10. What I like most about myself is that I never give up on myself. 11. Meal for 1 is a daily occurrence. Here is my dinner from last night Didn’t take the after shot because I ate the other half avocado this morning with a pouch of tuna and the cottage cheese got all over everything so it was looking pretty messy.

February 2019 weight loss buds

I had the sleeve, but I had horrible GERD and I had to have an endoscopy done before they would let me have the sleeve instead of bypass. I’m on a daily pantoprazole and dr said I should be able to be off of it 6 months post surgery so it’s just too soon for me to know what my situation is. I do know that I take that pantoprazole religiously out of fear of acid reflux or stomach upset. I can say I’ve had zero acid indigestion, but that’s not surprising right now. Guess I’ll know in 4 more months. I can say for sure that the GERD isn’t worse though, so there’s that -

Hmmm. Guess my Dr wanted to skip the 6 week visit and go straight from 2 weeks to 4 months 🤷♀️ -

Congrats on joining us again in the discussion. I find it really helps keep me focused and plugged in even when I’m having busy/bad days and all I have time is to read and post a single quick post. I started walking on my treadmill day 3 post surgery. I was making me crazy to feel like a sick invalid and since walking was encouraged, I did it. Started out walking just 1 mile per day and was up to 5 miles by the time I went back to work 2 weeks later. I started Pilates at week 4 (didn’t want to stress my core out too much too fast) I still walk 1-2 times per week and I go to Pilates classes 3-4 times weekly. -

Weird how different places work. Mine saw me at 2 weeks, and didn’t want to see me again til week of memorial day. And my surgery was at the beginning of February -
No lunges and no planks, but I did work a 10hr busy shift and then went to the thunder game. Lots of walking and stair climbing and jumping up and down cheering and I drank over 96 ounces water. Lol, probably going to get up at least twice to go to the bathroom, but it will be worth it

February 2019 weight loss buds

Okay guys. Another long day so I’m going to try to hit a few points then collapse in bed again. I count my calories as total. It’s too rough to count calories out because many days I get in 10,000 steps by noon at work, but I don’t really count that as exercise steps. Besides, I’ve been doing that for over 25 years and I got really really fat in spite of getting 20,000 steps/day. 🤣🤣 My doc and Nut didn’t give me any calorie goals, but it freaked me out that I got close to 800. That’s a slippery slope I want to avoid at all costs. They did tell me to shoot for 60gm protein and keep daily net carbs under 30-40. Keeping the carbs down is super easy because I don’t eat any unless it is part of a vegetable and my sleeve can’t hold that many veggies. I guess I also get a few carbs from my dairy, but it’s pretty minimal. Getting in enough protein can be a struggle, but I’m working on it. After such a hungry day yesterday, I struggled to get food down today. Made a scrambled egg with 1/2 piece american cheese and tried to eat it at 11am. Got in 3 bites and my stomach started spasming and it felt like I had swallowed 3 rocks. So I put that away and a few hrs later I had a handful of almonds and 1 ounce Brie. Almost had to force myself to eat dinner at 7, but I finally did. So far today is way under 500 calories 🤷♀️ Oh and I eat salad on the regular. Granted, it’s just a few forkfuls, but I eat it. Missing salad was one of the very worst things during those weeks of not being able to have solid food and it’s one of the first things I went for. -
Not gonna lie. Today was a complete challenge in and of itself. Battled hunger and crankiness, but I did get a lot of water in. After work and Pilates, I’ve got nothing left in the tank. Tomorrow is a new day though so I’m optimistic

Lol. I’m also considering the name Cleo- short for Cleopatra—- the queen of denial.

Thanks for sharing. Honestly I pretty much went from purées in week 3 to regular meat thereafter. I still don’t have much room for much beyond protein, but by late in the day my sleeve will hold 3/4-1 cup food and I pack the protein in. I’ve never been a fan of protein shakes or bars, so I decided to consume whole food and take the chance that I might not get my protein goals hit some days. I do drink at least 8-12oz milk daily, so I think I’m getting pretty close with that -

