    UPDATE Jan 08 Bandsters

First and foremost, I am new to Lapbandtalk and have been trying to do this on my own for awhile. I really like the forum and have enjoyed the threads. That said, I am in a similar spot but my weight loss is really weird. I lost tons at the beginning on the liquid/soft diet and then grinded to a halt for a month a half (only 3 lbs lost at that time). Now, I have had my second fill and holy cow, I can't eat anything anymore. I have lost 6 lbs since the fill and am just doing everything I can to get in protein and water (its an all day affair). That parts a bit annoying, but the lbs shedding off isn't!

    Doctor in Dallas?

I had my surgery in January of 08 and have been very impressed with Cribbins and his office. He has excellent bedside manner and really takes care of his patients. I highly recommend him.

    I'm not losing weight

Like any plan, you must account for the bumps in the road and keep you eyes (and mind) focused on the end goal, not on the ground. I have had a few bumps and at first, was almost obsessive compulsive about the scale (among other things). The only thing the scale does is torture us. Our bodies can fluctuate multiple lbs in the same day! I threw out the scale and now go to my brothers house every other week to weigh (and an excuse to see my baby nephew). It has made me relax and over two weeks, you usually do see results. Sometimes I don't, and if it happens twice, its time for a change - be it a fill or something else. I understand your obsession and the best I can say is focus on the long term goal and quit obessing with the details!

    Would you do it again?

I would do it again. Nothing else worked and I know that when I leave a weight behind this time, it is gone for good because I have a tool that will allow me to keep it gone. I have had some bumps, but compared to living with diabetes, overworked joints and constantly catching your breath, I would take my little bit of uncomfortable situations anyday.

    Trouble Eating after Fill

I just had my second fill yesterday and boy, do I feel it. I was getting concerned as I only lost 3 lbs in two months from my first fill and I was beginning to believe I made a mistake. I could (if I wanted) almost eat full portions. I have a 12cc band and had 3 cc in the first fill and just had 3 more added yesterday. Now, even water feels like it goes down like a rock. It goes down, but to stay hydrated (especially after reading this thread) and get my protein in, it has become an all day affair. I haven't vomitted, but have had some PB events (which now I actually know what that means first hand). I don't think it is overdone, but now I can REALLY feel the band taking hold. Time to really start chewing... Banded: 1/15/08 in Dallas, Tx by Dr. Joseph Cribbins Starting Weignt: 355 Current Weight: 306 Goal Weight 210
