A Tale of Two Arm Lifts (rs & ms.sss)
ms.sss replied to ms.sss's topic in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery
so I don't lose any more muscle? At least until I can get my calories back up again. Does that make sense, or am getting the concept of that wrong? Edited to add: I am thinking that I am not eating enough to sustain my current activity level... Edited to add #2: Also, maybe I should add that I'm not looking to lose any more weight... -
OML she is too perfect. Though you know, the Star Wars franchise IS under the Disney umbrella, so technically Rey is a Disney Princess, lol. Your niece and this other little girl could hang out and project their utter awesome-ness: https://redtri.com/little-girl-meeting-rey-chewbacca-star-wars/

Omg, she's gonna have her mind blown. Such a nice uncle... Um, you know every little girl's dream is to get made up like a Disney Princess...just saying, Uncle Jake, lol: https://disneyworld.disney.go.com/en_CA/shops/disney-springs/bibbidi-bobbidi-boutique-marketplace/

Yesterday, Thursday, Jan. 2 Maintenance : 5'2" / 1yr PO Sleeve / 109 lbs ---------------------------------------- Finally got on the scale properly for first time PO. Down 6 lbs since morning of surgery. And I think it is mostly muscle loss, so not really good news. Though I did have a massive poop last night so there is that. Anyway. On the bright side, we got a belated Xmas gift platter of nuts that we enjoyed while watching "Get Smart" starring Steve Carrell and Anne Hathaway last night. That movie is funny 😂 ---------------------------------------- 12:30pm - salad w/ vinaigrette + cucumber + carrots + 1 oz cheddar + 6 grape tomatoes + 3 oz grilled chicken 5:00pm - 4.5 oz steak + 2 oz grilled chicken + 1 seed cracker w/ peppercorn paté + 5 dark chocolate covered coffee beans + 1 Keto choco-coconut fat bomb. 7:30pm - salad w/ vinaigrette + 6 grape tomatoes + 1 oz almonds + 4 oz grilled chicken + 1 tbsp peppercorn paté 11:30pm - 3/4 cup chocolate peanut butter protein ice cream + 1/2 cup cashews + 1/2 cup almonds + 1 seed cracker w/ peppercorn paté ---------------------------------------- Totals: 1955 cals - 129g Protein - 64g NET carbs - 118g fat

Actually, I think I would categorize you in the column of the lucky few who's skin snapped back pretty well. After a 202 lbs loss, your skin is in amazing shape. Congrats, you look great! -
A Tale of Two Arm Lifts (rs & ms.sss)

...so I finally got around to weigh myself "properly" this morning (i.e, first thing in the morning, after my pee and standing on scale buck naked): 109 lbs. I knew I would lose a bit of weight as I have not been eating close to my normal maintenance calories. MFP tells me I've been averaging about 1100-1200 cals for the past 2 weeks and a bit, so yeah, I guess weight loss was inevitable. But 6 lbs? Geez. This bums me out because according to my scale, my body fat percentage also went up to 19.3% (normally I hover around 13-15%). So this means I lost muscle. Now, Mr. says to take this morning's fat reading with a grain of salt, as it is just a single day measurement and I really need to have several days data in a row for a more reliable reading. But still. I worked hard for that stinkin' muscle. So I'm gonna go back to daily weighing to see if this was just an anomoly. Also, I'm now also thinking I should cut back on the recently increased exercise I've been doing?? Arg. -

Wow. And you are at 7 weeks? At this rate your scars will be virtually invisible by springtime. Just in time for t-shirt weather! -
And mine did not give me any instructions regarding wet vs. dry! Only to dry my steri-strips after showering and tape over any loosening ones with new ones (at least until I see him again next week). 🤷🏼♀️

Good point. I can raise my arms higher if I keep them straight. When they are bent at the elbows, the range of motion is much smaller. -
@mousecat88 did you not have steri-stips placed on your incisions either?

Family Cooking w/ Bypass & combined diets
ms.sss replied to AmandaDT's topic in Post-op Diets and Questions
I made separate meals for the fam. It was easier. Mind you, my own meals were not very varied as I basically ate salad & grilled chicken for the most part and making separate meals for me was a no-brainer: keep salad greens in the fridge and grill up chicken in batches to help myself to as needed. -

If I had to, I would have been able to tie my shoelaces and put on my socks pants, etc by myself (I didn't though cuz I had Mr. and the Kid do it for me). Anything bending down or reaching down was doable, even on the first day back home. It's when I had to do anything that required lifting my arms up that I had/have issue with. In terms of reachability for colouring hair, I was able to comb/brush the ends of my short hair by end of 1st week. I could reach the top of my head about 10 days PO...but I had to duck my head down. I still have to duck it down a bit today at 2 weeks post-op. Right now the highest I can raise my arms is the point where my elbows are maybe an inch just below my shoulders. Anything higher and I can feel a tightness/stretching that is uncomfortable. With that said, everyone is different. @mousecat88 was able to do so much so soon afterwards. She was able to do more at 2 days post op than I can do now at 2 weeks post-op... 🤷🏼♀️ -
Further to the theories that WLS changes metabolic function for the better, I also normally run 5km every day and have a relatively low body fat percentage....which likely contributes to my maintenance calorie levels. Though I also know that @sillykitty doesn't exercise much (except maybe to walk to her dry cleaners, LOLOLOLzzz), so who knows... 🤷🏼♀️

Good choice This is my personal favourite of the 3 ...❤️

Honestly, the breast lift aspect of this has been a non-issue this entire time. I've had zero pain or discomfort from it since the beginning. I think perhaps its because I didn't move enough in the beginning. I was probably enjoying being waited on too much...lol -
