Your Dr.'s goal weight/BMI for you?
ms.sss replied to loridee11's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Unless you are a super athlete or heavy power lifter, your muscle mass will not be much of a factor (or at least very minimally). If you are talking muscle or fat PERCENTAGE, then thats a bit of a different story, but again has little to do with determining goal or target weight (unless you are an athlete) One’s body fat percentage will of course go down as you lose weight, and conversely your lean body mass percentage will go up. Case in point: prior to weight loss, my body fat percentage was at about 40-45% (at 235 lbs). At around goal, fat percentage was down to about 12-15%. Then after PS, even though Im still more or less the same weight, my body fat percentage is now about 20-22%. Which is why, as Im typing this actually, weight on the scale is probably not the best stick to measure by. Probably a tape measure on your body parts, or how your clothes fit is a better indicator? P.S. I am not a doctor nor presume to present myself as any type of expert on body composition...just sharing a perspective ❤️ -
I consider/considered myself to have thick legs as well (even when I was not obese). First pic is just before WLS, second pic is more or less at goal weight. Last pic is after a tummy tuck. The weight loss did make my legs smaller overall, but I still have thicker than “normal” calves for my size (which I always had, anyway) as well as some skin-drapiness in the upper thighs. The tummy tuck, however, had an unexpected side benefit of smoothing my thighs out some as they yanked the skin upwards. If you are younger and have good genes, you will likely fare much better.

Coughing and belching
ms.sss replied to vanessa.0419's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It’s most likely gas this early on. I did an insane amount of burping the first few weeks (no coughing, though). I may be wrong, or could just me my own personal experience, but I think burping is par for the course, especially for sleevers (were u sleeved?). The nature of the surgery results in higher than normal pressure build up in there, which can result in lotsa burping (or lots of release out the other end, lol). I am almost 2 years out and I still burp like a teenage boy. Not as much as the early weeks, but enough to consider it alot. P.S. I still take PPI’s every other day. -
Its not just the mosquitoes...i find you delicious myself...lololololzzz

ding ding.... and we have a winner. I was wondering when you'd pull that one out. Only took a few posts. I knew you had it in ya and you didn't disappoint I wish you made a different response to GT’s picture. Even if you thought you were making a joke 😢.

BBQ Feast! BBQ Brisket (à la Instant-Pot then finished in the oven), warm German potato salad (with BACON vinaigrette!!), grilled corn & garlic bread. You don’t see all of it, but the entire brisket was almost 6 lbs. Gonna be leftovers for days... I ate 75g of the brisket, 1/4 of a corn cob, and (oh my) a spoonful of the potato salad with a generous amount of bacon bits. This was probably the first time I’ve had potatoes on purpose since surgery, and it was meh...I really just wanted a taste if the bacon vinaigrette (which was DELICIOUS). 398 calories. P.S. Mr. was in charge of frying up the bacon and he didn’t cook it for long enough, nor at a high enough heat, hence the unappetizing pasty colour to them 🙄 -
Things I won't miss about being fat!

Lol, that still happens to me now! -
Any foods that still ( or recently ) make you sick ?
ms.sss replied to BriarRose's topic in WLS Veteran's Forum
Excess sugar gets me almost every time (especially on an empty stomach) -

Sweating (I’m perfectly climate-controlled now). Hiding from cameras (I loooove getting my pic taken, like ALL. THE. TIME.) Snoring (I dont notice this, but Mr. is quite happy) Packing a sh*t-ton of clothes whenever I leave the house for vacation or a day trip (Now, everything I need fits in my purse) Being tired/winded at the tiniest exertion (I’ve got energy for DAYS) Feeling shy/uncomfortable/self-conscious (i have so much confidence now its quite disgusting) -

Well, to put it simply, I just try to do what I did during weight loss phase, just at a higher calorie and macro count. Similar to what @GreenTealael said, I’m not always perfect, but generally stay the course for the most part. If I notice things heading in an undesired direction, I’ll adjust. -
Viking! Haven’t seen a post from u in a while...glad to see/read you Hope all is well...

BAO buns: Its a steamed, yeast-leavened bread (of chinese origin). There are other versions from other cultures under different names. It’s very soft/spongy and fluffy, and totally delicious. Though I haven’t actually eaten any since surgery, the fam loves it. I can’t think of a similar Western bread to compare to though...maybe someone out there could give an example? -

You could probably pick up a ready made one somewhere, but its better to make your own to tailor to your taste. And yeah, you can skip the oyster sauce (though it helps to thicken it a bit so it clings better to the tofu...maybe sub with a bit of cornstarch or xanthum gum) -

This is one of our go-to tofu snacks, just plain steamed tofu with soy-sesame-oyster sauce-garlic-black vinegar-sweetener and garnish (black & white sesame seeds & green onion) Have also done Kung Pao, Soy-Maple, Black pepper, soy-sirracha, Buffalo... -

Meatballs?! More like burgers! Those things are deliciously massive! ....and the tofu and pork is mouth-watering...now I have to go make tofu. Why do you do this to me?!?! LOL -
I hear ya. My alcohol consumption had increased dramatically since March, which also happened to coincide with my early-covid weight gain.

You look fabulous! Congratulations! Btw, if those are size 34's you are wearing, they are too big, you could go down a couple sizes 😎 P.S. Nice catch!

Jezus. Have you not learned anything at all from your last disastrous “Stop Making Excuses” thread? I get you have limited experience in social situations, but damn, brother, take the effing time to gain some and learn from it. I’m sorry, honestly, because I really do live to give people the benefit of the doubt, but with you, I oscillate between feeling terribly sorry for you and wanting to barf. Please, try and do better.

Duck Breast Bao (I was too lazy to try to Peking it tonight...next time, I guess) I ate 100g of just the Duck Breast with 2 tbsp of the sesame-ginger-garlic sauce: 282 calories. -
