Did I mess my band up?
Bengal Fan replied to autigerfan's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
sheeww.... glad to know. I also had the virus going around and had the dry heaves... horrible! It also made this horrible sound when heaving!!! I can't describe it but it sounded and felt like someone rubbing on a washboard when nothing was coming up, rippled or something or when you run a stick of spokes of a bike... I was scared my stomach was going to come up thru the band! I am well past the healing stage but it still worried me. Things are not getting stuck as often now too but I did lose 2 more lbs so maybe my band is just a little more loose. -
After fills, can the band loosen back up?
Bengal Fan posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had my 2nd fill and was pretty tight...I was getting stuck pretty often at certain times of the day, especially in the mornings. My good eating time was in mid-late afternoon. I was having to eat mostly foods that had liquid with them or use dips to help with the sticking...My second fill was in mid December...Do the bands loosen up after a while? I'm not getting stuck as often now and I was wondering how it would be able to loosen up? Can the fluid leak out or the band kind of stretch with the passing of food thru it? Maybe I've stretched my small stomach above the band....hhmm I'm not hurting... I have unfortunately thrown up a few times since December because of food sticking in my chest but other then that, I feel fine! I've eaten much less portions but my food choices are not the wisest choices. I have been stuck for a couple of months with no weight loss....I have lost 65lbs total but have stayed there for a long time... -

awesome! thank you.... I do really, really need to go back to the Protein first rule and I need to get my exercise back on... I work full time and have 2 small children, hard to get that exercise in when Daddy works 2nd shift! I still feel kind of restricted at times but it was getting easier to eat some things lately... I just need to get my act together and follow the rules!! -
How many banders can eat bread without problems? How much and when?
Bengal Fan replied to coloradobanding's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I am horrible! I can eat some bread as long as it's with something that will help it slide, like butter or sauces. My restriction is pretty tight right now but I have days that I can eat something OK and then there are days where I can hardly eat. I take my multi-vitamin and calcium supplement and biotin because I know I'm not getting enough of what I should be eating... the things I have trouble with the most is chicken! Especially the breast... maybe because it's dry...The only chicken I can eat right now is the Willie's boneless wings with no breading (with a lot of blue cheese) I basically eat whatever is on the menu and eat a whole lot less of it... -

I am the only one frustrated?

This is an excellent idea....!! I wonder if the mods could go thru and find frequently asked question threads and sticky them at the top! It would definately save time and repetitive threads!:cursing: -
I am the only one frustrated?
Bengal Fan replied to als74's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Some are food addicts. And just like alcoholics don't have the self control you have. I wish I had your self control. Some addicts need forgiveness and to know that people care and will try to help keep them focused. Some did not receive a very good support system or information system with their surgeon's office and staff... I am one of them. I knew the process but they did not give a whole lot of information post-op. I believe I got a sheet of paper on eating after surgery. I had a lot of questions that they seemed too busy to answer and I had already had the surgery. I researched the Lapband for quite a while prior but nothing helps you more then someone who has experienced it. Questions, answers, and support is what a forum is all about. That is the whole reason I joined this sight was for additional information my surgeon did not provide. If everyone new exactly what to do, what every strange feeling was, there would be no threads at all. Anyway... all is well, just skip over the threads that make you frustrated and others will answer and help. It's all good! -
Am I too tight? Or give it time?
Bengal Fan replied to travelinsnorkel's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
my band is very tight, I can do fluids fine but other foods get stuck often and I wind up just burping alot and very uncomfortable... not throwing up anything, just a lot of saliva in my mouth and trying to make myself burp.... does anyone know if that is hurting me to burp so much? Nothing comes up just burping to move the food... Is it damaging to your band if food gets stuck often? -
Post Holiday Blues
Bengal Fan replied to neptune693's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Just remember...you can't go the rest of your life without a treat here and there... take it for the Holiday and get back on track. I messed up good over the Holiday too, no worries... just get back into the groove! YOU CAN DO IT! -
drinking during meals
Bengal Fan replied to looserwannabe's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You may not be restricted enough yet and the reason you don't want to drink liquids is because it helps push the food down and you don't feel as full and it could also cause the band to slip because it forces the food thru...that is what the nurse told me...not sure if others agree or have been told otherwise but I'm sure they'll let you know what they have been told... -
Did I stretch my band?!
Bengal Fan replied to deenagal1984's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I just received my fill a few weeks ago and I notice that at certain times of the day, food will get stuck and sometimes I can eat fairly well...I have no clue why but some days I can eat and other days I can hardly eat anything without getting stuck...I can't eat anything in the mornings it seems but in the afternoon I can get some food down....not sure if this helps but it's weird too me... It seems as if the tightness of the band is always different. -
What does it feel like to get food stuck?
Bengal Fan replied to Luckyladeebugg's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
miserable, miserable,miserable...IT HURTS! you fill like you have a huge burp stuck in the center of your chest, you want to beat on your chest and try to burp...you will stop eating because it hurts to eat...I think my band is a little tight because almost everything gets stuck but I'm going to ride it out because I'm not eating much and I'm hoping it will kick start my weight loss again...break out the protein shakes again!...does it hurt the band to do all the burping??? -
I know people have talked about it...
Bengal Fan replied to LeslieR041906's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A

