight and 60 since surgery. I have have stalled at current weight for 3 weeks. My surgeon was very pleased with my results so far but mentally I feel like I am starting to fight the clock before this honeymoon period ends. I have not exercised mostly due to a difficult work schedule but I know I need to incorporate it. I eat around 800-1000 calories a day which seems a bit on the higher side but still well below maintenance for someone at my current weight. Weight loss table below
  6. I was 268 on the scale this morning seem to be breaking through this plateau. Coming up on the down 100lb milestone ahead of a trip I have in 3 weeks. Its reachable but going to be very tight. Something to work towards. Important to note I havent made any notable changes I just started losing again, its all very weird.

    Snickers

Just dont eat the whole bag and you should be ok. Just remember despite what the crazies here may say moderation is key to long term sustainable results.
  8. 11 days since I posted this and down another 2.5 to 273.6 but its getting much harder. Starting to feel like the honeymoon period has wore off and now its just going to be like 1lb/week which at my weight feels too slow. Still a long way from my goal. In past attempts at losing weight when this would happen I would get discouraged and fall off the deep end. I dont have those same urges anymore but it felt a lot better when I was losing 3-5lbs every week.
  9. I am unsure if this is related to the weight loss but I recently got my ring resized smaller. Now its too tight in the morning but fits fine in the afternoon. So it has all the signs of water retention and that coupled with my weight stall I am wondering if my body is finding a new balance. With that in mind I am thinking I will be able to flush out even more weight and this recent stall is my body retaining water. Any thoughts?

    April 2019 Surgeries!

Went through the closet this weekend and pretty much all my nicer clothes now fit me comfortably again. Month 4 has been disappointing only losing 3lbs but I am starting to feel back to normal.

    April 2019 Surgeries!

Hi team April... how is everyone doing?
  14. But I wouldnt like it either expecting one but to wake up to another but just try to stay positive.
  15. I think you just drank too much of their proverbial sugar free kool aid. Sleeve is the more modern procedure.
  16. Chiptress why are you disappointed that they went sleeve instead of RNY. What happened I couldnt imagine expecting to have a procedure then being told oh we decided to do soemthing else instead. Hope you are doing ok.
  17. I did have to get my ring resized from a 11 down to 9.5 but depending on time of day etc that will be too tight. Suppose thats something else to look up.
  18. Good luck today let us know how it goes. You have lost a ton of weight going into surgery I am eager to see how your body responds post op.
  19. I did get measurements taken for my Tuxedo rental end of last month but have no retaken them. My surgeon was not concerned by the pause and also said I was still probably losing inches despite the weight consolidating. Its funny how that works.
  20. 80g of protein I dont actually know how many carbs. I am not a model citizen for diet and exercise by any means but things have been working for the most part.
  21. 2 days post op sounds like gas/stomach acid. I had a kidney stone at a week out and it felt like hunger. They do mimic hunger pain and given that most are still mentally addicted to the bad foods its easy to mistake it.

    Goal weight

I posted about this a few weeks ago noticing there were a few guys that were 350 starting range and now 170-190 which I thought was low. I originally went with 225 but with 50lbs to go I think I will want to go lower maybe 200. Will have a better idea in the next few months.

21 y/o guy never able to have alcohol again?

I had a friends wedding earlier this month and it was my first time drinking since surgery. I stuck with the Champagne and had zero issue. I was a bit nervous how it would go given its bubbly. I drank a lot that night and had a great time. I lost 1lb that week. I had planned on posting more about the experience as weddings can be challenge for recent WLS patients but decided not to. Yes what they say about the effects kicking in quicker are true it metabolizes much more quickly.

    I CHEATED

Nobody ever got fat eating a tiny piece of carrot cake every once in a while. They got fat because they ate the whole cake. Dont be so hard on yourself and strive for balance. What you do not want to happen is fostering all this resentment toward food that could lead to seriously destructive behavior down the road.