Holy cow you guys have been busy! So I weighed in this morning and I lost a whole 0.2 pounds over the weekend Still, it put me at exactly 3 pounds for the week and I’ve never had a 3 pound week since week 2 so I’ll take it. Fighting a bit of constipation and fluid retention so I know there’s still progress to be made. It was a weird day and I’m attributing most of it to a lack of sleep last night. Woke up to my alarm at 6am hungry (which has never happened before) but I still didn’t have any “food” til 10 am. Even though I battled the hungries today, I had a full 11 hr shift and couldn’t risk making myself sick due to trying to eat in the morning. I literally watched the clock all day for when I could eat next. I ate at 10 am (7oz milk and 5 almonds) then again at 1pm (leftover steak bites-2 ounces weighed- and 1/4 cup cottage cheese) then I ate AGAIN at 4:30 (7oz more milk) then had a Pilates class after work and friggin ate again at 9pm (1 ounce Brie and 5 baby shrimp). Just logged my food and I consumed almost 800 calories today, which is a record post-surgery. I have this dread feeling in the pit of my stomach that I’m going to climb on the scale and I will have gained 3 pounds. Don’t think I can face the scale for a few more days, but I also wanted to share the bad day I’d had. Gonna try to hit bed very soon because that alarm is going off again at 6am and I don’t think I can stand 2 hungry days in a row. I did drink lots of water and right now I’m finishing up a bottle of water which will put me just over 84 oz for the day. -

So how is everyone doing this weekend? So far I’ve done a fair bit of gardening work, went to support group, visited a friend in the hospital, done 2 Pilates classes, and have started some prep work for my spare bedroom remodel. Lol, can’t wait for tomorrow so I can go to work and “rest” -
Not gonna lie.... I’ve already blown #7. Got up early to finish my gardening that the rain interrupted yesterday, about to head off to Pilates, then it’s start doing the prep work for painting my guest bedroom. Maybe one day this month I can find a do nothing day and sub it out

So I’m definitely thinking it needs to be a female type of name. I’m leaning toward “Myrtle” because it’s kinda fun and funky and the meaning of it is “victory” And most importantly, I don’t know anyone in rl named Myrtle

Lol, I was about to comment on that as well.

Whew! Finally finished work shift #4 of the week from hell and it took many deep breaths to get through it. lol, I’m gonna be the first to admit today that I’m going to give baking cookies a hard pass. Nope nope nope nope nope...... 🤣🤣🤣

Possible. Who knows what exactly happens to our hormonal balance when such a thing happens. I had to get mine done when my 21yo daughter was born. I’d had multiple miscarriages and her and her brother were high-risk pregnancies. My OB told me after she was born healthy that he so strongly recommended tubal ligation for my survival that he would refuse to be my doc if I got pregnant again. Soooo it’s been almost 22 years since that also and I can remember suffering a lot of depression. Hard to know if it was mild PPD, the realization I’d never have another baby again, or hormonal shifts from the procedure. Guess I’ll never know but that’s also something that’s really really far back and I’m glad it’s done with. -
This is how I look at it. This is this thing that all of us are doing that the vast majority of our family and friends can’t go through no matter how supportive they are. However here, we are a group bonded by mutual experience and support and it does make the activities easier and more fun.

Yeah after being on chemo for a full year at the age of 40, then needing a hysterectomy at the age of 45, monthly fluctuations are way back in my rear-view mirror. Sucks, because I started gaining even more weight early because of the early induced menopause. On the upside, I’ve already been through that so now I don’t have to deal with all of the weight gain that comes from pre and peri- menopause post surgery. Lol, I’ve already been through all of that hot mess. 🤣🤣 -

lol. These are all great ideas. Hahaha, what I really want to call her now is “temperamental bi**h” but you can’t use that term unless you really know the person you’re talking to So my quest for a PG-rated name continues...

Lol, I’ve yet to hit a 3 pound/week loss since day 13. 🤣🤣🤣🤣 At the most, I had a 2.6 pound week. Fingers crossed this week gets me 1 more pound lost so I can finally say I dropped 3 in a week Edit to add: in the past I would always get extremely frustrated and beat my fists against the wall in starting a new diet/weight loss plan/exercise program because it would take me WEEKS to see any kind of loss or progress whereas other people were dropping pounds with ease. My personal progress wouldn’t start anywhere til about week 6-8 historically. Then I had my fabulous first 13 days post-surgery where I dropped 23 pounds then.....wham!... hit a solid brick wall. Lost 1.8 pounds in the next 21 days. Talk about depressing. Now that I’ve just rounded the corner from week 8, I’m having progress again. Kinda in the exact same spot in a new plan. Makes me hopeful that maybe I’ve broken through some kind of steel-plated barrier that my body has set in place. Fingers crossed I’ve broken through. The next 2 weeks will show me either way
