This was my fave part about my reduction 10 years ago. Instead of my droopy water balloons, I got perky (albeit much smaller) girls who defied gravity. Now with >115 pounds gone since that time, they’ve all but disappeared, but at least I don’t have all of the loose skin

THE SLOW LOSERS CLUB SUPPORT THREAD

Exactly! This is why so often I was putting slow in quotes, but I didn’t on that one, lol. There will be those phenoms who for whatever reason are able to drop >3 pounds/week in the first few weeks. The rest of us see that and maybe we’re going through a rough patch and we’re stalled and then it seems as if nothing is going right even when it actually is. I’m fairly lucky in a regard. I had my WLS after having all of my children, after cancer, after hysterectomy, and after menopause. All of those things truly eff with your metabolism and I got all those “out of the way” so they never slowed me down. Of course all of those things contributed to me being MO to,start with, so there’s that. 🤣🤣

    February 2019 weight loss buds

So I’m almost loath to admit that at least 50% of my days open like this. The coffee/protein goes down around 11-12 pm, then I hit the p3 about an hour later. After that sometimes I don’t care to eat til 3-4pm and then by 6-7pm, I’m not extremely interested in dinner. I’ve got to get better with not only variety, but with quantity. Anna, I’m so sorry you’re struggling to get in those calories and I totally feel your pain Sweetie give yourself some time and some TLC. you started this journey at 35% BMI so you’re in a scarier place, but I’m convinced you’ll figure a way out of it. Keep in touch with a NUT. They should be able to help. This week I’ve made a renewed effort to get in up to 1100 cals daily. I’ve failed both days, but I’m logging food again in the hopes that will give me accountability and own the fact that I’m not eating as much as I should.

Um the cellulite on my upper thighs says.... NOPE. Back in college when I was in the 120’s, way younger and a size 4 I still had the thunder thighs and that surely didn’t Improve over the last 30 years. So if I ever want bathing suit options that don’t include shorts, it’s plastic surgery or bust.

Love the outfits. Lol, today I got an early start at the Pilates studio, then after I got home my daughter was there and she had surprised me with this cute workout top that she found at TJ Maxx. Had to throw it in over my tank top and take a selfie:

THE SLOW LOSERS CLUB SUPPORT THREAD

Again, I think the definition of “slow loser” is tough. For example, I just looked over my weight logs for the first 6 months, and this is what I found: on AVERAGE I lost 2.69 pounds/week. I went from 246.0 to 176.6from February 6-August 6th. Okay, so the first 2 weeks I lost 22 pounds, and I had several stall weeks, but it’s important to look at a several month range before rushing to judgement. Since August 6th, I’ve lost an AVERAGE of 1.54 pounds/week. Went from 176.6 to 140.8 BTW, goal weight was 155, which I had hit in mid-October. I’m waaaaaaay more proud of the loss after the first 6 months than I am of the initial losses. Logically that shouldn’t hold, bc it’s more than a pound/week DECREASE, but those pounds had to come with harder work and really focusing on my plan and then working said plan The actual numbers aren’t as important as HAVING A GOOD PLAN AND THEN WORKING THAT PLAN. I’m not saying every day was a success. Especially during the holidays, I had some hedonistic eating (and drinking days). I had one day in there that I know for a fact I DRANK over 2,000 calories in cocktails. Overall though, it’s worked bc every day I wake with focus and intensity and that drinking day was actually something I had planned ahead of time, as weird as that sounds. In short, when I’ve fallen off-plan, it was intentionally and not coming from a place of mental stress or getting caught up in the moment. According to many people’s definition, I’m definitely a slow loser (

