    Life Taken Away

    sending you hearts...❤️
  2. @Findaway : wow the wedding dress makes your waist look TINY
  3. Update: Since putting on the scar tape, a lot of the achiness & soreness in my armpits & boobs had lessened significantly. However, last night both my boobs started aching in the underboob areas. So...Mr. suggested I get some compression going across my chest. Since my sports bras are just not tight enough, I fashioned a vest with some ace bandages. OMG my under-boob pain went from like a 6 to a 3 almost immediately. AND for some reason, I have ZERO armpit soreness now (dont know if its related or just a coincidence) I heart compression. Here is my new look (arm garment + sports bra + ace bandages + abdominal binder). I'm calling it mummy-chic. Now I want to get some leg compression socks...
  4. Does it have the texture of Haloomi?
  5. @Arabesque thanks for the recipe! I'm making these tomorrow sans the oats cuz I'm a little carb-phobic, LOL

    The Maintenance Thread

I was wondering where you were...hadn't seen/read you around much. Happy that you are well and going strong! Here's to crushing some fitness goals! 😘 P.S. You know, full disclosure: since the beginning of my involvement in this forum over a year ago, you quickly became one of the folks on here I aspire to emulate...so hopefully I will be following in your footsteps and cross the line over to being fitness-centric as well in the near future ❤️

    Thermage anyone?

K, here is my contribution to the conversation: 1) During and immediately after the weight loss, my neck was in serious turkey territory. At the time it was my number one priority for plastics. But over about 3-4 months after I stopped losing weight, my neck is significantly less gobble-gobbley. I've done nothing to it except maybe massage it every morning and night when applying my moisturizer. It is still not the best, but it is much better than before. And I'm 47 so my snap-back-young-skin days are behind me. Sooooo for those still in weight loss or just finishing, give it some time and you may see some improvement later on. 2) In the summer of 2018 (before WLS), I started a round of IPL and Laser to remove my freckles. First it totally works, and second, it had the bonus side effect of reducing the appearance of lines at the side of my eyes, between my eyebrows and to a lesser extend my nasolabial folds. I believe it has to do with the whole encouraging collegen growth. However, now with all the weight loss (and I haven't gone again since surgery), my wrinkles are back plus some. I paid $1000 CAD for 6 sessions. Sooooo, I can attest to the validity of IPL and Laser to address fine wrinkles, from personal experience (I dunno about RF though). 3) I think that no amount of-non surgical options will give the result of addressing nasolabial folds & neck sagging with any a degree of high effectiveness or permanence. With the exception of botox/fillers which have results, but not the permanence (and can actually cost you more in the long run). And I'm not sure botox/fillers would address neck sag? Anyway, that's my brain dump for y'all this morning. With that said, I already have a face lift to address neck & my NL folds (and maaaaabye a butt lift) on my wish list this year...but I dunno, I am sort of sick of surgery.

    Daily Menus for Maintenance

Yesterday Wednesday, Jan 22 Maintenance : 5'2" / 1.25 yr PO Sleeve / 114.8 lbs ---------------------------------------- It was getting harder to NOT engage in evening snacking last night. I had a good 5-10 minute inner conversation with myself about the harmlessness of eating ONE ginger molasses cookie. After drinking a cup of tea and finding myself still thinking about that darn cookie, I decided to just go upstairs and put some physical distance between me and said cookie and go to bed. It worked, LOL. Plus I got a really good night's sleep 😎 I am sitting in the kitchen now with those cookies in my line of sight, and I don't really care for them vs. last night. I'd rather be enjoying my tea. Which I am. My scale says I got under 115 this morning. Now I know this is mostly water weight so I am going to have to sustain sub 115 for at least a week for it to really count. ---------------------------------------- 9:30pm - 1 black coffee w/ stevia + 1 skinny tea latte 2:00pm - 1 skinny tea latte + salad w/ vinaigrette + 1/2 oz avocado + 1 tbsp sour cream + 1/2 tbsp salsa + 1/8 cup taco meat filling (ground beef, red onions, jalapeño peppers) + 4 oz pan fried/roasted duck breast 7:00pm - 1 skinny tea latte + salad w/ vinaigrette+ carrots + cucumber + 1 oz avocado + 2.5 tbsp sour cream + 2 tbsp salsa + 1/3 cup taco meat filling + 2.5 oz pan fried/roasted duck breast ---------------------------------------- Totals: 649 cals - 43g Protein - 12g NET carbs - 45g fat
  9. Yay, Sophie, I was thinking about you yesterday...glad to see you are doing well! BTW, you look way to chipper in that last photo for someone who just had surgery, LOL. And I am amazed at how straight you are able to stand! Although I suppose fleur-de-lis has a vertical incision which wouldn't hunch you down as much?...you are fortunate that you will be spared the back pain! Looking forward to reading about your progress 💜

    Daily Menus for Maintenance

For past 2 days, I purposefully didn't eat until 2 or 3 pm, and that part was relatively easy cuz I am not normally hungry in the morning anyway, and I just went out to shop or do errands to keep me busy until mid-afternoon when I would get home to eat my first meal. My restriction stops me from overeating, and I made sure not to eat junk (I tell myself that I can have some junk later after I lose a couple lbs, lol) The more challenging part was in the evening. I said I wouldn't eat past 7. When I felt like I wanted to eat, I drank something instead (which means I probably wasn't really hungry, just snacky). So was I hungry? I don't think so. I wasn't full either, though. Just satisfied, I guess. Edited to Add: With that said though, I will not be able to sustain this way of eating long term. I'm just doing this temporarily to get down to a happier happy-place, lol.

