Calcium and Wii Fit
NY2LAGirl replied to BroncosGalAndrea's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My doctors office said I could do Tums or Viativ(?) to get in my daily calcium. I LOVE my Wii Fit my 10 year old and I work out everyday. Who would think a video game could be so exhausting. I love to hula-hoop brings me back to my younger years! -
how big is your band?
NY2LAGirl replied to MarylandMommy's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have a 12cc Allergen band filed with 6 1/2 cc's after my second fill -
my band has a bubble , blister type aneurysm type thing in it
NY2LAGirl replied to vikkiann's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Dr Billy I see, he is my surgeon too. Doesn't he work for Allergen in some capacity? I thought I remember him telling me that. I can't see how they won't cover it. Good luck and keep me informed! -
Question, Help! Big 'ol lump in throat??
NY2LAGirl replied to ImaGoofball's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
At my fill yesterday my doctor told me if I felt ANYTHING out of the ordinary to come in and they would evaluate me to see if they need to take out some fill. I would call your doctor if in doubt! -
I am self-pay and at the time of surgery if I paid an extra $1000.00 I would have fills for life. Figured it would pay for itself in the first year.

Finally got my 2nd fill yesterday. I now have 6 1/2ccs in a 12 cc band. Doctor told me I could go back to solids today so at lunch I had grilled chicken breast skewers. I had about 2oz and couldn't eat another bite. I was elated, but 1 1/2-2 hours later I was hungry again so I had a slice of 1/2 cal. toast with a smear of peanut butter(something my doc recommends for protein) and I have that stuck feeling. How will I lose if I am still hungry between meals?

NY2LAGirl replied to Southern Missy's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Paige everyone losses at a different pace don't get discouraged 16 lbs is amazing! Would you have done that without your band? BTW my weight loss is including my pre-op liquid diet. Had my 2nd fill yesterday and was told I probably need 1 or 2 more to hit the sweet spot. I now have 6 1/2 cc's in a 12cc band. -
Hello i'm stuck... and a bit lost lol
NY2LAGirl replied to judeloren's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Just had my second fill now I have 6 1/2 cc's in my 12 cc band. Doc said liquids for 12 hours then soft foods only if I find I can't handle the solids. -
can anybody answer my question pls
NY2LAGirl replied to choopie's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Choopie, keep in mind EVERY person on this journey gets a different pre-op diet. Some are on liquid two weeks before or more, or some like myself only 48 hours before so chances are you didn't hurt your surgery chances but you should always consult with your doctors office if you are worried about something, they know your health history and can advise you properly. We didn't get to this point over night, we have been bingeing and cheating a long time to be where we need WLS to get healthy so don't let yourself or anyone else beat you up over 1 missed-step! Just take a deep breath and start over again. I am sure it won't be the last time you fall back on old habits. If someone on here says they never do I would say they are in denial....LOL;) -
Hello i'm stuck... and a bit lost lol
NY2LAGirl replied to judeloren's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I can't speak from experience as I am new to this journey and I don't have restriction yet but I have read plenty and most people say they are tight for days after a fill, some doctor even require liquids for days after a fill (mine only 8 hours) then it begins to loosen up. Are you chewing well? My doctor says chew until almost liquified/pureed in my mouth before swallowing. Good luck tomorrow! I would try again and see how it goes. Keep us informed. -
"Slider' foods that good for you- suggestions?
NY2LAGirl replied to sadie11's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
There is a restaurant near me that makes a chicken "spread" that is the consistency of hummus. It is sooooo unbelievable. I also like Hormel firehouse chili with 2% mexican cheese sprinkled on top with a tablespoon of fat-free sour cream.....yummy! Great now I am hungry! -
I get my fills in the afternoon and my doctor lets me go back to solids with breakfast the next day. maybe you can ask your doctor if you can eat lightly instead of liquids. Pureed foods for example.
-
5th fill, wow how often are you going? I am having my 2nd tomorrow and I feel like I have lost and gained the same 2 lbs for the last 2 weeks so I am right there with you. Do you know how big your band is? Maybe your doc is only putting in 1/2 cc at a time so you may not have that much in the band. My doctor told me that the day of surgery my band fit me like a hula-hoop so I would need a few fills to feel restriction. I have 5cc's right now and I am STARVING!!!!! I bet if I walked into McDonalds right now I could eat a Big Mac and French Fries. So I am assuming that I am in for the long journey. Stay Strong!

How easy or difficult has it been to lose weight with Lap Band?
NY2LAGirl replied to photo's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I agree with what most people said here if you have restriction it's easier. Right now I am dieting every second of every day. So far with my 5cc's I have no restriction and I am feeling very hungry these last few days and found myself taking a cookie or two without even thinking about it. An old habit I guess. NOT GOOD! Hoping after my second fill tomorrow I can say oh yeah this is easy....... -
I get that every time I eat to fast or don't chew well enough.

Peanut Butter and Jelly???
NY2LAGirl replied to alice150's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Creamy peanut butter was on my ok to eat list on my mushie stage. I now spread it on well toasted half calorie bread with sugar free jelly for breakfast when I am not in the mood to cook something. I have yet to have a problem unless I eat too fast. -

Who feels pretty normal with their fill????
NY2LAGirl replied to LundyLane's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I have 5cc in my Realize band and I REALLY have to watch myself because I can eat anything and way more than that 1/2 cup - 1 cup of food I was told I should be able to eat so I know where you are at. I called my doctor and he told me I need another fill so I go in 2 weeks. -
My doctor says I only get a fill if I need one. I would cancel your fill appt. 50 lbs lost is great!

I'm new here and thinking about the Lap Band Surgery
NY2LAGirl replied to MissBevy's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Missbevy being only 1 year younger than you I can't imagine having twins!!! :tt2: I do have a 10 year old boy and I know what you mean about keeping up, it is very tough. My son wanted to take horseback riding lessons with me and I was told I was too heavy. (180 was the limit)That was the deciding point for me. I too have a degenerative spinal Dx and I had sleep apnea (which has improved 99% already) and my blood pressure was slowly creeping up. My insurance would not pay so I am a self-pay. In 2 months I am down 21 lbs and I can eat anything without difficulty. Granted I don't have restriction yet but some without restriction have difficulty eating but not me. Now I watch everything I eat on daily plate.com and try to stay at around 1000 calories a day so if I want that choc. kiss I have it but I don't over do it! I eat my protein first then try to get in my veggies or fruit. The funny thing is I don't want the sweets I craved so much before surgery and I have no explaination why. The ONLY time I need choc. is during TOM and I have dark choc 1 square, that's it. Do your research go to a few free seminars with different docs and I am sure if you decide to go the lap band route you won't regret it. There are so many amazing people on this site who will be there for you every step of the way, you will never be alone! -
Drew as a cash patient I didn't have to jump through all the hoops but I can tell you at almost 2 months post-op it is worth everything you are going through!!!! Every pound lost is a victory and means a longer healthier life and I commend you for making this life altering decision at such a young age!
