9 months post-op... poop question (sorry)
Mrs.Cartwill posted a topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
So I am down nearly 100 lbs. now, but I am suddenly experience severe cramping and then the explosive need to poop. It starts normally and slowly over like 1-4 hours gets worse and more frequent with more poop than I thought my body could hold! I don't do sugar, and have mostly cut out all carbs that are not from veggies. It definitely seems worse on days the I work out a bit more intensely (running instead of walking, etc.) Has anyone else had this problem? Like I literally just spend an hour at Starbucks afraid to get back on the road. After 3 trips to the bathroom, afraid people were wondering WTH I was kept doing in there, I finally l left. But really?? This sucks. -
Starry*Night - I know JUST where you are. I had my surgery the day after you. I am struggling with getting in my water too. I have seen people post about all their post-op energy and I’m like “where did you get it?” I made a few friends in my nutrition class who had their surgery the week before me and they are down 35-40 lbs, working out at the gym and already looking at buying new clothes. Me: I’m like, wait... how? I can’t barely make it through a grocery trip at Walmart without feeling like I am going to pass out. When shopping with my mom and sisters and literally had to carry my muscle milk and bottle of water to keep me fed and hydrated during our Christmas shopping. Mind you, I also sat down a lot too. I have way less energy than before. I get hiccups 4-6 times a day from drinking my water and I think I am barely getting 40 oz in. I am so tired of soups and I just cant do mixed shakes etc., there is too many air bubbles. You are not alone. We all have different paths to take and I have my days where I regret it too, BUT.... I know this too shall pass and when I get to the other side I will look back and be happy with the choice I made. You will too. Feel free to reach out anytime. We have a couple of us chatting on FB too. You can find me under Sheila R. Williamson (Sheila Carter) on FB. My profile pic is the same on here. You are doing great!! Keep it up and go easy on yourself. You got this!

is it a fart... nope, it's poop, adult diapers, really?
Mrs.Cartwill replied to HYCIERRA's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Not at pooping bed or diaper stage thankfully, but I have been chronically constipated my entire life. I am in week 3 post-op and suddenly I have to RUN to the bathroom. I’m a bit raw (I know... TMI) maybe it’s the milk I’m adding to my shakes?? -
Currently sitting in my pre-op room getting ready to have surgery. Ready to get on to the next stage and better my heath. Anyone else having/had surgery today?

Nausea wont go away. Help. What worked for you?
Mrs.Cartwill posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had my surgery on Monday and I am still in the hospital. Looks like I might be here another day or two. We just can’t get the nausea under control. I don’t have any abdominal pain (unless I am dry heaving) but with the nausea I can’t drink the little one once cups of fluid. How long does this last? Did anyone else suffer from prolonged nausea? -
So... I don't really get why everything we have to take for nausea etc is by mouth right after surgery (I mean my stomach just isn't handling them) but my doctor has prescribed me Regalen for nausea. Is it super bad tasting? I only ask because the Zophran under the tongue makes me vomit, as does the liquid Tylenol 3. I am not getting relief from either because I can't keep them down. Sorry for all the questions.

Regalan for Nausea
Mrs.Cartwill replied to Mrs.Cartwill's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
No just as a stand alone and I was told only to crush it. It is pure bitterness 🤢. The taste actually makes me more nauseous. -
I purchased the Tespo 5 weeks pre surgery and started using the energy and women’s multi-vitamin. My husband is not sleeved, and he he loves his men’s daily ad the energy. Total output is about 1 oz and the flavors are not bad. He mixes it with his Keto drink and can’t even tell it’s in there.

I had horrible nausea and light headedness so I could hold down any liquid I won’t be going home until tomorrow. It has finally started to pass but still there a bit.

