    Any CrossFit peeps?

you can totally work core without lifting (well at least not anything more than your own body weight). google body weight core exercises. i did alot of yoga. oh, and planks are your friend, lol.
  2. i use My Fitness Pal, the paid version, but the free version is good too.
  3. side rice (with ur chicken) vs. sushi rice: somehow stomach capacity is more forgiving when raw fish is involved 😂😂

    traumatized by puréed

ugh pureed stage traumatized me too. on first day of puréed stage i blended up some beef. yes, it looked as bad as it sounds. i took a whiff if it and wanted to barf. then promptly threw it in the bin. was so off-putting i didn't eat for the rest of the day. *shudder* i decided i would just extend my full fluids stage another week and went straight to minced stage afterwards. no harm, no foul.

    Any CrossFit peeps?

it was a while ago, but i do remember having a blast. i went with a bunch of girlfriends and it was mostly laughs and sad attempts to get up the pole (spoiler alert: none of us had enough upper body strength to get up the pole any significant bit lol). but i do think if i ever do get up that pole, core strength would definitely help to stay up there. i haven't gone since but now that u remind me of it, i'll likely set up another go with pals for more laughs.
  6. i do this too! and agree it makes a huge difference! i used to always eat by "saving the best for last". but after wls, it was like, "why??" why am i eating the less yummy stuff and wasting valuable stomach real estate?? so i started eating the best part first, and i am much happier, lol (and i actually end up eating less so im not so full!)
  7. i had a serious (and extended) case of food aversion. still get it every once in a while now at 4.5+ years out. during those/these times i don't actually feel hungry though...its more like "i should probably eat something", but don't want to cuz i had/have the icks. so i don't. i'm of the (minority) mind that i won't force myself to eat if it will lead to an unpleasant experience. i just didn't/don't want to have that kind of relationship with food (or anything really) with that said there where periods where i ate very little..,but i would always get a window eventually when i did want to eat. and did. with so little calories i did feel very weak and tired, plus my blood pressure went way low, and would get woozy if i moved too fast. this happened regularly for about 3 months and by month 4-5 it was much better, probably because i was eating more and moving around much more. one thing my doc did suggest, which i think did help with the wooziness was increase my sodium intake. which was fine by me cuz i love salty things lol. as for throwing out shaker bottles and never having soup/broths again...never say never: things are always changing and will continue to change no matter what. if you can accept and make peace (sans angst!) with whatever comes and goes, as part and parcel of ur weight loss (of life, really), then the ride will be alot smoother. Good Luck! ❤️

    OOTD

couldn't resist a deal. picked up these "sock stilettos" at the mall today for $30 CDN. i have absolutely no where to wear them, so i'm just playing dress up at home. paired them with a faux leather skirt which i also bought on a whim a couple years back which i have worn in public a total of ONE time, ha. if it wasn't for this OOTD thread, human eyes would not be laid on like 3/4 of my wardrobe 😂. i need to get out (and dress up!) more. p.s. pro tip: wear super high heels will make you look taller and skinner than you really are! p.p.s. oh, and cross one leg in front of the other one in pictures...makes your butt/hips look like they actually exist!!

    Back Pain when walking

congratulations on ur upcoming wedding! the back pain seems to be a pretty common occurrence soon after surgery/weight loss. i already had back and foot pain pre-surgery, but about 1-2 months post op a NEW back pain showed up. as well as NEW foot pain and hip pain (the hip pain actually was the most annoying). like your doctor, mine also said it was due to weight loss (i had lost about 50 lbs by month 2, including the 2wk pre-op diet), and that my musculature was built over years to support my weight so need to adjust to support my changing weight. if i remember correctly it all went away by month 3 or 4. i didn't take any pain medication (but i probably should have), but i did start doing yoga and core exercises in month 3, but im not sure if that contributed to the pain going away or it was just my body finally adjusted. in any case hope all your appts lined up get you up an at em by your big day!
  14. ...which leads me to: Lunch, take two. Updated the lasagna entry and added a slice of this hilarious pizza Mr. brought home. check out the size of this "slice" (see the fork for size comparison, lololzzz). so for the martini, the bite of the aforementioned lasagna, and the piece of pizza, total cals came up to 395 for my lunch. ate about 1/2 of my "slice of slice of pizza", will eat the rest later cuz that damn bite of lasagna is sitting in my stomach taking up valuable real estate.
  15. Lunch, take one: has an espresso martini beforehand (not shown), and served myself roughly half a cup of take-out lasagna. 279 cals for the drink and the lasagna . BUT..after one bite of the lasagna i handed it over to Mr. cuz i didn't like the ratio of noodles to sauce! Waaaay too much pasta compared to sauce...was like eating a stack of pasta sheets.