    🎈 Pity Party🎈

Sadly, I am not skilled in this way...I'd have to pay someone to do it, and adding the cost of that to the dress just doesn't make it worth it anymore. I returned the dresses and went shoe shopping to fill the void. I found these suede green babies and put them on hold for later cuz I was emotional-shopping and need to decide if I really want them when I'm less irritated...

    🎈 Pity Party🎈

The pity party continues... I went dress shopping yesterday to ease my pain of not being able to wear pants comfortably yet and ended up coming home with 3 dresses...all of which I am returning cuz after modelling them to the Kid, she pointed out they are too big. I was so excited at the store trying them on because my tummy didn't look huge (to me) in them, that I failed to notice they were to kinda big in other places. Duh. I am returning them this afternoon and am very sad because I know they didn't have any of these in smaller sizes. Whaaa.

    breadBREADbreadBREADbreeeaaadd

Ah popcorn. I have been known to get a couple handfuls from my date at the movies on occasion. Though the last time I had popcorn, it was of the caramel kind and I missed about 30 mins of the movie cuz I had to do my dumping business in the washroom. 🙄

    My Plastic Surgery Thread

@sillykitty, glad to hear that your healing is progressing...may not be as quickly as you wanted, but it is progress, right?? (I feel you about this though, I continue to be bummed with my preggo-belly too ). Have you thought about facelifts vs. botox/fillers? I was doing a comparison, and latter may actually come up to be more expensive in the long run (and take up more time overall with the multiple maintenance visits)... Also have you had your Big Important Meeting yet? What did you/are you planning to wear????

From what I recall from a pic you posted at the hospital, you have like awesome Rapunzel-length hair, yes? You could probably afford to cut off just a little bit, lol (so it doesn't look like you have split ends)

    Daily Menus for Maintenance

Yesterday Monday, Jan 20 Maintenance : 5'2" / 1yr PO Sleeve / 116.9 lbs ---------------------------------------- I've RE-realized that when I eat only when I am hungry, I don't eat much. Employed this only-eat-if-hungry-and-just-to-satisfaction method yesterday and it brought back weight loss memories, as well as highlighted to me that I've been eating a lot lately with NON-hunger based intentions. Also, I got under 117lbs this morning (thanks poop!), but am feeling like I want to get to sub 115lbs...we'll see. ---------------------------------------- 9:00pm - 1 black coffee w/ stevia + 1 skinny tea latte 3:00pm - salad w/ vinaigrette + carrots + cucumber + green bell peppers + 4.5 oz peameal bacon + 1 tsp horseradish mustard + 1oz cashews + 8:00pm - 3/4 cup cottage cheese + 1/2 fl oz pumpkin seeds + 1 oz blueberries + 1.5 oz apple and stuffing stuffed pork loin ---------------------------------------- Totals: 614 cals - 53g Protein - 30g NET carbs - 29g fat

HOLY CRAP. There is no appropriate emjoi for your post!!! Glad you are ok! The smell must have been HORRIBLE. Hair on fire is like one of my biggest nightmares (that and getting eaten by sharks or stung by a swarm of bees) Did you cut it afterwards? (the hair, I mean)

@shanza ... did you lose weight since your last postings? you look supermodel tall and slim in this pic! P.S...I have been guilty of leaving the door open when I'm in washroom too...now I think I will make sure to close it every single time...LOLOLOLOLOLzzzzz
  23. Funny, when I read the original post, it totally looked like those were the ingredients based on the picture. Though taking a second look, I see that first pic had the title of your mcMuffinless...lol

    🎈 Pity Party🎈

Ok, I know this is a pity party, and we are not looking for solutions, just a place to vent, but the fixer in me can't help it: I have a home machine that I regularly check my BP on. And whenever I go to a drugstore or supermarket, I go test myself at those BP machines they have (I actually love them like kids like those old coin operated rides, lol). Anyhoo, I notice that whenever I get my blood pressure taken with a doc/nurse/technician in some "professional" setting, more often than not, the BP higher than when I take elsewhere. My doc attributes this to nerves, and will often take a second reading at the end of the appt, which, more often than not, will be lower than the first reading.
  25. @Stella S ...been wondering about the thigh lift...are your scars visible when you are standing "normally"? How about when you cross your legs?
