  1. I hope some of you are able to appreciate the humor in this. For others I know the struggle is no laughing matter but i must digress.
  2. 32 6'2" highest weight was 361 immediately before pre op diet. Surgery weight was 340. I am 9 weeks post op and down 73 from peak. Doctor thinks 230 is attainable. Cant wait to see what my new suit size is when I get fitted in a few weeks for a friends wedding. I was wearing a 56 probably closer to a 50.

    Bariatric Nightmare

Our bodies are capable of amazing things on both extremes. I had my first burger yesterday. As expected I managed to get to half and that was it. Unfortunately it took 2 hours to digest but I think that was from the bun more than the ground beef. Im never going to eat the cleanest but the restriction amazes me every single day. Normally i would be able to eat 2 burgers and various other snacks and still be hungry. To be able to enjoy a holiday but consuming 80% fewer calories is so nice.
  4. The portion sizes with most all inclusive are very bariatric friendly.
  5. Everyone thinks they are an expert. You know your body better than anyone else. If you fell off the horse you can always get right back on. If its a banished food for you then you should know.

    REGRET

Talk your way through it. Be very specific and honest with yourself. Keep asking yourself why.... why are you feeling regret? When you have an answer again ask why you think that. Keep repeating this until you have gotten to the root cause. This forum has been great for me to express my thoughts through the process. I was prepared to be an emotional wreck post surgery particularly while still in liquid/mush/softs, I prepared for the worst but hoped for the best. So far its been a breeze. When you have dropped 50lbs you WILL feel better about yourself.

    Stalled stalled stalled

Stepped on the scale this morning and for the first time the scale stopped going down. I was up 3lbs from last week, I dont want to stress about it but I have lost a lot and now am starting to wonder if it will stop. I have been introducing new foods daily since the last restriction came off and this weekend certainly was not the cleanest eating but portions remained tiny.
  8. I will be 2 months post op on Saturday and I am right at half way to my goal weight. While I dont want to feel like I am fighting the clock I realize that hunger will eventually return. Seems unlikely I continue at this pace for much longer. How long did it take you to reach your first goal weight?

Stage 1 Diet and Ice Cream

This cracked me up. Please see this thread on another forum. Im not sure the OP is serious but it reminded me of this. https://www.reddit.com/r/fatpeoplestories/comments/2pbhp0/tales_from_a_bariatric_clinic_mashed_potatoes_are/
  10. I could have stopped at 3 but I was behind on protein.
  11. I got cleared yesterday for regular food. I had some large shrimp from Whole Foods. My eyes were bigger than my stomach putting 6 on my plate. I managed to get down 4 and didnt think twice about even attempting the last 2. The cocktail sauce was INTENSE and I almost fell over in the chair the first bite. I am very concerned with what happens now that I am cleared I want to keep losing like I have been since I am just under half way to my goal. I will never make the best choices but I dont graze and I listen to my body on portion control.

    Rate of weight loss

I was sleeved the same date I am down 40lbs since surgery and lost 20lbs on the pre op diet. From what I have seen looks pretty normal. Starting weight?
  13. Thanks I have my 2 month followup tomorrow but i wanted to see others experiences.
  14. I have dealt with gout off and on since I was 17. My body has responded very well to Indomethacin once properly dosed. Colcrys doesnt provide any relief at all but I get all the side effects. Fortunately the past few years the gout attacks are much less frequent. Unfortunately I still experience fairly frequent other inflammatory conditions. The past 10 days I had had pretty bad joint pain in my index finger at the knuckle. Since I had the sleeve and NSAID's are no longer an option what am I supposed to do? Tylenol does not provide much relief as an anti inflammatory.
  15. I am 6 weeks post op but was wondering for those 2+ years with sleeves if the feeling of restriction is the same as at first. Portion control has always been my main weakness and was the biggest motivation to have the procedure. Is it always going to feel like this though or does it gradually regress after the honeymoon phase?
  16. This was very helpful thanks everyone.
  17. That is the meds causing it. It was very frustrating but should go away within 24 hours.
  18. Everything has been going well for me but yesterday morning I woke up with what at first felt like hunger pains for the first time. I had oatmeal and a protein shake and a couple hours later I was feeling better. By the afternoon I had developed a pain in my lower left back and my stomach nausea had returned. Having experienced this once before I realized it was kidney pain. When I woke up this morning the stomach nausea was gone but the kidney pain was still there. When I went to the bathroom the volume was very low which is the dead give away that it was a kidney stone. I was able to get in contact with my doctor and he confirmed it sounded like a kidney stone and to try to flush it out. I wasnt as diligent this weekend in getting my fluids and now I am paying the price. Its a wakeup call to me on the importance of staying hydrated. Has anyone else experienced kidney stones post op?
  19. I had my sleeve one month ahead of you (April 29 th) and my starting weight was very close to yours and I am the same height. I lost 20 on the 1 week pre op diet, and was down 43 for my 1 month follow up. I have no physical hunger and only the occasional mental hunger. Clear and full liquids are not good indications of what having the sleeve is designed to do. You will start to notice restriction once into thicker puree and beyond. How long does the honeymoon last Ive seen 9 to 18 months. There are a few expected weight loss calculators to give you a ballpark estimate. https://www.obesitycoverage.com/how-much-will-you-weigh-after-surgery/ Great job so far.
  20. Revisit in a few days it will get easier. The wet kind seem to go down easier. Enjoy that restriction feeling.
  21. a precaution on scrambled eggs... they are considered a soft under a lot of plans and not a puree. My first few times on scrambled eggs were pretty rough. If you have not experienced restriction yet go very slow if you absolutely must.
  22. I didnt feel that restriction I was looking for on clear or full liquids. You will get that feeling of restriction when you start puree and even more so with softs. Just be patient.
  23. Congrats so far I know it was a long process for you. Wait till you run into the people you dont see day to day thats when you know very well how noticeable it is.

    Post OP regrets

Try to talk it out, why are you having regret. Get to the source to understand why you feel this way then I suggest having someone you can talk it out with. I was prepared to mentally really struggle with it but so far I havent had those feelings.
  25. I am so glad I brought my own pillow as well it made everything so much more tolerable!