Mrs.Cartwill replied to Sealeafi's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
You’ll do great! My surgery is tomorrow too! I have orders for no food after midnight (I’m in Washington State) and then clear liquids until 2 hours before check in at 11:45am 😊 so excited. I’m nervous about water intake most. -

dehydration Dehydration and Skin Post-Surgery
Mrs.Cartwill posted a topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi All, I am new here and schedule for sleeve surgery on 11/26 (next Monday) in in the US. I have to admit, I am getting a bit scared, nervous and doing some back peddling. I haven't been big on drinking water and to be honest I have always had dry skin even when I do drink 64+ ounces a day. I am really worried about being able to drink those 64+ after surgery and becoming severely dehydrated. How do you vets do it? Also, how bad is the skin after... really? I have seen some pretty scary photos online and I think it is freaking me out a bit. Like, what is worse depression from having really bad hanging skin, or being overweight. I know I am probably just freaking out for no reason, but with only a few days left my brain keeps going, "Hey... you haven't tried the Ketogenic diet yet. Maybe you should try THAT before removing your stomach... that's how you will be eating after anyway.. " I don't want to regret doing the surgery, but I don't want to be in the same place in a year saying I should have done it. Has anyone else had last minute fears? Need a little real-life experience guidance here. Thanks in advance.- 10 replies

Dehydration and Skin Post-Surgery
Mrs.Cartwill replied to Mrs.Cartwill's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thank you Jenn. Yes, my mother's comments are out of fear. But you are right and my decision to have the surgery is out of fear too. Fear that I wont live to see my youngest child grow up. Have a wonderful Thanksgiving! -

You look amazing. I know the right and best answer for me is to just do it, I guess fear just sets in. It is a drastic change. I was totally excited and ready until I saw the death rate at 2/1000 and my mom decided to put her two cents in that if I was just eating better, walking and counting calories I could lose it all in 2-3 years. I don't have a lot of support going in, everything thinks I am taking the easy way out except my sister and people I have met that are doing it too. Thanks for the inspiration. I know that ALM is a better me, skin or not. -
Heading to the store today for the pre/post-op meals! Tips?
Mrs.Cartwill replied to mousecat88's topic in Pre-op Diets and Questions
Oh, that must be so hard. Sorry to hear this. You have a good attitude about it though and that is great. Hopefully, they can sort it all out and you can move past liquids. -
Crazy Progress Pics!!! Almost 5 months out!
Mrs.Cartwill replied to Dfox1984's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I think it has been said before, but WOW you look amazing! And, you don't have a lot of skin which is amazing too! I am so afraid of the leftover skin. I have seen so many photos of people with sagging skin it is great to see one without it. Congratulations. -
Dehydration and Skin Post-Surgery
Mrs.Cartwill replied to Mrs.Cartwill's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Congratulations on days 7! Has it been hard? I feel you and that is where I am. My husband is like, "We Can Do This Together!", and I'm like "Yeah, like the last 3 diets we tried together went so well!" He and I co-depend on each other with food and I need to break the cycle. I am a stay-at-home mom who homeschools. I think I am more afraid of canceling the surgery and "trying again" only to fail and then hate myself for not doing it. Problem is, I am a success DIY in nearly everything, BUT this. I keep failing at losing weight. -
Heading to the store today for the pre/post-op meals! Tips?
Mrs.Cartwill replied to mousecat88's topic in Pre-op Diets and Questions
Yeah, I am pretty sure I won't be able to consume protein shakes after. I opted to buy a 12 pack of Liquid Protein Clinical. The bottles are 3.8 ounces each and the flavor (at least for the Fruit Punch) is not bad. I tried it as a shot and it goes down well. I haven't tried the LiquaCel, but it was one of the protein drinks on our sample table when we did our nutrition class. Good Luck either way. When is your surgery? Mine is next Monday. -

Have you tried J. Robb? I don't like egg white protein shakes either, but his brand is quite palatable. -
November 2018 Sleevers!?!?
Mrs.Cartwill replied to Sealeafi's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I am new here too. I am set for the 26th of November. I just want to be able to walk without pain more than anything. At nearly 300 lbs and plantar fasciitis in my heel, it hurts to walk around the house, let alone spend time walking with super skinny, super active kids and grandkids. -
Liver Shrink Diet
Mrs.Cartwill replied to jenngraham9's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I started mine yesterday. My surgery is November 26. Our plan doesn’t require any Weightloss pre-surgery and I don’t have to do a liquid diet until 2 days before, but I am starting because I want to lose for my liver and kidneys beforehand. I have low kidney function and a really fatty liver. I told my hubby today “sorry in advance for being cranky for the next several weeks!” 😉😂 -
