    💜AUGUST 2019 CHALLENGE💜

Yeah that was one of the things (besides salad) that I missed the most. About 4-6 weeks PO, I had my first cup (actually it was half milk , half coffee) but it was divine
  2. What the......???? That’s CRAZY
  3. Lol. Yeah I was basically meaning as an average for August. Should’ve said goal for August is to ditch 8 pounds. 🤣🤣 Yeah, I’m still too soon out from surgery to be purist or to even think about going >18 hrs fasting. Besides, even though the pounds come off slower than I’d like, I’m still doing great considering my BMI started just below 40% on surgery day (exactly 6 months ago as of today) and I had VGS. I mean, I’ve dropped 72 pounds since February 6th. That being said, I’ve come off of a couple of sluggish months and the blame can be squarely placed on me with eating later/earlier, snacking more between meals, and letting wine back into my routine 2-3 times weekly. Also, not being able to work out as much didn’t help. Those things have to stop and going back to more of a structured routine is what works best for me.

    💜AUGUST 2019 CHALLENGE💜

Good morning all you lovely peeps! Just finished my morning coffee and will be moving on towards a center and balance class (Pilates) soon. Have some work training that needs to be done, but I’m also blocking about an hour or two to go through my closet again and see if/what needs to be culled out. As I’m still in my losing phase, I try to do this about once monthly and today is my 6 month surgiversary so it seems like the perfect day to do it.

Six months post-op+ : The Sophomores Thread

Okay so as of tomorrow I’m officially a sophomore. Wow, it’s been an interesting 6 months
  6. Love KBBQ. Hubs made an interesting sauce out of miso, soy and peanut butter that went great with the meat and instead of rice, I always have about 4-5 different types of kimchi. In fact, I now have leftover kimchi which is great with cottage cheese.

    💜AUGUST 2019 CHALLENGE💜

Wow. So very sorry to hear how rough your work schedule has been PO. I was lucky— I was able to take 2 weeks off on disability because my job is 100% standing, walking, moving, etc and the shifts are typically 10-12 hrs (at least officially and we all work at least a half hour if not more unpaid each shift). Anyway, because of all of the above, my Dr sent in the proper documentation that there was no way I could come in until 2 weeks post op. Why is it health care providers typically have some of the unhealthiest working conditions? The reason we pull our “hell weekends” is so we only have to work every 4th instead of every other weekend. Sometimes I wonder if its really worth it. At least now I’m pulling those shifts with 75 pounds less on my body. If I had to strap on 75 pounds and work a 12hr shift tomorrow, it might legit put me in the ER. To think I was doing that 6 months ago makes me so thankful I had surgery in February. Okay so at 12 days PO, you’re heading for some easier times. Honestly you’ve been through the worst of it, so hang in there!
  8. Just broke my fast 11:30am current time. I had leftovers from last night. 2oz flank steak, 1/2 cup cauliflower mashed potatoes with 1/8 cup shredded cheese. and 1/2 cup salad mix. Ate every single bite. Decided to eat half the meat and all of the salad first because I didn’t want the mash to slide right on through. 339 calories and 25gm protein. Feeling fairly full, but since it’s the first meal of the day that’s not unusual. Will have a snack of 1 cup cottage cheese with kimchi mid-afternoon (195 cal and another 27 gm proten) and dinner is going to be rotisserie chicken with 3/4-1 cup bacon and blue salad mix (another 23gm protein and 290 cal) Totals for the day are projected at 72gm protein and 824 calories. All in my 7-8 hr eating window. Oh yeah, under 30gm carbs also.
  9. Thanks! I don’t feel like I’m to the point where I can go totally purist as I’m just as of tomorrow 6 months PO. I do use fairlife milk only because of the increased protein content. Sadly any kind of protein shake like premier makes me sick to my stomach. Pretty sure it’s the artificial sweetener, as I’ve always had nausea/headaches with them. I’ve never in my life been able to tolerate anything except very tiny bits of stevia as a sugar substitute. When I start to actually IF “properly” I’ll be more of a purist, but I love learning bits and pieces along the way before I actually arrive there. My goal for this month is to drop 2 pounds weekly. I feel as if I do best on a daily 16:8 or 18:6. As long as my milk in my morning coffee doesn’t count as breaking my fast, this is what I plan on doing every day this month. As of right now if I try to go farther than 18:6 I can’t get my protein in daily but it’s okay.... I don’t need to be any more aggressive atm.

    OOTD

Had a very bad experience as a child riding for the first time. Basically my parents and whoever was in charge were at fault because as a frigging 7 year old I was put on a stallion with a bad attitude right after it had rained a ton the few days before. As the oldest of us 3 kids I wasn’t supervised and the horse took off on me, ran through the woods and threw me off, and it scared me silly. I’m 50 and I’ve been petrified of horses ever since but I would love to try to conquer that fear. Especially since I now could physically ride at the size I am.

