Yeah, strength training will only help so much as you can re-fill the skin with muscle. Unless you can create some muscle in the equivalent volume of your lost fat, you will most likely have flappiness up in there. P.S. Mine are pretty flappy, but mostly only noticeable when I'm wearing short shorts that squeeze everything out, lol.

Sleeve is the BEST decision ever! Wish I had done this sooner.

I think this is something that isn't said alot on here because of the fear of making others feel bad. I mean I get how it would be defeating to read about other's non-issue recovery/experiences when one is really struggling. With that said, I theorize there are actually quite a lot of people out there who actually did experience this process as "the easy way out" and did not struggle at all. I just basically said this in another thread: While it IS very nice/kind to keep the feelings of others in mind when posting stuff, it is also totally okay to say eff YEAH to celebrate your own successes, whether it came easy or not. The level of difficulty one goes through to get to goal doesn't diminish nor increase the value of said goal. A goal is a goal is a goal. Yay, EVERYONE! -
Kitchen supplies for early post-op

Those Yeti cups look cute. Here is the one I've been using every day for the past 2 years and its more than half the price (not as cute, but still). Keeps hot things hot and cold things cold. I take it everywhere I go. The rubber gasket is still going strong despite getting pulled out and washed every day, which is pretty impressive. Plus the handle is super handy to hook on the the inside of my purse, car door cubbies, patio chair arm rests, etc...lol -

Im positive it was all for you. Please tell me you wore a bikini with a white t-shirt over it and shook the water out of your hair in slow motion. -
No hunger vs hunger...When did this change for you?
ms.sss replied to Tim C's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I want to say I started getting legitimately hungry sometime into maintenance...like 7,8,9 months post op? But like the other's said above, its not a ravenous-type of hunger like it was pre-op. Its alot more polite and respectful, lol. So NOT like a toddler. More like a well-mannered english nanny. Oh, and its very patient...it can wait until I get around to it...so like an sweeter, older, well-mannered-english nanny....LOLOLOLzzzz I still have days here and there when I just don't feel like eating, or I forget to eat. It comes and goes. I am 2.5 years post-op. -

Going diving as a much smaller person is the last remaining item on my weight-loss bucket list!!!! First we had vacays in inappropriate diving destinations, then I had plastics, then effing covid...so the last time I went diving was in summer 2018. And I had to pack on 20 lbs of weights (of which I was always slightly embarrassed of because everyone else was at like 10lbs or less...plus its frickin' heavy walking around...ugh). I am over more than 1/2 the weight/size of I used to be (not to mention a marked increase in muscle mass percentage) so I have no idea what my new weight requirements will be...but am thoroughly excited to find out....oh and equally excited to not have to wear a men's XL wetsuit!!! Crossing my fingers that it will happen by end of this year. 🤞🏼🤞🏼🤞🏼🤞🏼 P.S. where did you go?? (feel free to answer or not answer, I understand if its a privacy thing ) -
Ah, I knew it was too good to be true. We all can't be friends now. I HATE OLIVES. Even just the smell of them! (Although I suppose we could still be friends if I just walked 2km away when you guys eat them, lolololzzzz)

Food Scale. Insulated water bottle/thermos. AND a Timer (not exactly a "kitchen" item, as I used my watch...but this was probably the single most used thing I used the first 3 months...as reminder to take my meds, or drink or eat, and to time my bites while I was eating). Good Luck! ❤️ -
Must Haves For Surgery Day
ms.sss replied to Incredibleshrinkiningkiley's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
+1 on the dry mouth spray. Also: a small pillow to hug against your abdomen on the ride home from hospital (you will feel every single bump on the road!) Good Luck! ❤️ -
Congratulations!! Transition from weight loss mode to maintenance can be a bit of a trial and error. From what I read around here, everyone pretty much figures it out more or less within a few months...and no one (i think) has inadvertently shrunk themselves into low-weighted danger zones in the process. Congrats again!! Yay you! P.S. Nuts, nut butters, full-fat everything, avocados, olive oil, and yep, chicharron were my friends during those early months of maintenance (low volume, high calories, relatively nutritious). Acutally they are still my friends to this day. P.P.S. That's very thoughtful of you to think about your wife's feelings as you celebrate low-key-ly. At the same time, you did just achieve something awesome, so don't feel too bad about feeling good ❤️ Whooo-hooo 🎉

Ah, girl after my own heart!!!! I am a serious salt-a-holic as well, and, like you, was encouraged to take in more sodium by my doc due to low blood pressure. No complaints from me! I never thought of mixing up salt with vanilla Beans. -
Ugh. I hate you all with your fabulous weather and lounging pics. I'm CRANKY. P.S. Sorry for saying I hate you, I don't, really.