    Does Eating really get easier?

if there is one single piece of advice i could dile out to the newly wls-ed, it would be not to sweat what u can or can't do first couple weeks. you just had major surgery and recovering from it, try to to expect to go running straight out of the gate, it'll come eventually. i didn't meet my water goals for the first two weeks. i didn't make my protein goals until well after a month or two post op. in fact, i couldn't even reach my DAILY protein goal amount in an entire WEEK of eating the first 2-3 weeks. like u, i also had serious food aversion and just didn't want to eat anything. at all. it was really bad the first couple months but still persisted on and off throughout weight loss phase. even now, at over 4.5 years post op, i still turn up my nose to eating every now and then. not as often as before, but still. despite all that, all my labs came back just fine (and still do) and i lost all the weight i wanted, and did NOT end up underweight nor mal-nourished. as for when i started eating "normal" food, it was probably after maintenance...and not because i couldn't, it was a conscious choice cuz i was prioritizing weight loss. speaking of "normal"...others would probably see how i eat and think its NOT normal (volume and amount-wise), but its a (new) normal for me. so yeah, many of us went through what u are going through now and turned out just fine. hang in there and know this is not forever, and u'll be alright ❤️
  17. 1/3 a mcdonalds fillet-o-fish and some fries with ketchup. 183 calories. (seems like it should be way more calories , but i'll go with what MFP says 🤷🏻‍♀️ ) Ate it all, yummer.

    Craving sushi

the thing about gas station or grocery or wherever pre-made sushi that sits on the shelf for purchase, is the texture of the rice gets compromised. gets dried out and hard(er). as for maki/rolls on the shelf, the nori gets soggy.

    Craving sushi

i didn't have sushi until way into maintenance...probably like 2 years post op or so. however, i did have sashimi pretty regularly starting at around 4-5 months post op. i think the first time i only had 1 piece (barely), but i eventually graduated to like 2-3 peices by the 1-yr post op mark. Nowadays (at 4.5+ yrs post-op) i could have like 6-7 peices (of sashimi) in one sitting so long as i don't eat anything else. As for sushi or maki/rolls, I could probably have like 2-3 in one sitting....but i don't have it as often as sashimi, cuz i don't like to waste stomach space on rice, lol.

    Period changes post VSG

i didn't have a period for about 2 years before surgery. i assumed i was menopausal (turns out i was just fat). 2-3 weeks after surgery i got a period that lasted almost 2 weeks...which was weird...even more weird that my "normal" periods normally lasted 3-4 days. after that i got a "regular" period every month like clockwork. that went on for about 3 years until about a year ago when it went wonky again. i think i've had a period twice in the last 12 months. i'm assuming im actually menopausal now, ha (im 50 today , had my surgery in 2018)
  22. @shanza ! omg welcome back! u are like the second person in as many days who seemingly came back outta nowhere from our old days lol. must be something in the air lol. ❤️

  24. lunchtime! about a cup of one of those pre-made Costco bagged salads, some cheese and about 1/2 cup of cut mango. 284 calories for the bowl. Ate all the mango and about 1/4 the salad (the dressing was little too sweet for me...this is why i prefer to make my own dessing/vinaigrette!!) and like one bite of cheese cube (tasted weird with the salad, so pushed it off to the side) ...the Kid ate my leftovers.
