Nilsa 52 pounds in a year is an awesome place to be! My doctor said to expect to lose a pound or two a week and judging by that formula you are right on track. Congratulations!

Felicia you are melting away!!!! -
KayTay right here with you! I am having my 3rd fill Aug 13th and hope I have more restriction. I have had some major PB'ing/sliming when I have eaten too fast or the food is very dry but I don't think that is restriction. I am still not feeling full when sitting down to eat I am self monitoring and stopping at around 4 oz or 1200 calories a day.I am bored to tears with chicken so I just bought the WW cook book so if I see anything interesting I will PM you with the recipe. Stress and eating go together so with your husband laid off you must be STRONG! Good luck.

Hilda I am soooooo glad it worked out for you! Congratulations.

VikkiAnn I was thinking of you today so I thought I would write. Just wondering if Dr. Billy & Jessica were able to straighten out your band defect and if the company is paying for it? -
bombaman I can't believe these horror stories. I would demand the doctor do the next few fills preferably with a fluoroscope and not his assistant. My doctor made me lie on the table and do a modified sit up and my port sticks out so far I could do my own fill. I never heard of doing it standing up but each doctor is different. I will say when his assistant did my second fill she wasn't as smooth and gentle as the doctor with all his experience was, she did dig more. But they both told me they won't numb patients first because it's the same pain as the fill. Good luck with the next fill please keep us updated!

I eat 3 meals a day just cereal for breakfast which my doctor doesn't like but it's all I can manage when I try eggs I get the golf ball thing, for lunch and dinner I have protein either shrimp, chicken, sushi, hamburger patty stuff like that and in between meals I have a protein bar that is at least 19 grams of protein. I found when I didn't do this I was so starving that when it came time to eat I would eat too fast, not chew and be in pain. As far as vitamins I take a Centrum chewable in the am, 1 Viactiv chewable twice a day and a B-12 under the tongue once a day. Please let me know what happens tomorrow!!!!!!

Way to go Felicia, nice visual!!!!!!! -
Hilda you poor thing how FRUSTRATING!!!!! Doesn't your doctor have a fluoroscope right in his office? About loosing the weight in the beginning and after the first few fills you still have to diet because the band isn't really doing anything. You won't lose based just on having a band because there is no restriction. I have had 2 fills and am just starting to feel some restriction I am hoping with my 3rd next month to have a decent amount to finally feel like the band is doing it's thing. Just try to eat protein about 4oz or so per meal then veggies or fruit. Try to eat as little carbs possible and you should see some weight lose.........best of luck tomorrow with that fill!!!!!!!!

My doctor had me taking vitamins(pills) the day after my surgery I never had to have liquids. He just told me to chew them well.

B-Man I wish mine was that simple and I also can't always figure what's going to cause it. One day I will eat something and be fine and the next time I eat it I am in agony for a good half hour while I slime up food slowly. Like yesterday I had chicken for lunch and got down about 2 oz. Had the left overs for dinner had about 3 bites and started sliming it up for the next 10 minutes. UGH!

Hope this answers your questions: 1)How uncomfortable/sore is it? Generally once the incision heals it isn't sore. Although it can become sore if who ever fills you is a bit rough. 2)Do you always feel it or does it just become like a part of your body after a while? If I touch it I feel it right under my skin but I am not conscience of it at all. 3)After you're done losing all the weight you want, does that fill port stay there? Yes of course it is part of the banding system it will be there unless you have to have the band removed. There is a site that explains the whole band go to lapband.com

I bought a pair of denim capri's 2 sizes smaller than I have been wearing and I decided to finally wear them when I walked down the stairs my 26 year old son was walking into the front door. He hadn't seen me in a week and he looks up at me and says Mom you look so skinny and gave me the biggest hug. I was grinning from ear to ear. -
I too went to a women and I had to pay $250.00 but some of it was covered by my insurance. It was the typical psych 45 minute session and basically I think she wanted to make sure I wasn't a cosmetic surgery addict or that I was of sound mind and I could handle the changes the surgery would bring to my life. It was actually a nice session, she offered up some nice suggestions for those days ahead when things would be tough. My cousin did "fail" her 1st session because the doctor didn't think she was prepared to make the necessary changes in her life but she challenged the decision and was able to have the surgery.

I am with all of you I was banded in May and although I can't seem to have a regular BM I have tons of gas!!!!!!!!

Tina you sound like a wonderful caring person. It's time to start taking care of yourself now! You are too young to give up on yourself. I would start by making an appt with your doctor and make sure everything is ok with your band and if it is I would get back on track by getting a fill. Instead of stopping for fast food does your local market sell roasted chickens or any other prepared protein meals you could choose from? Maybe you can start by doing a cleanse, like doing liquids for a few days to jump start things. Good Luck!

Looking for a surgeon in or around the San Fernando Valley
NY2LAGirl replied to Neptune's topic in Weight Loss Surgeons & Hospitals
Neptune just came across your post I would highly suggest you visit my surgeons web-site www.journeylite.com. I loved Dr Billy and he has an amazing support staff if you wish to use them. I paid $13,500 for the surgery and for an extra $1000.00 I get after care and fills for life. It should more than pay off the 1st year since most doctors charge about $150-250 per fill. And they really encourage you to come in all the time for weigh ins, support groups once a month, or to meet with the nutritionist. He has a free seminar once a month for those considering the procedure and he really lays it on the line. After listening you are either in or you are out! If you have any questions feel free to PM me and welcome to LA moved here 15 years ago from NY it was like moving to another planet......lol -

fluffycat you are still in what everyone calls bandster hell. You have that band but it isn't doing it's thing yet but every once in a while it reminds you it's there with a little sliming, PBing or the dreaded golf ball in the chest pain. I found with my limited experience that dry, or dense food is what doesn't go done well. Chicken just sliced dry makes me get the golf ball thing so I need to spread a bit of non-fat mayo on it. As for how much you can eat sometimes I can eat more than others but if it's just protein you WILL still lose weight it's all the other stuff that drags you down. I usually have a kashi cereal(high in protein) for breakfast because my Doctor knows I hate breakfast and the cereal is fast and easy. For lunch I will have a cheeseburger no bun and some fruit like watermelon or grapes (have to eat those slow & chew) and for dinner I will have a chicken breast which I cook using different weight watchers recipes to mix it up. Last nigh I had a chicken burrito minus the tortilla. I do eat a high protein power bar between meals to hold off starving then eating too fast at the next meal. Even though I have some restriction I still can't go between meals without something! Good Luck with that fill! -
angelic_1 I just started to feel restriction after my 2nd fill I have 6.5cc's in a 12cc band. I will probably get one more fill haven't decided yet.....
