I stood up straight today! But then I sat down in front of the TV for an hour and I "re-hunched" myself. So I guess I need to move more often I also walked outside for 10.6 kms today! Mind you it took me 2+ hours over 3 separate trips, but I did it! So long as the weather is reasonable, I've made it a short term goal to do 10 km outdoor walks until I can start running again. Now that the front of me is looking pretty good due to the PS, by backside (read: my butt) is looking even worse by comparison. So I also started doing some squats today I hate them, but its really the only exercise I can do given my current recovery state. We'll see how long I can keep this up, LOL. I really, really, really, want to see how my incisions are doing, but the steri-stips are firmly staying in place and will not be changed (if at all) until Jan 8 at my next follow up with my surgeon. Swelling is still an issue, but I think I'm the only one that notices it. My pants continue to be tight at the waist. I am really looking forward to getting out of these joggers and hoodies I've been sporting...especially as its Mr & my anniversary next week and I wanna wear something nice to dinner at least!!

Do you think 49 is too old for plastic surgery?
ms.sss replied to Panda333's topic in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery
Had my WLS at 46, then PS at 47. The former made me feel younger, the latter is making me look it, LOL -
That is the goal, after all ❤️

A Tale of Two Arm Lifts (rs & ms.sss)
ms.sss replied to ms.sss's topic in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery
I didn't read your post until after I wrote mine just now, but yeah, what you said! LOL, we all need to MOVE. I went for a 3km walk this morning, and while it took FOREVER, it felt really good to get moving. My mini-goal today is to go on several mini-walks every couple of hours and get 10km total under my belt. For some reason I'm not nearly as tired as I have been lately so am gonna take advantage of the energy I've got today (may have been all the calories I consumed last night, LOL). Re: the Spanx/compression garments, I picked up a few well made and inexpensive garments (a body suit, vest & shorts) from Amazon you may want to check out.... -

I think you have sort of alluded to it in your post: you need to move or change your positions often. I have been walking more and more the past 3 days and this morning I was able to stand up straight. I sat down afterwards and watched a 1 hr TV show and when I got up I was hunched over again. In terms of my arms, I am also making a point of moving them more (specifically raising them higher) and again, I notice the more i move them the less stiff they are. So while I liked being waited on by Mr. and the Kid for the past couple weeks, it is better for me if I do more stuff for myself as it makes me move around and loosen up....even if it is less efficient. ...In terms of the pain & swelling near your elbows, do you know if your surgeon did any Lipo there? -
Yesterday, Tuesday, Dec. 31 Maintenance : 5'2" / 1yr PO Sleeve / ??? lbs (last weigh in 115.0 lbs on Dec 18th) ---------------------------------------- NYE was a low key house party at a friend's house and I was fully prepared for a calorie and carb overload last night, so I did not disappoint...LOLzzz: ...and yes, there was still pecan pie in the fridge which we dove into when we got home. ...and yes, i dumped. I knew it was going to happen soon after I finished my late-night pecan pie. Since I was pretty tipsy the death feelings were short lived as I pretty much passed out after the bathroom portion of the dumping. Mr. was sober enough to carry me upstairs and put me in bed. Unfortunately he did not wipe off my makeup so I LOOKED like death this morning. (Note to self: someday teach Mr. how to do my nightly face cleansing routine....) ---------------------------------------- 9:30am - Grande Starbucks Blonde Soy Americano Misto 1:30pm - salad w/ vinaigrette + cucumber + carrots + 6 grape tomatoes + 1 tsp grated Parmesan + 1 slice prosciutto + 1 oz roast beef + 1/2 oz grilled squid + 1 shrimp + 1 oz bbq pork + 1/2 oz grilled chicken + 5:30pm - the leftovers from my 1:30pm meal + 4 chocolate covered coffee beans + 1 slice pecan pie 8:00pm to 2:30am: 9 mini bell peppers + 3 baby carrots + 1 broccoli floret + 2 tbsp ranch dip 1 oz brie + 2 slices cured meat + 1 tsp blood orange jam 7 oz total roast pork w/ 2 tbsp sauce 1 snack pack Glazed Pecan w/ Cranberries Trail Mix 1 tbsp tiramisu 3/4 cup greek yogurt + 1 oz blueberries + 1 tsp chia seeds + 1 oz almonds 2 seed crackers w/ peppercorn pate 1/2 slice pecan pie 1 french macaron 1 bottle of red wine ( << yep you read that right.) 1/4 glass champagne ---------------------------------------- Totals: 3275 cals - 126g Protein - 224g NET carbs - 160g fat

Yesterday, Monday, Dec. 30 Maintenance : 5'2" / 1yr PO Sleeve / ??? lbs (last weigh in 115.0 lbs on Dec 18th) ---------------------------------------- Man, we were gifted a Pecan Pie from our neighbour yesterday and it is so delicious. I had 2 half slices yesterday and as I type this I am contemplating getting another 1/2 slice. I'm hoping that Mr. and the Kid finished it off by now because while I didn't have any serious dumping, i did get a racing heart for like 30-40 mins and got pretty tired after I ate it each time yesterday (and the macrons and truffles probably didn't help either). All these holiday treats and snacks in the house right now will be the death of me. ---------------------------------------- 1:30pm - salad w/ vinaigrette + cheddar + cucumber + carrots + 6 grape tomatoes + 1 slice prosciutto + 6 mussels in white wine sauce + 1/2 slice pecan pie 5:30pm - 3/4 cup greek yogurt + 1 oz blueberries + 1 tsp chia seeds + 1 oz almonds + 1/4 cup full fat milk + 2 french macarons + 3 seed crackers + 2 tbsp peppercorn paté 8:00pm - salad w/ vinaigrette + 1 tsp grated parm + cucumber + carrots + 10 mussels in white wine sauce 11:30pm - 1/2 cup greek yogurt + 1 oz blueberries + 1 tsp chia seeds + 2 Lindt Lindor Dark Chocolate Truffles + 1/2 slice pecan pie ---------------------------------------- Totals: 1742 cals - 89g Protein - 168g NET carbs - 75g fat

