  1. speaking of thighs...while MY thighs look nice while standing up, they dont look the greatest from an aerial view when im laying down cuz my excess butt skin gets flattened and seeps to the sides, which merges into my upper thigh area. here is me channeling my favourite melted barbie meme. (i forced mr. to take me pic...he was mortified lololololzzz)

    Yoga Supplies and Tips Please

i use a diy spray (1 part distilled white vinegar, 3 parts filtered water and and several drops of tue essential oil du jour...currently it's peppermint)...fill up a spray bottle and bring with me and some disposable "dry" wet wipes. i spray (both sides) of mat when done and wipe down. then once a week i soak it in the bathtub with some dawn dishwashing soap and warm water for an hour and dry (first with a towel and then hang). BUT i use my mat 2-3 times a day every day. 80% of the time doing hot yoga so my mat gets pretty sweat soaked. also...this is the first time ive heard of putting a mat in the washing machine!. i looked up the care instructions for the ones i have and none say i should do that? maybe because mine are on the thicker/heavier side?
  3. hi again, the article you quoted is a good resource to share with your medical team. if you are suffering from the same symptoms outlined in said article is *should* be pretty clear that you will need intervention. now you didn't mention frequent vomiting, but i'm going to assume this is an issue as you referenced the article, yes? run, do not walk, to your emergency room if your organs are failing. insurance coverage will be a non-issue as organ failure would be classified under emergent care! seriously, we are talking life or death, man. i get that you are looking for support, but really, what you describe requires PROFESSIONAL MEDICAL support that is waaaaay beyond the scope of these public forums. please take care.
  4. kinda the same here, i guess: therapists can be licensed by going to college and getting an undergraduate diploma, while psychiatrists are university educated getting a degree, plus further post secondary studies and degree(s)...the get the "doctor" designation. main diff in services provided as i see it is that the latter can prescribe meds while the former cannot, everything else seems the same/similar. note aside: i think "college" has a different meaning in Canada vs. the US....in the US, i believe colleges are just as prestigious/difficult to get into as universities, yes? up here, "colleges" are more like a hands-on/trade type institutions of learning, that have lower requirements for acceptance. the instructors at colleges have less education backgrounds than the professors at universities. its (much, much) cheaper to go to college here than university and the diplomas granted take less time to achieve than the degrees granted at universities. is the education "better" at universities? honestly, i dunno...but it looks better on resumes. 🤷🏻‍♀️
  5. hmmm...maybe because CAMH is high demand/high level cases? 🤷🏻‍♀️ back in 2016 i was able to get an appt with one at Markham-Stouffville hosptial within 1 week of refferal. last year, my daughter was able to get an appt with Mackenzie Health (in Richmond Hill) within a month...and this location is probably the CAMH equivalent in york region (my words, not anyone elses! lol) neither of us would i consider to be one of the "most severe cases of mental health" (but we did each get a referral from our family doc). anyway, maybe check it out...IF YOU WANT TO...i don't want to come off as pressuring you to do something you don't really want to do! whatever you decide to do (or even if you don't do anything at all), hope you find a way to get some peace.
  6. sushi takeout for a super late lunch (actually this first meal of day...got distracted by errands and realized we were hungry at like 3pm...oopsies (1) the takeout box - so pretty, right? (2) my before and after (3) calorie count: 261 cals for all of it, ate almost all of it!...also had an espresso martini beforehand (146 cals) and almost ½ a chocolate dip donut afterwards (95 cals)...so approx 502 calories for what i just ate/drank.
  7. i NEED to know what exactly the eggs are sitting atop of???? some sort of mille-feuille concoction?? or a layered potato??? either way: YUMMER!!!

    Liver shrinking diet pre -op?

to this question: i was told to have 3 protein shakes a day for two weeks (and that was all). that said, i HATED the protein shakes they told me to drink (too sweet, omg), so i maybe had 2 shakes a day for the first maybe 8 days, then went down to 1 shake a day until the end. (btw, after surgery, i found a less sweet protein shake, thank goodness).
  9. my parents did, but they were not prepared to face off with my super-master level of stubbornness: they would tell me i could not leave the table unless i finished the food on my plate, but i would stay at that effing table for HOURS, not eating...even falling asleep a few times, i remember, just refusing to eat whatever was on that effing plate. after a while (months? years?) instead of making me sit at the table, they would make me do chores as a punishment instead. whatever. i did the chores. better than eating those disgusting brussel sprouts (spoiler alert: i love brussel sprouts now, lol), but i make them better than my parents did, so...) fast forward to today, and i always remind my Kid that she doesn't have to finish the food in front of her if she is done. if you don't want to eat, you don't have to eat, man.
  10. it was a special for a while, but it was a hit with the masses, so they put it on the regular menu, ha!
  11. hiya ❤️ can i give you a tip? i'm in ontario and we can get psychiatric appointments covered by provincial health insurance (NOT psychotherapist though...there is a difference: psychiatrists are certified doctors, psychotTHERAPISTS are not), so if you go to your family doctor and request to get referred to a psychiatrist, and are approved, you will not have to pay anything out of pocket. good luck!

