What do you eat in a day 3+ years out?

same as above: after weight loss phase, i don't really have a typical day of eating...it varies wildly from day to day. i do still track my calorie intake, but more so just out of habit. i generally average about 1800-2000 calories a day. some days less some days more. i do moderate exercise, and a 5'2" female. also managed to stay below goal weight this entire time with how and what i eat so im def grateful for that. oh, and i'm a little over 4 years out. what i ate today: - french bread with butter - cranberry granola - kimchi dumplings - general tso tofu - french bread with strawberry jam - grilled shrimp - garlic bread with cheese - sour cream & onion chips - almonds - espresso martinis (2) (i don't normally eat this much bread, but i made a couple loaves this morning so...) (also, im a grazer so i ate all this here and there throughout the day)
  2. ...another thing i would suggest is to weigh and measure yourself often (if u can handle it...some can't). you mentioned a couple times in your post that you were surprised at your weight at certain points in your life. by keeping an eye on it, you may be less shocked and even may be able to avoid it altogether by taking whatever measures you decide on. further, if you combine regular weigh ins/body measurement noting with food tracking (and even track activity level, mood, sleep, etc) you may be able to collect some useful data to help troubleshoot your situation....but again, only if its your cup of tea. to lots of folks this level of involvement is not ideal. i can only say that my own penchant of detailed tracking has helped me identify many things specific to me. Good luck! ❤️
  3. bread fresh from the oven. yummm, ate it all with about 1tsp of butter slathered on it: 108 calories, ate it all.

How long to reach goal weight?

started at 235 (5'2" female) lost 100% of "excess weight" (baseline calculated as 135 ideal weight by my surgeon) by 6 months got to MY revised goal weight of by 7 months. lost a bit more after that, gained some back, and nowadays hover around 118-120. i'm 4 years out. in terms of weight loss slowing down: not counting the first 2 months where i saw higher losses, i was pretty consistent during weight loss phase with a loss of about 10 lbs a month until goal. after that it slowed alot down, but i was purposely trying to. YMMV
  5. haha not me. i lost a grand total of 400g (<1 lb) after plastics. BUT the visual difference was quite dramatic (for me, at least).
  6. i chose 120lbs as it was the mid-point for the "normal" BMI weight range for my height (5'2"). no real rhyme nor reason why i decided this way, other than i had no other ideas, ha also, i figured it was doable since i was that weight in my twenties. its worth noting here my surgeon said that he would consider my weight loss a success if i reached 175lbs (or was it 165?, i can't remember) by the time i got to 127, i decided to stop weight loss as i felt i was looking too thin. kept losing weight anyway, got down to 109, then settled into 115-ish for 2 or so years, but for almost the past year ive been consistently closer to 120 (am 4 years post op today). p.s. despite weighing less today than what i did when i decided to stop weight loss, in my opinion, i think i look better now (less gaunt and frail looking).
  7. salad! 302 calories for the bowl.
  8. "lunch" leftover korean short ribs from the fams dinner last night, 3 grape tomatoes and soft boiled egg with furikake (japanese seasoning). 188 calories for the plate. achieved "satisfaction" much earlier than anticipated but will def eat the rest later if someone doesn't get to it first.
  9. speaking of sitting... being able to keep the legs closed while seated without crossing ones legs (i.e., knees together and keeping the "gap" closed) with zero effort is pretty awesome too 💪🏼😂
  10. adorable! but...what do you mean by "it would be great to share Covid"???? lol
