  1. Wow 20 is the youngest I have ever heard of having this surgery. I think you are losing at a good rate.

No doubt it’s a drug and highly addictive. For me it wasn’t the biggest issue portion control was which made the sleeve extremely effective for me. 9 months without sweets after going a lifetime addicted isn’t that long of a time. Maybe you have changed but you better hope your not a relapse risk because a relapse incident is worse than moderation. I just have s very different view on it. I’ve cut way back but too stubborn to give it up entirely. Both camps think their way is right but reality is it’s probsbly just right for them.

    Post op hunger pains

Are you taking omeprazole for stomach acid? the reflex strongly mimics hunger. There is no way you are physically hungry 1 month in. if you really think you are hungry go eat 2 bites of something and you will be quickly reminded how tiny your stomach is.

No offense to those in the thread but there is a large group on this community thats in the "im never eating chocolate again" camp and for good reason it made them obese. My question is if your will power was really that strong why did you need the surgery if you had the ability to quit everything cold turkey? My will power stinks I was never going to be able to achieve results without surgery to use as a tool.

Nobody ever got fat eating a cookie once in a while. They got fat eating the whole box. Gues you know which camp I am in . I fully believe those that quit cold turkey are major relapse risk.
  6. For those that are post op what temperature do you take your steaks now? I was a medium rare to medium just depending on the cut. Now a medium rare is too undercooked and leads to digestion hell for me. This weekend I had a 6oz filet cooked medium and the difference in digestion was substantial.

    Steak Temperature

My stomach would be in hell from rare. It takes a very long time to digest and have to be particularly careful not to eat and drink with steak even more than with most foods.

    self conscious

Time to consider cosmetic surgery. Be very proud of your accomplishment. I am looking forward when I have to figure out those next steps but still have a ways to go.
  9. See chart below for typical progress.
  10. I am 4.5 months out and down 95lbs and I have been thinking a lot lately about my progress. I started to think about how I would assess myself over the various key areas that will result in successful weight loss post surgery. Feel free to add your own major categories. Daily water intake B. Still room for improvement but on target atleast 5 days a week Daily protein intake A. Consistent here with very few slip ups Food choice C. I still have too many sugars, starches, and processed foods Portion control A+. I could not be happier with this respect Mindful eating C. I eat slower but my meals do not take 20 minutes. I dont focus on eating extra well because I have not had issues with digestion Exercise F. I still maintain the same level of activity I did at my highest weight Vitamins D. I always seem to forget these on the weekends
  11. I am hesistant to post this but its on my mind so I wanted to share. I somehow gained 6lbs between Sunday morning and Tuesday morning. Monday mornings are my usual weigh in but I missed it yesterday. As I have mentioned I do still struggle with making the right choices but I have not experienced any weight gain till this point but 6lbs was alarming. I blame the birthday cake but I had a slice not the whole cake. It was a bit of a wake up call just how quickly things can change but I will chalk this up to carb bloat.

    Gained 6lbs overnight

Was down a full 3lbs waking up this morning which puts me back mid range and just generally feeling a lot better.

By 3 years the new habits I have formed are enough to compensate for the tool losing its effectiveness. You are implying its just going to revert back to what it was just because the tool loses its effectiveness. I know better than to ever eat anywhere near what I used to. This is a difficult discussion to have because you are at goal weight and proven and I am not.

fluffy you are scared straight. You obviously are not the same person you were at your peak weight. You went from one extreme to the other and now it seems you have no balance the other way. Nothing wrong with that you are motivated by the fear of going back. Im typically motivated by results but Ive said it dozens of times and will continue to do so. Didnt get this weight by eating a slice of cake on my birthday got this way because I had zero control and ate like every day was my birthday.

    Gained 6lbs overnight

Im still the same person I was 100lbs ago. I want to eat the same foods I just hope the sleeve will keep the portion control in check which it has.

    Gained 6lbs overnight

Wow I didnt think of it like that and I dont really eat many carbs so this makes sense. I am able to get my wedding ring on and off and while retaining water I cannot but I follow what you are saying on water retention.

Good thing only have 1 birthday a year
  18. Weight loss is not linear. Table/chart below tell the full story, think about it month by month and less week by week.

Final 4 weeks until surgery day!!!

Cool so you want to use it as a tool for lasting results. Atleast you are honest on the sustainability of it. The most weight I lost before was 50lbs but I had gained it all back within 6 months. I love burgers and steak I just cant finish them and I know a few bites isnt going to sidetrack me. Its all the extra that went with it like fries and soda that really packed on the extra pounds.
  20. Thanks for this Jake I like to see how others are doing week to week. We were the same surgery weight I am 2 months ahead.

Final 4 weeks until surgery day!!!

Mikey I mean this in a very good way so dont take it wrong. How did you end up in the situation you were to begin with because your success pre surgery has shown you have the power to do this without needing the surgery. I look at myself and all the things I still dont do that I should and I am thankful every day that I have a tool to stop me from over eating.

    Deep breath....surgery tomorrow!

Surgery day is like your wedding day you will never forget it. Let us know when you are ok, wishing you the best

    Feeling hungry

Are you still on omeprazole? the heartburn can mimic hunger but there is no way you are actually hungry. I had a kidney stone 3 weeks out and was having the worst stomach pains of my life.

    101 pounds!!

Congrats that is real work. Getting very close to down 100 myself but no progress this past week. After that just a round milestone goal before my goal weight with a few non scale goals sprinkled in there.
  25. Unjury ready made hands down. I had massive anxiety trying to find a protein shake I could tolerate.