    February 2019 weight loss buds

Anna.... don’t we all have problem areas though? Lol, I’d literally think about selling off one of my children for your legs, but I’ve always had a very “skinny” waist for my size—whatever my actual size was, my waist is ALWAYS 12-14 inches smaller than my hips. Don’t even get me started on my thighs.... look up the definition of “thunder thighs” in any reference and you’ll probably see mine pictured. 🤣🤣 So those of us women with fabulous legs would wish for less abdominal rolls. Those of us with a small waist wonder what it would be like to look good in shorts or mini-skirts. Hell, I’m just gonna start saving for lipo today and screw it if I get down to goal weight and still have these “fat” legs. Lol, I’ll buy what Mother Nature has denied me. *cue maniacal laughter*
  12. Okay so quick IF question. I typically have 1 ounce plain milk in my morning coffee. No sweetener. Just milk and coffee. Does the milk count as me breaking my fast, or can I still consider myself in a fasting state?

    💜AUGUST 2019 CHALLENGE💜

Lol, I’m FNALLY able to be back after hell weekend (worked 13’s both Saturday and Sunday. I have to work every 4th weekend and it’s brutal. Basically you go into survivor mode for 3 days because you’re actually working more hours than you’re off. Okay, so since today is my ONLY day off, I just can’t dismiss social media today. Also don’t wanna take a rest day. 🤣🤣 I’m off for a haircut this morning and I’m still in the active phase of losing hair. Last spring I decided I was going to grow my hair out so I’m stubbornly refusing to cut it short. Hopefully by the next time I’m needing a trim I’ll be past the massive hair losing stage of this Also have 2 Pilates classes scheduled this afternoon and they’re both intermediate level. When I injured myself in early July I had to slow down a lot so it’s a good feeling to know I’m going to be pushing myself again.

Okay so does picking up a book about IF count as an inspiring read? If so, then yes! About ready to head to the Pilates studio again (that makes 5 classes so far this week). Gonna get that strength training in

    💜AUGUST 2019 CHALLENGE💜

Hey guys. Cardio is about to happen. Heading off to a suspend class in Pilates and it’s definitely fast-paced. Lol, my Brad Pitt disclaimer: I honestly had zero idea who he was at the time. It was 1991 and there wasn’t an internet then. 🤣🤣 Besides, I was young and fit and trim back in those days (oh to be 23 and weigh 128 pounds and be a size 6 again...) Oh well, the reality is that today I’m 50 and will never be that young or cute again, but I’m a helluva lot wiser.

    Post sleeve feelings

Hey guys. All of y’all that have just had surgery in the last 7-10 days, congrats! But seriously.... do NOT rush purées. Stay on liquids as long as you can. I know it sucks. You’ve been on a liquid diet since a few days before surgery and the need to chew on something is overwhelming. For many of you, the thought of yet another sweet drink makes you want to throw your head back and scream. I get it. Been there, done that. The reality though is you’re going to lose soooooooo much weight in these first few weeks and then it will slam to a halt fast. You don’t want to slow that down by rushing purées and semi-solids.

    Time to eat

Oh yeah, I’ll get some chest pains. It doesn’t come without a cost, but there’s literally no other options some days. When I do this, I have to not drink any fluids for about 90 minutes after or else the chest pains trigger again. It’s not how I choose to eat when there’s an option. But it can be done

    "I think you're overdoing it"

Yes! I tell people “for the first time in a VERY long time my body is finally doing what it should have been doing all along —what everyone else with a normal metabolisms body does— by mobilizing stored fat for fuel. As long as I get in adequate protein and take my supplements (which I do) I could do this until every single ounce of excess fat is gone and be completely healthy”. People really don’t know how to respond to that. For people who’ve never had insulin resistance and/or metabolic syndrome, it’s a complete novel thought that your body would not use stored fat. I guess that’s where the myth that fat people always eat and never work out myth came from. 10 years ago when I was 270 pounds, I started running. I lost some weight along the way (got all the way down into the 230’s and it took me 8 months hard diet and exercise) I was running 3-5 miles 3-4 times weekly and everyone kept telling me “good job”. I finally had to stop because of some back and foot injuries probably not helped by 75 pounds excess weight. It’s so aggravating that there are 2 standards: if you’re still overweight, you’re encouraged to exercise more. Lose down close to goal and everyone wants to be a critic.

    Food Before and After Photos

So here is from my trip a couple weeks ago to NOLA. Can’t go to NOLA without having a beignet, right? And I didn’t even eat all of it. Hubs grabbed the one I was eating on after I announced I was stuffed and was eating it as I took this shot. 🤣🤣
