Weigh in... how much have u lost?
NY2LAGirl replied to Southern Missy's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I too was banded May 13th and have had 1 fill so now I have 5cc's and don't feel any restriction yet my next fill is the 2nd week of July. I am getting very frustrated I know I should be jumping up and down that I have lost 17 lbs but the last 2 weeks I have only lost 1 pound a week. I joined DailyPlate and have been tracking everything I put in my mouth (I am on solids) I average about 650 calories a day you would think the pounds would be dropping off but NO!!!!! -
This thread took an interesting turn!:biggrin2: I have had real constipation problems but I am only a few weeks post op and my doc wants me to avoid salads etc that used to keep me regular. He wants mostly a protein diet at this stage so I am taking 2 stool softeners each night to keep things moving along:redface:
-
my pre-op diet was 2 days of clear liquids plus my protein drink. So glad that is behind me now that whole liquid stage pre & post op seems like a long ago nightmare now!!!!! LOL

Went in for my Post-Op Appt today and got a fill~!

I was banded on May 13th and went in for my 1st post op visit on June 3rd and got my 1st fill. It was so easy I barely felt a thing other than the initial little pinch. I have 5cc's now, I drank 3 small cups of water right after with no difficulty so he told me liquids till breakfast then he let me start regular food since I was 21 days out. I don't feel I have restriction yet but I am really trying to keep to small portions. For some reason I just thought I would feel different. I am still hungry am trying hard to eat healthy and get all my protein in. -

I have lost 13 lbs since surgery 5/13 and I have my 1st post-op doctors visit tomorrow where he will decide if I will get my first fill. If not he goes away and I won't get one until JULY!!!!!! I am praying for the early fill to jump start my weight lose only lost 2 lbs since starting mushy's. -
can't believe your doctor told you no sex for that long, mine said 2 weeks but because I had hernia repair 4 weeks. That bit about the glue tag sounds painful!!!!!!! Best of luck tomorrow!
-
my doctor said no pool or baths for 1 month but I went in yesterday at 3 weeks figured my wounds are closed.....
-
mamareid I know what you are saying it's a catch 22 you need the pain meds but between those and no calories you feel like you are walking around in a fog. My pain lasted a good week! I still 20 days later have discomfort but it's manageable. Now it feels like a muscle strain. When I went to my surgeon 6 days after surgery crying from weekness he told me to add calories by having at least 1 fruit smoothie a day and I drank Kashie GoLean Protein shake made with milk at the advice of another bandster and it made a world of difference, maybe I would have lost more than I have but at least I was living and not the walking dead!!!!

NSV Thread for the May Bandsters!
NY2LAGirl replied to pinkdots410's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I thought 13 lbs would be a big difference but no one has noticed I have lost weight!!!!!!! But on a good note some of my old capri's I can fit into again. I was down to wearing sweats everyday because I didn't want to buy bigger clothes so that is a victory!!!!! -
I am having trouble finding stuff to eat also. I don't have it in me like some of you to puree table food like pizza and hamburger as I have read some of you do so I have been eating a lot of chicken salad, egg salad, pinto beans pureed with cheese and scrambled eggs. I am so sick of soup from the liquid stage but I guess I may have to add some again. I go to the doctor tomorrow for my 1st post-op visit and I may be getting a fill because he will be away for a month and they don't want me waiting that long. So proud of all us May bandsters we are all losing!!!!!!

Jodi I was banded on 5/13 and had that same ripping pain. I went to the doctor crying turns out it was the port site and the pain stopped on day 7. I found the more I walked the better it felt but I did have to hold it every time I stood up for the first 7 days. I promise it will get better!!!!! Good luck and don't be afraid to use that pain med!

Curious: An example of a days worth of food-after being banded?
NY2LAGirl replied to Startingover!'s topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I just started my mushie stage and this is what I had yesterday: Breakfast: 1 scrambled egg with cheese Lunch: 1 serving Pinto's & Cheese from Taco Bell Dinner: chicken salad (pureed) on saltines (about 4) mid-afternoon snack: applesauce cup I also try to sip something thru-out the day -
If you have a realize band that go to their website www.RealizeBand.com they have a great program but your doctor needs to give you his personal surgeon practice ID #. Good Luck
-
I had the same problem and when I went to my surgeon I was dehydrated so drink, drink drink!
-
I too was so weak about 7 days out that when I went to my doctor crying from weakness and turns out I was dehydrated. He put me on full liquids and even told me he wanted me taking in calories. He told me to have a smoothie from a smoothie shop everyday. I also drink a protein shake with higher calories kashie golean. I may lose slower but I feel better. I would have a sit down with your doc if I was you. Good Luck you will do great!!!!!!!

Update requested from May bandsters.. May 11th, 12th, etc....
NY2LAGirl replied to mstrina27's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Nance not to be too personal but the protein drinks can be very constipating which can cause weight gain. My doc cut me down to 40 grams of protein a day because of that problem. Good Luck!!!!!!! -
