Maybe some newbies will benefit from this answer, too....
ms.sss replied to SleeveToBypass2023's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
i use the weight i was on my first day of my 2 week pre-op diet (235 lbs which happened to be my highest weight recorded). p.s. my weight when i had my very first consultation 2 years prior to that was lower...i think it was like 220 or something. there is a statistic where you can input your weight on day of surgery, but it's just not included in the summary under your name in the side bar.... @Alex Brecher...maybe we can include "weight on surgery day" in the side bar info? -

yum! i make cookie versions of this all the time! i've made it both sugar and sugar-free in varying degrees of success. for sugar-free i find monk fruit sweetener works best...but it is waaaay sweeter pound for pound so use less! you'll have to add some sort of wet/moist ingredient to make up for the volume loss in the recipe tho...i've used unsweetened almond milk and olive oil...which one depending on how many calories i want per serving in the end, ha. -
so a quick google states that a weight loss "stall" or "plateau" is 4 CONSECUTIVE WEEKS of no weight gain NOR loss while on a CONSISTENT calorie intake. basically, this means netting the SAME average amount of calories (intake less expenditure) for 4 weeks and staying at the same weight for said 4 weeks. this generally means that you have reached an equilibrium with your intake (calories) and your expenditure (activity). which means you either have to reduce your intake or increase your expenditure to restart a downward trend. the inverse of this is also true: increase your intake or decrease your expenditure, and you will GAIN weight. sooooo...if you are below 4 weeks of the scale not moving (in conjunction of your measurements not reducing), then stay the course...you are in a stall. if you are ABOVE 4 weeks of the scale (and measurements) not moving, then this would indicate the time to start re-evaluating your lifestyle IF you want to lose more...you are in a plateau. if you are happy with your current lifestyle, and just don't want nor need to make changes, then is a matter of accepting yourself as you are now. ain't nothing wrong with that! not everyone gets to their arbitrary goal weight. and those that do, the majority don't even stay there. find the weight that you are cool with expending the effort to maintain. it's different for everybody. good luck! ❤️

exercise! strengthen your back, glutes, core! pay special attention to your shoulder and scapula positioning to be efficient and not promote further undesirable form and when ur just walking or sitting around, try to remember to consistently stack your shoulders over your hips (you may have to squeeze ur shoulders together and/or tilt your pelvis, and or "bring your bellybutton towards your spine"...this basically means engage your abdominals, kinda like bracing urself for a punch in the stomach... sounds like alot, (and at first it will feel like alot), but after awhile it becomes muscle memory good luck!

i used to hate him with a fire of a thousand suns too...until i watched Masterchef Junior several years ago and realized TV is fake (who knew?? lol). He employs TOTALLY different persona on the Junior shows. He's actually kinda sweet and nurturing on them. I figure his ass-hole-ery on Hell's Kitchen is all for show - or maybe it his schtick on Junior that is...either way, he's probably just a regular guy. 🤷🏻♀️ (plus those people that appear on the shows probably already know what they are getting themselves into and have their own share of schtick going on...) ...in any case i watch it anyway cuz i love the food and cooking! i'll just fast forward if it gets to cringey. -

oh dear god, i bet you $100 (CAD, lol) that the Canadian version is EVEN WORSE. i still watch it though (cuz i loooove cooking shows), i just fast forward all the talking. love Mary, can tolerate Prue (but her ranking goes up if she's on a show with Noel, lol)). ree bugs me too. My fave cooking host of all time is Padma on Top chef. she's the perfect mix of constructive criticism, humour and disdain ahhahaha. plus she's super cool and dresses nice. honourable mention is Phil Rosenthal on Someone Feed Phil. while not a cooking show (more like an eating show). he's honestly so endearing. and his parent's (r.i.p) cameos in his older shows were sooooo hilarious. -

i have kind of the opposite-opposite problem. i cant sleep comfortably on my stomach (my preferred sleeping position pre-wls)....it makes my back sore. my working theory is that my lack of stomach bulk results in my lower back hyper-extendeding, hence the pain. -