Bengal Fan replied to LeslieR041906's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have been taking Biotin (hair, skin, nails, metabolism) and I will say that I have new hair growth after a couple months of taking it...it does work but you have to be faithful and take it every day! -
emotional breakdowns?
Bengal Fan replied to chelerhea's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
This might sound corny but a nurse friend of mine who is also into Indian methods of cleansing said that you will get depressed and emotional during rapid or large weight loss because of the hormones that circulate in your fat cells, apparently once you lose the weight, the hormones get all out of whack - take if for what it's worth, she is into some strange healing methods but she makes sense as she explains things... -
Is anyone else COLD all the time?
Bengal Fan replied to SkinnyKathy's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I just figured it was from losing that extra fluff...I'm cold too and I'm generally hot blooded...:tongue2: -
Does having good restriction mean that things will get stuck more often?
Bengal Fan replied to Losing_It_In_Texas's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
shew....that must mean I've got great restriction, I was wondering the same thing...it took a couple of days before I could actually eat some things without getting stuck... very painful! I would walk around trying to belch because it made me feel better or helped move the food...does belching hurt the band? -
Would you know if your pouch is stretched?
Bengal Fan posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Maybe I just need another fill or I haven't found the so call "sweet spot"...I have been able to consume way more then 1 1/2 cups of food at a sitting...I have been forcing myself to stick to smaller portions but during that "time of the month" it's like I have a tapeworm or something....I do chew my food to death so maybe the food it going thru the band easily. I was just wondering if there are signs that you have over stretched your pouch... Would it create any type of infection or hang over the band? Has this happened to anyone? Just curious. -
Would you know if your pouch is stretched?
Bengal Fan replied to Bengal Fan's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
so if I stretched my pouch a bit and I go get a fill, can I get it to go back down eventually by eating smaller portions again? Will it shrink back up if I go back to smaller portions? -
Exercise = weight loss stops
Bengal Fan replied to Bengal Fan's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Well maybe it was water weight...I've lost the 2 back and almost another but I'm still exercising and trying to drink more water. thanks for all the wonderful advice!! I'm trying to hold off on the fill as long as I can....insurance pays for 3, I've had one since surgery. -
 I'm not really mad but my weight loss slowed so I started doing the eliptical at work for 25-30 mins, 2x a week for the last month and even went hiking at Natural Bridge over the weekend..I gained 2 lbs...ugg. I was losing rapidly and I've only had 1 fill since my surgery on July 25th...I think part of it is my fault, I have been eating regular foods and my portions have gotten slightly larger but not out of control...I just started back on some of the foods I ate during the mushie stage hoping to kick it back in gear...I was down 61 lbs but gained 2 back...hoping this is just a normal stage and I will start losing again...thoughts? Did this happen to you and what did you do? Think it's time for another fill?

Are we banned from carbonated drinks forever or when can you start having carbonated drinks again...(just kind of wishing for a Miller lite) ps, I'm well aware of the effects it will cause but I still would like a beer every now and then! I've had a small glass of wine and was fine.
-
I've noticed that I can eat just about anything now as long as I take small bites and chew, chew, chew but my problem is I have "forgotten" on occasion and when starving, I ate too fast and didn't chew enough and what I was eating got stuck and felt like a huge lump in my chest! I just keep trying to burp and it seems to help after a while... so don't forget SMALL BITES, CHEW, CHEW, CHEW!

Weird, sharp pains when I eat...
Bengal Fan posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
When I start to eat, I am experiencing sharp stabbing pain in my right, lower area, right next to or above my ovaries....I don't know how far the stomach goes down but I don't know if this is in the lower part of my stomach or intestines? It goes away after no eating...no pain at all when I woke up this morning or after I ate my eggs but after I ate a couple of strawberries, it's stabbing me... anyone experience this kind of pain or have any ideas... I thought maybe an ulcer? I don't think my band has slipped because I can eat and hold down food like normal....any ideas?