Thanks so much guys for being here as we all made this journey. I can’t believe it’s been almost a year. My surgery was initially scheduled for January 23rd, then a snafu by one of the office staff at my clinic delayed approval and I couldn’t get in til feb 6th. I remember being so disappointed at the time, but I had only discovered BP in the week or two prior to surgery and so that’s when I found this group. If I’d gotten the original date, I’d never have posted in this group, and I’m now so very thankful for that delay. I hope that we can all stay as engaged as possible and keep this thread going. For me, this is a major accountability tool and I’m planning on using it as much and as effectively as I can. All of you guys have helped so much and I’m grateful to each and every one of you. 💕
  9. Might have to try the granola idea. I’ve been avoiding yogurts all along because those are big-time sliders for me and they make me crave carbs (I only really like the flavored ones) but maybe I can test out adding some honey and granola and see where it takes me. It would have to be lunch though bc anything thicker than protein shake in the am “sticks” and gives me stomach cramps. Can’t be productive if I’m feeling like I wanna lie down and die for an hour in the morning. I tried peanut butter once a few months ago— didn’t sit well but I can try it again I suppose. Eggs are still an epic struggle for me. They used to be one of my fave foods of all time and now they don’t like me. 😭😭😭
  10. Yeah, well tonite as I was doing dinner prep for our Cobb salad, I grabbed a handful of pecans and ate them. Then I ate a second palm-full. Lol, guess who was only able to eat half her salad? 🤣🤣🤣🤣 This is gonna be a live-and-learn process for real.

My kryptonite is potato chips. When we went to DC last month, I thought I was being smart in buying some pita chips and hummus, but the pita chips triggered me the same way unfortunately. With the amount of restriction that I still have, I can wolf down half a bag of pita chips AND 3 glasses wine apparently. It was frightening how quickly it all went in and sadly it didn’t make me one bit sick. We didn’t buy any kind of chips the rest of the trip....

THE SLOW LOSERS CLUB SUPPORT THREAD

Okay, jumping into this thread a bit late, but I lost pretty slowly and still got to (and now 14 pounds under) goal weight. The main point is to trust the process and keep working your plan. I see where many of you guys have identified places that might be causing the slower loss, so as long as those issues are addressed and corrected, the process should start to roll easier. I’m almost certain that 18:6 IF is what finally got me past a couple of “sticking points” and to goal. I’ve lost 106 pounds since surgery on 2-6-19, which isn’t even 10 pounds/month. The key was that I did manage to lose consistently 6-7 pounds monthly after the initial massive loss. It doesn’t take dramatic numbers, it just takes consistency and willingness to work the program every single day.
  13. Thanks. Wow, I seriously dunno how I’m going to start eating before 11am. I’m thinking of some sliders (maybe mixed nuts?) and hummus and veggies (which are slider-ish for me) to compensate. So now I’m thinking I do IF on work days, which are typically 4-5 day/week now that our overtime for the holidays is over. The days I’m off work, I can try to fit in extra food. Lol, somehow I’m absolutely certain I’m gonna dip down into the 130’s. On my 5’7” frame, that’s gonna look a bit dramatic, but I keep telling myself I’m fit, I’m able to live a very active lifestyle, and I’m good about taking my supplements, and I’m doing great on protein and water so it should even out

    February 2019 weight loss buds

Okay, but I’m 5’7”, so I think that’s the difference. Okay, so now I’m going to sound like @Recidivist After losing my thanksgiving/vacay regain, I decided to not weigh myself for a month. My last recorded weight was 146.6 on 12-14-19 I practice 16:8 IF, but I also had many days in there where I ate and drank like a hedonist. I still take selfies and it dawned on me that I was looking noticeably “skinnier” so I decided to weigh a week early to see if I was just imagining it. Nope! I’m now 140.8. 😱😱😱😱😱 How???. I’m all the way up to 1000-1100 cals daily and that was on the days I didn’t overindulge. On those days I bet I DRANK 1000 cals day. Here is a pic from 2 days ago: I’m now wearing size 6 skinny jeans and the top is a freaking SMALL. I guess my body was in a month-long stall and I thought it was maintenance. Now I’m losing again. 🤣🤣🤣