Mr. always thought/thinks its funny and found/finds opportunities to get a laugh out of it. the first year or so after wls, we'd go to parties/weddings/whatever where some family members or friends haven't seen me in a while and didn't recognize me. Mr. would pretend he didn't know me and come up to a group im in and out-flirt the flirters, or plant a big kiss or grope on me in front of them and say let's get outta here, and tell the others if ms.sss is looking for him, tell her you didn't see me. that bit didn't last for very long after everyone we knew finally saw the smaller me again. but it was hilarious while it lasted. a couple years ago i did a fun boudoir photoshoot for my 50th bday. Mr. used one of pictures as his phone's home screensaver for a while. he'd leave his phone on the counter when out and about and people would never fail to say something either in appreciation (for the hot pic, or for his audacity and freedom to put random hot women on his phone) or their disgust (for his audacity to disrespect me so to put random hot women on his phone). sometimes he'd eventually tell them it was me, sometimes no. either way he'd have a laugh. here's aforementioned pic he used. this was taken a couple years ago on for my 50th bday...

well...we didn't end up going to Costco...whomp whomp we got distracted house hunting and then ended up picking up Popeyes in the way home...double womp womp. an onion ring, 3 boneless chicken wings, and a scoop each of cole slaw & the mashed potatoes. estimated 370 calories for the before pic. ate the sides, a bite of the onion ring (not very good) and 1 of the chicken wings which turned out to have a bone in it, surprise! hahah. -
ladies... (and gents)...(and everyone in between😞 not every day will be perfect, or a success or an accomplishment. some days will be the polar opposite. thats just life (post wls or not) give yourself some grace, be kind to yourself. i read somewhere that when u feeling shitty, treat yourself how you would a dear friend who was feeling shitty. good advice, methinks. hugs y'all.

Can't Stop Eating Too Fast!
ms.sss replied to NeonRaven8919's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
very good point. when one eats very fast, which usually goes hand in hand with not chewing enough, they get full faster (i'm specifically talking about a wls patient with a physically smaller stomach). they end up eating less overall (or throwing it up due to discomfort/pain) had they taken their time. and like L90 said above, they get hungry sooner. rinse and repeat. -

oops i did it again: came home from 2.5 hours of hot yoga and was too lazy to fix something so reached for some junk. sour cream & onion chips, 1/4 of a coconut bun and 1 of those dark-chocolate-peanut-butter cups i made the other day. 317 calories for it all. ate almost all of it. (i really need to make sure there is something to eat when i get home from yoga/pilates/rock climbing....need to go grocery shopping!!) -

went on a sauce/condiment making rabbit hole yesterday... from left to right: 1) garlic chilli crisp oil 2) ginger green onion sauce 3) simple syrup 4) earl grey infused simple syrup (made this on whim and don't know how i survived all this time without it! #yum) added a generous drizzle over some silken tofu....😋 **last pic: a tbsp each of the chili crisp and the ginger sauce with 50g of Char Sui (aka Chinese bbq pork)...ate it all! (224 calories) -
yeah, my Mr. too. i mean, i KNOW i look better now than my obesity era, and i know he's not blind. i also know he is loath to support unhealthy body images (esp with our anxiety-ridden Kid around), so he would never say in WORDS. but i see you salivating, mr...i'm not blind either. his default answer is that i look the "hottest" when i'm healthy and happy. fortunately for him when i'm healthy and happy, i'm wearing and doing all the naughty things in the bedroom (or living room, or kitchen, or car....). so i guess i'll take whatever he has to say (but i KNOW i'm hawt!!! lololzzz)

sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but lose enough weight and the butt will follow the same deflated path as the boobs. le sigh. i mean you could do a whole lotta squats and leg lifts and bridges, but unless you gain the exact same muscle mass in volume as you the fat you lost, you are gonna see some excess skin. i've been doing some dedicated butt work, and yes, when i flex i get a little bit of a nice bumpy "portrusion", but my extra skin is draped over it! lololzzz... if i'm feeling adventurous, i'll see if i can post of pic of what i'm taking about. ha! in any case, loose skin or not, deflated boobies and saggy bottoms, if you feel good, it really doesn't matter. cuz when you feel good, it projects outwardly. (and p.s., its projecting in your case ❤️)