I'm 2 weeks post op today and I haven't done either of those yet...though if I had to, I'm sure I could do a short grocery run by myself (if I didn't have to drive there). I don't think I can drive as I would not be able to comfortably do a hand-over-hand left/right hand turn on the steering wheel... -

@okayestmom : During the conversation I told her that WLS patients that pursue plastic surgery keep more weight off at the 10 and 15 year mark I have read this as well. One aspect for me at least, is that I just sunk a bunch of money into this so I BETTER keep the weight off! Avoidance of money-wastage is a HUGE motivator for me, LOL. ...gaining weight without my usual gym schedule. I was a slow loser and even gained some on this journey. The gym not only helped with my weight, but my overall health and well-being. At first it felt like a second job I had to go to. I started going twice a week to a 30 minute beginner class and doing the free Sat. morning class. I was a total couch potato too pre-wls. Started out small like you, and now I consider myself relatively active. Prior to the plastics I normally run 5km a day plus 15-20 mins of some strength training of one body part or another. I started walking around the block (600m) a couple days ago and while it was exhausting, it felt really good to be moving around again. I'm itching to get back to my running routine as I have this irrational concern that what little muscles I have are wasting away.... Do you know when you will be cleared for exercise/lifting? ..my adult children call them poor people tax omg, that is what my family calls them too! LOL -

Bwha-hahahahahhhaa 🤣 . Seriously, there is always at least one post that has me laughing out loud whenever I log onto here.... I haven't shaved yet, nor have I used deodorant. I can't really raise my arm high enough anyway and I've still got steri-strips on. Though I do tend to sweat under my arm garment at night (these things are NOT breathable) so I stick some paper towels under there so I don't smell so "ripe" in the mornings. Thank goodness I can shower now. If/when I do start shaving/deodorizing, I'll likely do what @mousecat88 is doing and work around the incisions. I haven't actually seen the incisions yet under there, and I anticipate that I will do a little freaking out myself. Yikes. ...braiding...LOLOLOLOLOLOLzzzzz -
I'm the opposite. I LOVE NYE parties. So I'm kinda bummed that we are going low-key this year due to my PS recovery. I was hoping to get to wear something awesome given that this is my first NYE in like 15 or so years that I am at a "healthy" body weight. It's gonna be jogging pants or something for me tonite.... @Healthy_life2...I haven't forgotten your post from a while back...looking forward to seeing you looking wickedly awesome in your dress

I'm liking the flatness (and wrinkle-free!) aspect of mine too My stretch marks were on my hips and they seem to have been excised. However. There seems to be some skin discolouration that I guess was previously hidden in the crease where my torso and thigh connect. Now that all the skin there got stretched out, it is now easily visible. I'm hoping exposure to some light/sun/air will even out the skin tone there eventually... Btw, I now have an even greater appreciation of your ability to go dancing for 3 hours so soon after your surgery a couple weeks back! I am 2 weeks PO tomorrow and I am still slightly hunched over AND I was so pooped from merely walking around the block earlier that I feel asleep on the couch afterwards. You've got super healing powers. -
@Katie Loesch-Meyer : I just saw the MFP screenshot you uploaded...I'm thinking perhaps the listed daily goal of 1822 calories may not be weight loss calories for someone of your height? ....Actually maybe even the 1400 cals you logged may not be either...?

Yep, night time eating is a challenge for many to get over, I am hungrier (or maybe "cravier" is a better word) at night than I am in the mornings. Easier said, I know, but I generally ask myself if I really want it, and if after 1/2 an hour and something to drink I still want it, then fine, I'll have it. The wait and drink strategy works for me about 80% of the time. Which is good enough. Is not keeping stuff like that in your house an option? You mentioned you had 3 kids, so maybe not...

Preparation for After Surgery
ms.sss replied to adkmalik's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Also something to think about before you stock up on a particular flavour of something right now: often WLS patients find that their tastes change. So what like right now may not be the same afterwards. -
what does a typical day of food look like if you are 1 yr or more post op?
ms.sss replied to Katie Loesch-Meyer's topic in Post-op Diets and Questions
post away...we've got folks on there who sometimes post who are working on losing regains as well (it's part of maintenance, after all) -
Amen, sister. Everyone will have a specialized plan that they need to discover that works for them. Long Term. There is no one-size fits all. What works for one person may or may not work for another. I'm really happy for you that you have a plan to start off with (which is so much healthier for you body AND mind). Will be following and cheering you on along the way... ❤️❤️

Ha! They are only low-carb compared to regular flour based pasta. maybe this video will help you with your aversion with that word..LOLOLOLOLOLOLOLzzzzzzz
