  1. Well congrats on your surgery and the fact that you are compliant, even if it is the OCD "talking".....LOL...suppose this is one of the few times it is good to have OCD??? Also, seems kindof hard to not go to your monthly Dr.'s appointments when your doctor is hot, huh? If he says it is okay to start trying mushies, go for it, just BECAREFUL and do this in very tiny bits. Best of luck to you.........
  2. LOL....I know, I wanted so bad to ask my surgeon to lipo out about 20-25lbs for me. I would have even paid him cash to do it.....that would have been nice. Oh well, one can wish huh?!?!?!?!

I was approved, but didn't know!!!

You should have time......I had already done my psych eval though, but I was notified exactly one week prior to my surgery that I was to have it done. They called me on April 18 and told me they were scheduling me for an April 25 surgery, but my doc had to leave for a family emergency, so they pushed my surgery back to April 29, 2008. Needless to say, I got my bloodwork, ultrasound, and EKG done all on the Monday morning before my ORIGINAL surgery date, which was only 4 days away. You can do it, it is honestly not that hard. You do feel a little pressed for time, but if you want this done and you have a free day to spare in order to get all of your tests done, then do it!!!!
  4. Hey you.....hope you are doing well and not doing too much damage to the desk at work. I know riding a desk, especially a night, is pretty damn dangerous......LOL

    Frustrated and depressed

Coltonwade: I comlpetely understand about the watching the calories in the smoothies and I have one of Smoothie Kings Calories Charts I carry with me. The shake I get from them is a Low Car High Protein Shake that has 280 Calories for a 20oz shake, 7 carbs and, well shoot, I believe something like 35g protein but do not quote me on that part. It is a large amount of protein in a 20oz shake, just do not recall the exact amount. You are most def. right about the caloric intake though, as I was told to eat no less than 1000-1200 a day, anything less and my body would think it was starving and would start hording (sp) the food in all the nasty places I do not want it to go. Thanks for the advice =)

    Can't stop eating!

I was banded 4/29/2008 and like the rest, am hungrier than hell. I was told this is to be expected but that I should try hard to remain on liquid/mushy food for at least another 2-3 weeks. LOL...try telling that to my body......I have lost almost 16 since my surgery and would really hate to blow it, but everytime I see bread, Pasta, Cookies I want to dive into like Roseanne Barr use to dive into cheesepuffs on her comedy tours. Good gawd there were donuts today that I eyeballed like I was going to murder them with my teeth. Other posts are right, it is ALL about will power. I caved in an had a couple of cookies, which means 3, the other day but I stopped. I have not had any candy, ice cream, cake, Lord only knows that it is all around me almost everyday too. Here is what helps me: the creamed soups-baked potato, brocolli and cheese, chicken tortilla and tomato basil. They are smooth enough yet have more consistancy to fill me up. I also live on smoothie King Protein shakes (LOw Carb High Protein) and PowerBar protein plau chocolate & Peanut Butter bars (the peanut butter is not the same consistancy as regular peanut butter. I have found out that although I can tolerate a little (and do mean a little) bit a bread, I cannot tolerate straight peanut butter. Not suppose to have it anyway. You have to want to lose the weight bad enough to not give in to the temptation. Trust, I have to close the fridge door everyday and beg myself not to open it again. I have two kids at home that should not be deprived of breads, rice, Cereal etc. etc. Keep small portions around the house, this should keep you from eating too much also. Good Luck and Keep Us Posted!!

    Frustrated and depressed

I was banded on April 29, 2008, which makes me 2.5 weeks post op and I am ready to eat a cow. I have been very good about what I put in my mouth but will not lie, the last 2-3 days I have eaten 3 Cookies and some chips (just a handful). What worries me is that non of that hurt and non of it filled me up. I went in to see my doc this past Wed., May 14, 2008 and was inquiring about a fill, to which he told me he does not do them until we have been banded a minimum of 6-weeks. I told him that I am eating more than 4oz, that I am eating more like 10-12oz and it worries me. He asked what I was eating and about my Protein shakes, which I make regularly or I go to smoothie king and have them make me a low carb high protien one. Also about my Vitamin intake, which I adhere to. He told me that as long as I am losing weight, which I have lost 3 more lbs since last week, then I am fine. He said we would discuss a fill on my June 2 appointment when it has been 6 weeks. No worries, you are not the only one in ths boat. Figure out what you are eating and try elimanating some of it. I have found myself eating all day and it makes me feel like a cow, but I am steadily losing weight. So try this if it will help and give the second fill a couple of days. I have heard it can take up to 3-4 fills before it works for you. EVeryone is different. There is a lady who works with my fiance who had hers done 10 months ago and is just now going in for her first fill while I am needing one at 6weeks post op. Good Luck and keep us posted on your second fill!!! Krys

  9. I am only 3 days post op but the gas I have is something horrible:eek:. I can pass gas, well down below, but cannot burp to save my life. I have pains in my chest and my back, which I am told some do have trouble in the begining. I was told to walk, try lying in different positions and that eventually my body will catch up to the procedure. Not sure what else to tell ya except maybe try some Gas-X. The nurse in the hospital told me that it was okay to take that, just becareful how much you take, and it does depend on the meds your doc has you on.

    Ugh!

WOW Girl......sounds like when I started.........suggestion though, not sure about your Doc but mine says heck no on the Slm Fast shakes as they do not give you what you really need. Also, I mixed in frozen strawberries, blueberries and a banana with my protein shakes. I too have to have mine very very cold, so I blended in skim milk and ice. Let me tell you, that makes ALL the difference in the world. I started my protein shakes one week before my surgery, which was Tuesdaym 4/29/2008m and I lost 8lbs. Now, all I had were the protien shakes and Propel water, but when you add the fruit to them, it makes a world of difference. Try using, if you have on near you, Smoothie King's Gladiator Low Carb Meal Replacement. It has 45g protein and only 1g carb!! It does S-U-C-K in the begining, but you get use to it and pretty soon, heck they are like a real meal. I know, a tad boring, but when you look at the big picture, it is worth it in the long run!!! Keep it up and good luck!!!!!