  11. omg now i spy an equally cute boxer in the background! too much cuteness. i know im going off on a tangent here from this thread, but here's one of my cuties...could be a long lost brother of yours!!
  12. i think it depends more on the person than the surgery. i had sleeve a little over 4 yrs ago and these days i can get in about 1 cup of food in volume at one sitting (volume matters more to my stomach than weight does)...more if its salad, less if its dense meat or fluffy bread. mind you, just because i can eat 1 cup at a sitting, doesn't mean i do. i prefer to stop eating well before i get full cuz i hate the feeling of being stuffed. further, i graze/have several mini-meals so while i may not eat alot at once, i do end up eating enough for my needs by the time the day is over. At six months post i was probably 1/2 - 1 cup capacity per sitting. which looks about the amount of what you ate in in your scrambled eggs(?) picture. P.S. is that a cutie patootie black kitty sitting on your remote??
  13. i looked up your profile that stated u r 4'10". I have a good friend who i've known since high school who is your height and "normal" weight for her height, and all her life had issues buying clothes. she wears a good amount of children's clothing, but luckily these past couple decades they have adult-looking childrens clothes (at a premium though unfortunately). if she does happen to find some adult size cute stuff width-wise (in like 00, she always has to shorten them. shoes are another problem for her, she has teeny tiny feet!! i don't know if u are a fan on online shopping for clothes, but she also has quite alot of success finding cute stuff from asia, who's sizing runs much, much lower than north American stuff.
  14. slice of sesame loaf and some lebneh (kinda like a thicker greek yogurt seasoned with za'atar and olive oil) we got at the farmers market yesterday. Ate 1/2 the bread and all the lebneh (soo good): 184 calories for what i ate. The pics below also show a couple tbsps of lemon curd (that i had no intention of eating) that the Kid asked me to put on the plate so she could have it with my the bread that i would inevitably have leftovers of (she knows me so well).
  15. im 5 inches shorter than you (and 4 yrs post op) and i would lose weight at 1400 calories a day. at two years post i had stomach volume constraints too (still do actually, but not as tight as it was at 2 yrs post) and, like you, got down to a BMI 20 (at about 1.5 yrs post) it took me a while, but i basically had to get over the mental roadblock of eating higher calorie foods. i physically couldn't put more food in, so i had to make sure that the food i did get in packed more calories per punch. it was hard at first, but then it became easy (too easy! lol). Avocados, olive oil, nuts, nut butters, fatty meats, cheese, butter, full-fat anything, are "good" foods that are high calorie and low volume. Personally i ate ALOT of chicharron (pork rinds) but its not a very nutritious choice. I ate alot of them cuz i was pretty carbophobic back then and they were zero carb and a ridiculous amount of calories for so little (plus a pretty good source of protein AND oh so delicious lol) But is really high in sodium so there's that. But i digress... Anyhoo, today im BMI 22 (well 21.8, but close enough haha) its good you have an appt with a dietitian. they can help you make some eating decisions to increase your cals. Good Luck! ❤️ P.S. personally, i wouldn't eschew the exercise altogether...exercise has much less effect on weight loss than calorie restriction does (unless of course you are doing athlete-level exercise), and it's excellent for body health and well-being. Not to mention an excellent stress reducer, sleep inducer, and all-around energy improver. AND it tones your body and muscles so you look great (if u are into that sort of thing lol)

