Interesting discussions. Okay, so I’ve been a big chicken to get on the scale since I hit GW. I know myself too well: if I were to have any kind of gain, the sky is falling, I’ve “failed” at WLS, I’m doomed to be able to never go >1200 cals per day, etc... In short, I needed a little bit of time and perspective to get a grip on the fact that I did indeed get to GW. so since then (12 days ago) I’ve eaten on plan, with the exception of 3 days and I was horrible those 3 days. As in 3-4 cocktails, beer chili, nachos and chocolate cake bad. Those days were a birthday, football watch party, and hubs getting a huge contract signed “celebration” days Each time after the 3 days in question, I followed them with 16:8 TRE, and meticulously logging and keeping it to

Honestly? Make sure you stay hydrated with water, Powerade zero, milk, etc. Of course keep trying to get in protein, but if that doesn’t happen for a few days you’ll be okay. In week 2 I had an 800 calorie WEEK. Was so worried I emailed my NUT about it 3 times and she reassured me that’s completely normal and that our bodies can survive a few days without protein, but that staying hydrated was absolutely essential.

Looks nice. Can’t wait to see what you pick up shopping. Ooh I’m so excited. I ordered a pair of flannel lined jeans online and I went out on a limb and ordered size 8s. Fingers crossed they fit when I get them

You’re awesome Anna! And yes, I post a lot. Mostly I post here because this is a big part of my support system. If I log in daily then I’m thinking about my program daily and I’m holding myself accountable. I’ve always been quite verbose and WLS and healthy lifestyle are topics near and dear to me. I realize that putting myself on a site like this or on any kind of internet site gives away some privacy, but I’m okay with that as well. If anything I’ve gone through helps anybody, I’m totally fine in sharing. IMO, this is all give and take and you guys all have helped me more than you can know and if I’ve been able to contribute to anybody else’s mental health half as much as you’ve helped me then I’m happy.
  10. Funny how each of us approaches this differently. It’s also a shame that we have to have this conversation. Think about it— if someone were to need surgery to have an appendectomy, a hysterectomy or have a tumor removed or have any other physical condition corrected there wouldn’t be this level of discussion. But WLS is still so judged. No matter where people are— whether they’ve never struggled with obesity or have struggled their entire lives, they will be all over the spectrum from extremely positive to negative. I’m generally a pretty open person, but sharing this is difficult. I too find myself more able to share with complete strangers than with people I’ve known. Maybe bc I don’t have anything invested in the strangers. I’m also a natural empath and I feel like I can read most people when they comment or ask. If one of my patients comments and I can sense that they genuinely care and are concerned (I am after all a cancer survivor and a lot of people know that) then I tell them briefly about the WLS and that I’m “okay” and “not sick again” If I feel as if the person commenting doesn’t deserve the info, then I tell them I’m on a medically supervised diet and exercise regimen. When the inevitable “oh, so you’re doing keto?” comment follows, I nod and tell them “yes” because I don’t eat carbs anyway due to the restriction so I figure that’s as accurate as I need to be. There are some patients I have who are MO and weirdly enough, many of them don’t ask. Maybe they already know, but I think mostly they understand the burden of MO and know better than to ask or comment. Almost every single of my close friends are MO, and they all knew. Sadly most of them are avoiding my right now, but that’s the topic of another thread and I’m working my way through that

    The Maintenance Thread

So I’ve been thinking about all of this and I’m wondering where my body will choose to settle in. When I set my GW at 155, it was primarily bc for my height that put me just at the upper edge of normal BMI. I also thought that there was no way in hell I would actually get to this weight bc I knew it would mean losing >80-90% of my excess fat and since I was choosing sleeve, I knew that was going to be extremely difficult. Well here I am at this weight and I have no plans to get on the scale this week bc I’m trying not to focus on the number as much as my body. Besides, if I have any kind of gain I don’t want to freak out over it. My plan now is to focus on increasing carbs and calories and if I see a gain it will be counterproductive. If I’m very honest with myself (and I MUST be for this to work long-term) I’m hoping for and expecting another 5-10 pound weight loss over the next 2-3 months bc if I actually gain or don’t continue to lose weight at

Okay so it’s been a busy morning and I’m literally standing here waiting for the water in the shower to heat up and that’s ALL the time I have today before work. I want you guys to know that this thread is absolutely essential to me right now and I’m busy reading and digesting all the wonderful insights and info. So I’ll try to post after midnight my time if I’m still coherent enough after work later. Hope everyone had a fab Thursday

Thanks for saying this bc I definitely didn’t feel tiny today. Yeah the jacket is yet another consignment store find. I get 15% off on my bday month, so I’m definitely hitting it again before the month ends

This! The main reason I’m going to save for face/neck plastics before I get others And yeah, the ET butt I have going on right now definitely needs to be addressed, but the face is definitely more visible than my nekid butt

I’m thinking about it. There’s another clinic actually closer to me that I didn’t use bc they weren’t on my insurance. My goal between now and the end of the month is to try my hardest to find a local group

Nothing except for TRE The main reason I do TRE is because even now it’s tough to get in Water if I start eating before noon. From when I wake til noon, I drink 2/3 of my water for the day bc once that first meal hits, I can’t hold both. As I continued TRE, the structure of it provided me with emotional support. It really empowers me to make better choices when I have a set eating window For now I’m going to stick with the TRE only and we will see what the next few weeks bring

Here is one example of the saggy neck and wrinkles where I never had them before. I’ll be honest though and say that even if I knew how much older in the face this would make me look, I’d still do it 100/100 times. So I had to endure breast cancer and I got new boobs out of it 10 years ago. This time I’ll endure this and get a facelift out of it. I’ve actually started working on a budget and pricing different procedures. I’m more than likely going towards an S-lift, but won’t know for sure until I have a consult. Which will still be after the first of the year. I want to make absolutely for sure that I’m well and good out of my honeymoon period and that weight loss is stopped before making any decisions. Even if I lost just another 10-15 pounds it could make a huge difference. Besides, it will give me more time to save up. Gaby, I’m really keeping my fingers crossed that all goes well with your endoscopy. Please keep us posted. Emzbe, I was fine until about a month ago, and now I’m definitely needing laxative help. Not sure why my bowels have waited til now to go into lockdown mode, but it’s a daily struggle. I need to get more aggressive in treating it, because I’ve noticed that when things are super backed up I can barely eat more than 1/2 cup food w/o feeling ill, but then I’m hungry again 3-4 hours later and it’s frustrating bc I feel as if it’s throwing me off of my TRE regimen.