You don't know how amazing your pic looks to me right now. Especially since this was what I woke up to this morning. I mean, WT actual F. Ugh.

Good point. I am much shorter, at 5'2", and a 39 lbs weight loss was a few sizes down down in my case. -
Pantry clean out to prepare for surgery

From reading your last couple posts, I get the feeling that you have already resigned yourself to take a baking sabbatical, and if that's what is best for you right now, it's all good. However, I can't resist, and I will though leave you with my FAVOURITE COOKIE RECIPE OF ALL TIME, FOREVER and EVER. No regular flour and easily adapted to use sugar substitute (swerve), I've made both sugar and sugar-free many times and the fam can't tell the difference. #yum Of course, I realize not everyone loves the taste of almonds/amaretto/marzipan as much as I do, so it may not crank your engine, but just thought I'd share, LOL #superyum Good luck with everything! ❤️ Dessert : Chewy Amaretti Cookies.pdf Here's a pic of when I last made them: -

It's been a while since I did an inventory of my NSV's. I'm 2.5 years post op, but I can still appreciate all the little things: Not only fitting into regular-width tall boots, but wearing jeans with knee-high woollen socks over them while wearing said boots AND still have room to spare. I used to hate it whenever Mr. tried to pick me up - as in lift up off the ground, not hit on at the bar! - (dude, I'm 235 lbs, you will embarrass both you AND me in your attempts)...now I find any excuse for him to do it...including jumping onto him at random moments. Sharing (and fitting into) the often fought-over arm chair in the house with the Kid at the same time quite comfortably. Feeling 110% confident in walking around buck naked (in front of Mr. lol). No more quick dashes to my closet after showers (i do a slow catwalk now...lol), no more towels or sheets or strategically placed hands to cover myself. The lights are ON alot during sexy-times hahahahahhaha. Seemingly endless amounts of energy, a perpetually good mood, and an overall attitude of "Sure, let's do it" (whatever it may be)....vs. being tired all the time, cranky and annoyed alot, and saying NO to most things. oh, and ...CLOTHES. -
Weight loss in the first 2 months
ms.sss replied to NJTeacher2772's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
The first two months were exceptions...it all really averages out in the end! From months 3-7, my monthly average loss was ~11lbs (lost from a high of 13lb/month to a low of 9lbs/month, depending on the month) I get how we sometimes fixate on the speed of loss (I mean, there IS a bit of thrill in getting closer to goal, I'm not denying that), but really, for those that stay on their respective plans, we all end up at the same place eventually. Does it really matter if it takes 6 months or 2 years? Its a drop in the bucket in the grand scheme of things. Good Luck! ❤️, sounds like you'll do great. -
Pantry clean out to prepare for surgery
ms.sss replied to lizonaplane's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Oh, I stress bake too (and happy bake, and boredom bake)...and yeah, I give the majority of it away. Delivering goodies to friends and family is actually one of the highlights of my week. But...I get if having the temptation is just not worth you dealing with. Do stuff that makes things easier, and not harder, I like to say. P.S. I'm assuming you are just talking about the perishable supplies being given away? Most baking ingredients have a relatively long-ish shelf life. They could probably keep until you are done with weight loss phase? Or you could have one last big bake to use it all up in one go! Hope you figure out (and be at peace with) what is best for you ❤️ -
Pantry clean out to prepare for surgery
ms.sss replied to lizonaplane's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
There are 4 of us in our house, and given that I was the only one who was having surgery, I left the pantry alone. Having "off-plan" food in the house didn't bother me so it was ok, I was neither happy nor sad about it. I still cooked everyone's meals and basically just watched them eat it, ha. (tasting while cooking was a bit of a challenge though...but i digress...) In the end, if it will help you to not have it around (and ideally not hurt anyone else), AND it is doable to do so, then I fully support tossing it all. Good Luck! ❤️