    Macros…..

hi! im 4 years out too! (50 yrs old, female, 5'2", moderately active and weighed 119.2 this morning) i stopped basing my diet on macros a couple years ago, i mostly rely on calorie monitoring (i still track everything out of habit). Based on my data, i've been averaging about 60g protein a day, of course there are some days i have like 20 and other days when i have 150...but on average its about 60. I haven't noticed any significant relation to weight gain/loss with my protein intake. Nor any relation with fats or carbs for that matter. (carbs do seem to have an affect on my appearance, but that's another story). the only thing that affects my weight is number of calories consumed over time, and to a lesser degree, activity levels. so its been an ongoing tweaking process to balance the two. A couple years ago i was an exercise fiend, and was taking in 2500+ calories. Now i'm a 2-3 day a week casual exerciser and average about 1800. im sure if i didn't reduce my intake when my activity levels went down, i'd be 20-30 lbs heavier than i am today. For those keeping score, i've (so far) maintained below goal weight since i reached it at 7 mnths post op. FULL DISCLOSURE: i am in good health (as my most recent labs can attest), and i have no diagnosed medical issues that would affect my metabolism. @SpartanMaker summed up the science surrounding protein well enough that i dont need to add anything more, but i do want to highlight the point they raised about the fact that the body can only metabolize x amount of protein (the amount varies slightly from person to person), and that any excess protein will be stored for energy (i.e., fat if you dont use it up). So i wonder, did your team give you a scientific or medical reason as to why they object to your protein level intake? Also, did they offer an opinion as to how you would replace those protein calories to stay at 1500 over all? (more fat? more carbs?) While i would not recommend NOT listening to your team, i do advocate the asking of questions to get an understanding of the reasoning behind a recommendation so you can make an informed decision for yourself. Good Luck! ❤️
  17. Happy Birthday to the Kid 🎉🎂🥳🎈🎁
  18. Botanica? i am gluten-FULL, so no, lol. btw: omg that brie. looks amazing. seriously though, i would totally welcome an over-catered catch up invite to ur place, of u are giving them out...and maybe have the pavlova-making friend there too 🙏🏼 (that pavlova is giving me dumping ptsd..but in a very good way 😂)
  19. 3 mins for boneless thighs/legs (5 for breasts) on a trivet on high pressure in an instant pot followed by 12 mins natural release. perfect succulent chicken every single time. (lessen the release time if you want to cook further in a sauce or if u want to broil it for a crispier outside) outside of instant pot i rarely get the cook just right!
  20. went to a farmers market this afternoon and came home with a whole lotta goodies! one of the goodies: Pecan Butter Tarts! ate 1/2 of one: 180 calories. yummmmm 🤤
  21. i always seem to see both the bright AND dark side if things, so here goes. 1) at first i saved alot by not ordering full on meals at restaurants...just ordered an app or shared. then, i saved cuz when i did order a meal, it would last a couple days as leftovers. But now, i find i order a lot more dishes/plates when we go out cuz i wanna taste everything, and force my fam an friends to go to pricier restaurants. 2) also, saved by cooking more meals at home because of the birth of my love for cooking/baking after surgery. BUT the healthier, more interesting, and better quality ingredients are more expensive! 3) +1000 on not having to pay more for high quality larger size bras and underwear. BUT minus 2000 for me now buying sooo much more now that i can fit into regular size stuff. i mean i had like 3 or 4 good bras in rotation before. now i have like 20+...all of which i barely use cuz im braless most of the time. 4) not having to get a dress made for a special/formal occasion. i could never find a cute outfit in my size so often resorted to a dressmaker. now i have an abundance of choice off the rack....BUT now i would buy one off the rack even if i had nowhere to wear it to. Now for stuff i just spend more money on, period: a) regular clothes & shoes. i have probably spent 3x more on clothes since surgery (4 years and counting), than i did in the entire 15 years prior to it. b) vacations/entertainment/fun stuff to do: i go out and do way more now than i did...confidence does that to you , and is costs, man. c) PLASTIC. SURGERY. d) Beauty and medi-spa treatments. maybe age also has a contributing factor to this, but seriously my vanity is high maintenance. i didn't care as much when i was bigger, but now its like monthly appts. e) Reflux meds. Sorry, i am realizing my post is not in the spirit of this thread. i should probably start a sister thread to this one as this one is more uplifting while mine is more of a semi-downer. BUT: i do want to say that despite extra costs of whatever, i would do it all again a million times over. wls was def in the top 5 best decisions i ever made.

    Am I overreacting

+1 sorry. it sucks to be in your situation. people generally suck (and most don't even know it, poor things) im with @catwoman7 about accepting that you've exhausted your attempts at rational reasoning, and at this point your recovery is more important than educating her. your energies are best used elsewhere. sounds like right now your need to have your mom around surpasses your annoyance level. soon, i assume, the tide may turn the other way. until then, hope you can find ways to accept her uninformed stance in some sort of peace. Good Luck!
  23. Pic # 1: what i initially made for myself to eat. Pic # 2: what i made for myself to eat upon realizing that my unattended avocado toast plate was polished off. seriously, its getting annoying. do i need to start putting my name on things??? geez. Pic # 3: Calorie break down of #2: 226 cals of avocado, tomatoes, pate and cheese. ate it all.
  24. well, ill eat anything at least once*. i do admit i do enjoy liver (pate!), kidney (steak and kidney pie!), beef tongue (ramen!), sweetbread (any way!), and bone marrow (on toast! osso buco!)...dont know if tomalley is considered offel, but i love that stuff too! there are other things i've tried but cant try again in the near future just cuz i cant get over the idea of it yet (i wont say for the squeamish, lol...sorry if i grossed some out already) *Edited to add: actually, i just remembered refusing to try something once. we were at an asian night market and there were bbq'd insects for sale. we were dared to eat some sort of GIANT slug/larvae on a stick (cant remember what it was) or sing a kareoke song on the stage...needless to say my singing career was born that night 😂😂😂😂