    My Plastic Surgery Thread

Please take care and rest as much as you need to
  16. Okay guys, I’m trying to decide if I need to change anything. I’ve IF’d since month 3 PO. The main reason I chose the 16:8 fasting style is I would be in pain and my water intake would suffer if I tried to eat a meal before 11-11:30 in the morning and it didn’t matter if I woke up at 5am or at 9am. Before 11am HURT to put solids in. I’m very good at protein first, anything else second during my eating window, so I never really stressed the protein. If I fell short, i drank a cup of milk between meals and make it up. All of this has contributed to my smashing success in losing above and beyond all expectations set by my doctors and by myself. I’m truly an outlier at well >100% excess fat lost. Honestly though, my 16:8 fast almost every day has become a source of comfort and routine and I love the lifestyle. I’ve never before in my life been more comfortable managing hunger and getting in healthy nutrients that my body needs and thrives on. That being said, I decided to abstain from the scale for a month back on December 14. On that date, I had successfully taken off my 4 pound regain from thanksgiving/vacay and I felt ready to conquer the rest of the holiday “doing my usual” with the exception of several cheat days. My thought process was to not stress myself out during the holidays— enjoy life, weigh a few weeks later, and assess the damage. Well yesterday am I woke up and it dawned on me that I was visibly looking “skinner” and I actually could feel that I was lighter (not a normal feeling for me) so I decided to get on the scale about a week early. Guys, I went from 146.4 down to 140.6!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! This was completely by accident bc I had a few hedonistic days in there. Now I’ve starts training for a half later this year and I’m a bit worried about all of the cardio I’ll be doing to get ready. Yet I DO NOT want to give up my IF. It’s my comfort zone and my security blanket. what’s a girl to do?

Okay. I’ve finally caught up on this thread. Wow..... just....wow EVERYONE looks absolutely amazing and I’m so afraid I’d forget many of y’all so I’ll just say DANG YALL ARE AMAZING! This last weekend I finally did a consignment store shop for a new wardrobe- well half a wardrobe as it was about 80% work clothes, but I did get 2 pair skinny jeans, 4 Pairs work slacks, 11 tops and a very interesting long sweater. For the first time in AGES I bought things with horizontal stripes! Okay, so I wore this outfit the other day running errands and I need opinions: the people at the consignment store assured me I didn’t look like a plus-size Waldo, but my inner fat girl still feels insecure with these stripes and leggings combo. FWIW, the sweater top is a size SMALL. small. #mindblown. So I’m posting frontal and side pics to get opinions

Okay so I’ve FINALLY got some time off and I just HAD TO respond to this: 1. I’ve accidentally lost another 6 pounds (finally weighed yesterday for the first time since 12-14 and I’m down to 140.6-eek) 2. These last 10-15 pounds gone off of my body have REALLY exaggerated the loose skin and are making it much more difficult to find clothes with a good fit. I can now totally relate to the big legs, tight-across-the-hip fit. Making my argument for plastics all the more real

Okay. I’ve got about 5 mins before I need to leave for work guys I’ve worked so much since the 30th I’ve almost lost track of the day. I’m back now, but work is still crushing me. Started training for a half that I want to run later this year and still doing 5-7 Pilates classes Weekly Maybe Wednesday I’ll have time to revirew and comment, but not today. Here is my OOTD from yesterday. I’m wearing size 6 skinny jeans. #mindbkown

Congrats guys. I’ll admit that once I got my vacation regain off I stopped weighing myself. My clothes seem to fit the same and I take a lot of selfies and I don’t appear to visually be much different. id love to live the rest of my life weighing myself once monthly or less and managing my size that way.

Okay so I’m gonna promote IF again whenever I’ve had a bad few days and I feel myself climbing onto the carb roller coaster ride from hell, I fast for 14-16 hours and within a day I’m back

Six months post-op+ : The Sophomores Thread

As a health care professional, I’m ALWAYS reminding my patients that they own their healthcare, the provider is the person with the expertise yes, but ultimately it is their body and their health. Sometimes I get odd looks, but when I go to do a consult and people want to move on with their day I’ll hold their rxs hostage sometimes until they can at least tell me what they’re even taking them for. When people apologize to me for asking a question, my answer is that my JOB is to make sure they’re as healthy and as informed as possible. It stuns me that not every single professional in the field has the same attitude
