My stomach hurts when I eat.. is this normal?
NY2LAGirl replied to CaliGirl626's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was banded the day after you and had my first fill at my post-op too! I find if I don't chew well I get a pain in my chest that feels like I swallowed a golf ball. It doesn't last long but boy does it hurt. I find if I am starving by the time I stop to eat I forget to chew well and that's when it hits me. I don't have any restrictions yet and I have 5cc's in my band. -
Why won't this gas go away?!?
NY2LAGirl replied to jeremiahsmommy's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was banded May 13th and yesterday my shoulder was killing me like I had my surgery the day before. My doctor did warn me it would take up to a few months for it to go away. Gas-x was a big help for me so is walking. Hang in there!!!!!!! -
Sounds like you might only have to do a short liquid pre-diet. I only had to do 2 days pre-op so it was manageable.

IVYROSE spoken like a true New Yorker!!!!!! I miss my NY cannoli!!!! Try finding a decent canolli in LA ugh! I do the ricotta thing with equal too as desert when I am still hungry after dinner.

You poor thing I can't imagine having to get in front of a bunch of kids needing all the energy that that requires and not being able to eat breakfast. That's the most important meal of the day, it jump starts your metabolism. My favorite breakfast is the cottage cheese that comes with the fruit in a side cup. It not a lot, it's just enough, the one with pineapple is the best! I also do the carnation drink or a slim fast food replacement bar.

Welcome Dennis you have made the right choice! I found this site pre-surgery also and found it extremely helpful and informative. Everyone has the same worries as you, just put them out here and you will find everyone very helpful. Does your doctor require a pre-surgical liquid diet?

Allison in my mushy stage I lived on egg salad and I would make a pureed chicken salad. I would make it the consistency of Hummas and it was awesome and because it was protein it helps to make you feel full. My doctor also let me have saltines during my mushy stage so I would put my salads on that. Good luck you are doing great 20 lbs....when was the last time you lost 20 lbs? Keep up the good work!

Jello is great and so is sugar free ice pops! -

Mari I was 195 when I went for my first appt with my doctor. I didn't have enough other medical issues and my insurance company didn't think my sleep apnea was severe enough therefore they denied my claim so I had to self pay. It doesn't necessarily have to be based on BMI. My cousin had gastric bypass 2 days ago and she is the exact height and weight as you but she was border line diabetic and had high blood pressure. The only way to get the answers you seek is to make that appointment with a surgeon! Don't let fear stop you, you have made the first step by joining this site now take the next one.....good luck!:frown:

What are friends for? This whole thread has kept me laughing!!!!!! To much serious crap in this world

I got my first fill a week ago and honestly didn't think it hurt at all, it was just a little pinch. I think getting blood taken is a hell of a lot worse!! I had 3cc's in there and he added 2cc's at my fill. I didn't have to drink water until after he was done. At this point I have no restriction at all and really have to watch everything I put in my mouth. I keep a food diary on dailyplate.com. I am praying my next fill in July gives me some restriction. BTW I love reading your posts they are very funny!

NY2LAGirl replied to weightisover's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
My doctor told me to toast my bread also and I haven't had any problems except the one time I was starving and my first few bites I didn't chew well.....needless to say I learned my chewing lesson after having that I swallowed a golf ball feeling for a few moments. -

I gulp and I haven't had any adverse reactions. I haven't tried a straw yet which some docs say is a no-no. -
