  1. Anybody else find that when you are out and about, that u forget to eat??? Came home about an hour ago from a whole day of errands (and some pampering, lol) and realized i was starving. 1/4 of a chicken shawarma in a pita plus an espresso martini beforehand (not shown): 260 calories. Ate it all!

  5. I also used protein powders with water added (bonus being u can just add more water to make it less sweet/thick…though i suppose u could do that with the ready made ones as well…) i tried out a whole bunch of them and finally settled on Isopure’s dutch chocolate flavoured powder. It was by far the least sweet (with the exception of the unflavoured of course) that I tried. I added a tsp of decaf instant coffee crystals, 2 tsps of Benefibre, a bunch of ice and water. Ta-da!

Soooo back when I was bigger I would have NEVER worn a dress like this cuz I felt it did nothing for my shape other than advertise me as a circus tent of sorts. I usually wear more fitted clothes since getting smaller, cuz, well, i can, and I like to show off my bod, lol. But i am super pleased to be able to wear this today and not feel like a tent, ha! P.S. yes, its hard to see in this pic due to lightning and my dirty mirror, but trust me, its super-cute 😉

  9. My first post-op AI vacay was at around 10 months post op (I was already in maintenance though). I did eat too much (or too fast?) the first day and did barf a couple times as a result, and that was enough to keep me vigilant for the rest of the trip. I ate just veggies and protein 90% of the time. My carbs/sugars came from the crazy delicious cookies at the coffee bar, and single bites (for taste, lol) of other’s desserts, and mangoes the size of my head (yum!) I did still track all my food intake, but it was all guessing so…highly inaccurate….i’ll see if i can pull up my food logs from that time…? Didn’t have any of the sugary mixed drinks, but did have wine, vodka sodas and tequila shots. Lots of it, i confess. Went to the gym to run on the treadmill for an hour every morning, or joined in the resort’s organized morning road run for 5K (twice i did a 10k with them, the first time ever at that point to ever do that distance, EVER!) I came home basically the same weight as i left. I was 119.8 the morning i left, came back 10 days later at 119.9 Now….compare this to a 2 week NON-AI trip i took a month later, and i came back 5lbs heavier (I didn’t nearly do as much exercise that time around, didn’t track a thing, and i ate bread, lol). But it was all good, i went back to tracking once home, back to running routine and lost that gain in about a week. so i guess the lesson I learned here was that i stay on track when i track my food intake to be aware of my cal counts and make decisions on food accordingly. 3 years post op now, with many vacays under my belt since, im still tracking everything and im still basically the same weight (116.4 this morning)
  10. Oh, and here was dinner tonight (which i had AFTER the cookies, lol). Made loaded nachos for the fam, and i basically just ate toppings (i.e., passed on the chips): Clockwise from top: BBQ beef brisket, tomatoes, queso salsa, sour cream, cole slaw, and seasoned ground beef: 299 calories for the plate as shown. Ate it all.
  11. Yummmmmmmm!!! I call your 8 pumpkin cupcakes and raise you 33 amaretti cookies! Bakers unite! P.S. each one is 105 calories. i ate 2 of ‘em!
  12. ..,and AFTER a pee and/or poop of course! 😂😂😂😂😂
  13. In the beginning i ate (or tried at least) to eat according to volume. I pre-measured everything and ate what I could from that amount using timed bites. If I ate to restriction, then it would be too late as I found that my signals were delayed and I would just be super uncomfortable. As time went on, I was able to gauge when was enough an didn't need to rely on pre-measured volume anymore. It's a learning process. Listen to your body, learn from your past experiences with food and eating and hopefully you will get the hang of it all in no time. P.S. for further clarification, I was pre-measuring for about 5-6 months then the training wheels came off and I became a pro (sort of, lol) Good Luck! ❤️

  16. Okay! I like this reasoning!
  17. “A loss is a loss is a loss”. It doesn’t matter if u lost 5 lbs last week or .05 lbs. So long as its coming off ur golden. ”An inch is an inch is an inch.” If the scale didn’t move last month, if your pants are looser, ur golden. ”Keep doing what works until it doesn’t”. If its been months with no weight nor inch loss, cut ur cals, increase ur activity, speak to a medical professional. ”Everybody is different.”. Try not to compare urself to others and allow it to get you down. Its not worth the anxiety. ”Manage your expectations.” Set realistic goals based on YOUR body type and lifestyle. Expecting to achieve more than what u are willing to do to achieve it is unhelpful (see “Everybody is different” above). ”Eff the people in the peanut gallery.” Everyone and their mother is going to give you advice and comment on what THEY think YOU should do. They don’t matter. YOU do. ”Celebrate all the little things.” Sometimes just the ability to cross ur legs comfortably or get off your BP meds means waaaaay more than 2lbs off the scale. ”Be kind to urself.” You would (presumably) never purposely sh*t on someone, so why would u do that to yourself. ‘Nuff said. Good Luck!! ❤️
  18. From what I can remember, there was nothing I couldn't do on my own (but of course i milked all the help that was offered to me, lol). Walking wiped me out for the first week or so, so I'd suggest getting all the stuff you'd need (groceries, meds, basic living necessities) to last you a few days so you don't have to go out and get them. Edit to add: actually, i just remembered the one thing I couldn't do (or didn't want to do) for a couple weeks was drive. Twisting to get my seat-belt on, or checking my blind spot was a little ouch-inducing).

    Juicing

I eat a sh*t tonne of veggies. Not so much most of the first year post op (not much room after proteins, honestly), with ZERO issues. Fruits once in a while..i generally stick to berries if I do. But i will occasionally have apples, grapes, oranges. Also watermelon, pineapple, mangoes but rarely or in very small amounts cuz the sugars in these do tend to make me dump. I almost never drink any sort of juice though. All the good stuff (i.e., fibre) is taken out! Plus the sugar tends to be more concentrated. Everyone will have a different experience. Best to try in small amounts to see how YOU, yourself will fare. Good Luck! ❤️
  20. Bit the bullet and ate that salad with the high cal dressing that i passed on from yesterday. Added some Feta, anchovies and avocado: 363 calories Ate it all.

    Binge eating

I SEMI-disagree with this statement. You absolutely CAN binge eat if you wanted to, but you will likely bring it all back up (though for some, they can actually keep it down) As others have alluded to above, OP may want to seriously consider some sort of counselling if this is an issue. The surgery only limits your stomach capacity. It doesn’t limit your ability to physically put food in your mouth, or chew, or swallow…. Good Luck! ❤️

    Hydration

In the first few months post surgery i set a timer on my watch to remind me to drink.

    Zero pounds…

Is this all u are consuming each day? Or are you eating/drinking stuff on top of this?

    Fried foods

I have fried foods on the regular and manage just fine (btw, im 3 yrs post op). Plus i think its delicious. There was a period (i.e., during weight loss phase and some months after) that it was just unappetizing…but then again most foods were. I still have my share of “healthy” foods (i do love me some salad) but fried foods - pan fried, deep fried, whatever - are definitely common items in my menu rotations. Everyone will have different tolerances and preferences towards all kinds of food. You won’t know how you will fare until you do. Good Luck! ❤️

    Stagnant weight

Exercise actually has much less impact on weight loss than calorie consumption. There are MANY on here who don’t do a lick of exercise and still lose weight (but of course exercise is still strongly recommend for health and well-being…) Same goes for vitamins. Do you know what your daily average calorie intake is?
