smoked salmon cream cheese mousse atop mini potato cakes (omg so good, ate 3 and all the garnish) AND roasted beet tartare boats (not nearly as good, ate about half of one..too much "boat" and not enough beet) AND 1/2 bottle of wine, 2 espresso martinis, 1 vodka soda and a couple sips of some waaaaay-too-sweet lemonade-elderflower cocktail. -

everyday is different for me. some days im food heavy in the beginning of my eating window, sometimes at the end, sometimes middle, sometimes not at all. all depends on how im feeling any particular days. grazing vs. snacking: i *think*, now that u guys bring it up, the diff between the two is scheduling and/or regularity. i guess for me, meals + snacks would be at set times more or less with set amounts. grazing is more like whatever: i eat when i feel like it, in small-ish amounts all "day" long (where "day" for me is generally 12-7 pm) note: i do eat outside this window on occasion but not often

im 4+ years post op. I've been grazing since the beginning and still do. I think it matters more how many total calories you consume than how many times you eat. so long as the higher frequency of eating times does not result in more calories overall (for your given situation), you should find it makes no difference. Good luck! ❤️

Mini tasting menu Japanese lunch. I had a taste (about a teaspoons worth) of everything, except the Chawanmushi (which i ate in its entirety) plus a miso soup with clams that i didn't take a pic of. For perspective, each bowl is about the size of a tennis ball. Est 355 calories for what i ate...mr. ate the rest. Clockwise from top: spicy salmon sashimi & avocado on sushi rice; braised beef tongue and tamago (japanese style rolled omelette); Chawanmushi (savory steamed egg custard with shrimp and mushrooms), squid, Ikura (salmon roe) and a quail egg on sushi rice); seaweed salad in the middle. -

OMG this looks ah-may-zing 🤤🤤🤤 -
how about protein powders that you can mix up with water when u get there? ?and even on the plane). i used to also bring along bags of beef jerky and chicharron (i.e., pork rinds/cracklins). The latter is high in protein but also really high in calories and fat, so depends on your plan.

brunch: crackers and avocado (with salt, pepper & splash of lemon juice): 421 cals for bowl. Didn't feel like eating the rest later (oxidized avocado is just unappealing!) so tossed in trash. -

Hair loss and extensions?
ms.sss replied to happynewbie's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
i would wait to with the hair extensions until after you pass the hair loss stage. the extensions will simply fall out with your already shedding hair. worse, it may inadvertently pull out the hair that didn't shed because of the increased stress on them. i understand it totally sucks when i are on the throes of it, but it really is only temporary. i chopped off all my hair as well at 3 months post. im 4+ years out and it is now well past my underboobs. And thicker, yay! And curlier (weird, but also yay!) Hang in there! ❤️ -
turning 51 this year, had the sleeve done when i was 46. BEST. DECISION. EVER. Not bad for an old lady (sorry to those who've seen this many times before...i haven't taken any new ones suitable for posting in over a year...)

without getting into the how's and why's one is encouraged to eat slowly, here's a superficial tip to slow down eating that i discovered by accident: use your non-dominant hand...works surprisingly well.

Can tolerate more than I think I should?
ms.sss replied to LivDee's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
im going to be a semi-dissenter here, based, of course, on MY personal experience. disclaimer, disclaimer, etc., etc., and all that. I did not follow my teams plan. Instead, i went with what my body could handle and the results it produced (i.e.. i went less calories than recommended; i went less carbs than recommended; i went against the recommended macro distribution; i drank coffee, carbonated liquids, did not have breakfast; did not eat set meals but grazed throughout my eating window; all actions that were contrary to what was told to me by my NUT). I also told my NUT everything i was doing. in short, if something worked (and had no undesirable effects), i continued doing it, if it didn't, i stopped. i realize this is not an approach that would work for everyone, but it did for ME. I paid more attention to what worked in my favour vs. what other people told me worked for THEM, or what they thought i should be doing. i'll say it now, and i'll say it again: there is no one size fits all approach for everyone, no matter what stage u are in (in my humble opinion). as for the topic of willpower: i would say, for ME, it was more about conditioning (and still is). the surgery gave me the awesome gift of immediate (and sometimes aggressive) feedback when i ate too much, or too fast, or ingested too much sugar. All of which are things that got me to obesity in the first place. The unpleasant physical symptoms of doing any of the above due to the surgery has effectively Pavlov'ed me out of being fat. Which i am immensely grateful for. I am 4+ years out of surgery and have maintained below goal weight ever since i reached it at 7 months post op....all thanks to my absolute distaste for feeling overly full and dumping. well, that and my desire to wear bikinis, lol. In short, do what works for you, use your team for guidance, and if something isn't working, stop doing it. AND if you struggle to do the above, a good therapist would go a long way to help (which, granted is hard to find). Good Luck! ❤️ -

Im sorry that the Angry OP is feeling bullied, or if they feel others are being bullied...as i think I can safely say for everyone that is/was not the intention 💔 I don't think anyone (other than AOP, ironically) targeted their respective angsts to anyone in particular? BUT in the interest of grace, OP is a relatively new member (who was inactive for 6 months) vs alot of us on this thread who are sort of BP old dogs, so we've had years to develop our icks to "overused" words and practices, while newer folks have only recently integrated them into their vernaculars. So i can see how she may have felt "targeted" for us expressing our distastes for words she may be using? We've all got different perspectives (which i think is a good thing!) In any case, i would just like to say I am far from miserable (quite the contrary actually) and in my humble opinion think that the BP forum community is actually one of the nicer, more supportive and friendly forums out there. ....aaaand SCENE. As you were. p.s. sorry this so long p.p.s. to the OP in question: sorry if anything i said made u feel bad, i can see how u may have felt bad if u use the words i put down. ❤️ perhaps disclaimers were needed. p.p.p.s. to the ORIGINAL OP of this thread: I still enjoyed participating and getting a chance to vent. Further, I am 50 years old and "ick" is a regular part of my vocabulary. ❤️ EDITED TO ADD: i took a moment just now to read a bit of OP's activity history...kinda gives a bit more perspective where they were coming from. 😕 -

junky meal(s) alert: went out for dinner yesterday to a mexican place (forgot to take pics..but i had 1 tilapia taco, a couple scoops of guac with tortilla chips? and a chili coconut margarita, est ~750 cals for what i ate). BUT i also ordered some a tres leche cake for dessert that went straight into a take out box cuz i was done eating. i ended up eating about 1/4 of the cake (probably a little less) and 1/4 of an oatmeal raisin cookie for a snack while watching tv later that night: 152 calories. (seems like it should be more cals but whatevs) i AGAIN ate the same amount of the same desserts today for breakfast/lunch. i figure i have at least 2 more meal/snacks of cake-cookie ahead of me unless mr. gets to it first. -

Same. I eat alot of junky "meals", and sometimes i post them (i'm looking at you cheese popcorn dinners!), but i am afraid sometimes that posting these junky meals may be triggering for some people and may not be appreciated (or get judged: i drink alot of alcohol) i dunno.... It's true that i don't eat much in volume, but i do get up there in calories (like 2K a day) like @GreenTealael proposed, i'll try to show more varied examples of what i eat (fair warning: they may not be pretty!) i agree that the more people post what they eat, we all get a better idea of how varied we all are, and hopefully gain some acceptance and recognition that there are a whole host of ways to be...and that's ok. ❤️