Report Your WINS ..What is your today's win??🥇

so i would normally buy up all the Halloween candy that will be on sale tomorrow, but this year i'm probably gonna go easy on the clearance section given my recent aversion to eating.... kinda a win, right?
  14. speaking of chicken, ha! this was lunch today, that i picked up after yoga classes (pro tip: don't buy take out on your way home from exercise class because it will likely be deep fried stuff like this omg). 1/3 KFC classic chicken sandwich, 1 KFC chicken tender, and 2 and a little bit of KFC onion rings (the cute little one was my favourite, lol) with a little bit of ketchup & bbq sauce: 462 calories for all of it. ate the tender and the onion rings, but got tired after one bite of the partial sandwich and gave up...so probably 275 calories for what i actually ate (mr. already ate the leftovers).
  15. i haven't noticed, but then again, i never really keep a look out for it? maybe i should....

Oh hey!!! Hi, how are ya?

maybe try body weight exercises instead? instead of using additional weights? i.e, yoga, Pilates, calisthenics. you can build muscle mass, but more slowly and less bulk.
  17. based on your height and weight, your BMI is 35.2. if you have 2 comorbities, you would qualify for WLS in Ontario. what province do you reside in?
  18. um, if your doctors determined this, why are you not admitted to hospital??????

    Affordable plastics

i had arm lift, breast lift and tummy tuck in Canada, and paid roughly 15K CAD for all three (back in 2019); that's about 11K in today's US dollars. Mind you, i did get the panniculectomy portion of the tummy tuck covered by provincial insurance which i believe saved me about 6K CAD.

i had to google flare. like a reddit flair?
  22. at 1 month post op, i was cleared for everything. i didn't eat everything (by choice) but still. by 7 months post op (i.e., goal) i eating ALMOST everything...i didn't eat rice, bread, nor pasta/noodles (again by choice) i was also limiting sugar as i was/am a dumper. i would not have alot of it (if at all) at one time or on an empty stomach. like maybe one bite of cake, 2-3 licks of ice cream, etc on rare occasions. by 2 years post i got over my carb-o-phobia and started eating rice, bread, pasta/noodles, yay! still limited sugar though. today - i hit my 6-yr wls anniversary this week! - i still can/will eat/drink everything. i can eat more in volume now that i could at year 2, but still less than those around me. i can also now have maybe up to 1/2 a slice of cake without ill effects (but only if my stomach is not empty). i probably eat out 4-5 times a week, and order take out another 4-5 times a week. i used to cook alot more before, but the past couple years me and Mr. have been empty nesting, and its actually really hard and inefficient to cook for just two people! not counting the past month* or so, i average about 2300 cals a day for the past year (full disclosure: i exercise alot). so long story short, you will be able to enjoy food at your own discretion. how much of it will be up to you.
  23. was thinking the same thing....? (just one 1 G&T is like 120 cals, and just one beer is at least 200 cals...). alcohol in and of itself will not stop you from losing weight, but too many calories (in the form of alcohol or whatever else) definitely will. further, are you tracking your actual food/beverage intake to conclude 1200 cals a day, or eyeballing it? lastly, my NUT wanted me at 1500 cals by 3 months, so i guess it depends on who you ask if that is alot of cals or not at your stage. BUT, despite this recommendation , i personally was NO WHERE near 1500 cals at that stage, more like 400 cals honestly (which is on the lower end of average, but still).
  24. ok...so i've been on here for a few years and have read the statement "i'm gaining weight and i don't know why", and an umpteen different variations of that same statement. the answer to this is to (honestly) track your food intake and weight over a period of time (and tracking your exercise habits, sleep habits, menstrual cycles is an added source of info). you will quickly figure out on the data collected where you can tweak things. and yes, I KNOW this is not for everyone. its not easy and it takes a certain level of crazy to keep this up for forever (*raISES hand* ... yep, im crazy). Now, if you are willing to make changes, then yay! if not, that is ok too! like i said, i've been on here for what seems like an eternity, and another thing that need to be addressed is that not everyone gets to their arbitrary goal weight, let alone stays there. often because this goal weight is not realistic to the efforts they are willing to put forward...wanna be 120lbs with 15% body fat? then be prepared to eat lean and exercise hours every day. forever. for most, this lifestyle is just not sustainable. and that is ok! quality of life is more important than a goal weight. if you lost weight then you won already. if you are off your meds and have energy and can move unhindered, then you won already. if you are angst free and living life, then you won already. BUT, if you WANT to lose more weight, get stronger, look better in that bikini, then go for it. start tracking your intake and be aware of how your inputs and outputs affect you, speak to a medical professional to see if there aren't any other issues that may be at play. adjust your diet and activity accordingly. and again, if that is just not your bag, thats ok...you just need to learn to accept your present and be cool with it. peace, people! p.s. and as GT expressed above, use whatever resources you have available to you (if you so desire), including meds!
