    I want solid foooooooood!!!!

I’m over 5 years post op but remember the torture the first few weeks were. I was lucky to live alone and not have to be around food. Now, I can tolerate and eat anything. What you are feeling is normal and will pass, best wishes on your journey.

    Rice

I’m 5 years out and can tolerate anything including rice. It’s a blessing but it makes it a tad more difficult to maintain the weight.

    SO cold

Hi- I had RNY I almost 5 years ago. Got to 132 pounds and currently at 144. I am freezing all the time. It gets in my bones and I often have to sit in a hot bath to get warmed up. I ordered a heated vest. I take a heating pad with me to places when I can. Does anyone who also deals with this post op have any advice on what they do or wear? Thanks!

    Dating

I am super lucky that I was reunited with my first love from 27 years ago in June and now we’re engaged and he adores every inch of me. Before him, if I was seeing someone and it seemed to be a potential, I would go he’d never let them know. My last boyfriend also had surgery. He wasn’t even a year out and was still eating all the junk and alcohol he wanted being in the honeymoon phase. After almost a year and him not changing, I ended it and then my now fiancé stepped on the scene!

    3 years post op

GradyCat- how many oz of meat do you eat at a time? I’m not sure what my volume intake should be, if it’s still just one cup 3 times a day. I’m fairly certain I have stretched my pouch out and can eat way more.

    3 years post op

I’m a little over 3 years post op and due to bad choices have gained 18 pounds from my lowest weight. I need ideas of a typical day of eating from others who remain diligent to a low carb diet. How much protein and veggies are you in taking and do you count calories. TIA!

    Weight gain

I’m a little over 3 years post op losing 96 pounds and have gained 20 back with alcohol being the main reason. Also, it’s become a habit as I have been drinking daily. I tend to eat more and the wrong foods when drinking. Today is the second day I haven’t had a drink and I’m going to try to only drink on Friday and Saturday and switch from wine to sugar free vodka. I was a big drinker before surgery and an even bigger one after. I hope you find what works for you to lose the weight, best of luck!

    Hair loss

I was thinning before surgery and surgery just vamped up the process. I just embraced what I could not change and now wear toppers. I have three and no longer spend money getting my hair done, just put on a topper (I have different styles and lengths) and I’m good to go, I actually love it!

Can I see some before and after pics?

Surgery 12-3-18 weight 228. I got down to 132 and after this winter being stuck indoors and bored, 10 pounds have found there way back in. Time to tighten up and get moving!!!

    Alcohol 😳

Wine only for me. But let me warn you, you will get buzzed so quickly and my experience is I tend to “black out” if more than one glass. Being home alone for these months has prompted me to drink more out of boredom and I can see it potentially being an issue. My friend had VSG two years ago and is currently in rehab, alcohol is a slippery slope after WLS.

    Anyone else?

Whew, I’m on the struggle bus big time. I live alone and had a very active social life prior to this mess. So bored at home and it’s not the food as much as it is the wine. And not going to the gym, that’s been huge too. I started an anti depressant I April and it has been helpful. I had to lay to rest my dog of 14 years on May 30 so that was another whopper to deal with. Luckily, I’m working so I do get out, but overall it’s tough. And my mama got the virus- she lives a mile away from me and I haven’t seen her in two weeks and it will be another two weeks until I do. It starts in the mind and our thinking so I’m trying to read “mind” self help books. Best of luck to you, it’s such a weird and hard time!

Is anyone else like me? (almost normal)

I’ve said from day one I don’t even feel as though I’ve had surgery. I have only been full maybe a few times, never felt restriction, never sick, nothing has gotten stuck, I have been able to tolerate every single thing- no issue. I eat my one cup of food/ follow the protein guidelines and yet, never felt like I ate and I’m starving all the time. I’m almost 11 months out and although I’ve lost the weight, I regret my decision because never feeling full and hungry all the time was my battle before surgery and I feel no different.
  15. I was scheduled off 6 weeks but ended up being off 7 because of the pain and issues.
