    Clothes!

I never got rid of my old clothes so I just took them down from the high shelf every few weeks (I did buy some clothes at around 2 months post op, but quickly realized that it was not worth it as I outgrew/outshrunk them in a couple weeks). Only when I ran out of my old "fat clothes" did I start buying new stuff (but now alot of those clothes are too big 🙄 ) Belts are your friend. As are hand-me-downs, lol. P.S. But I get the allure of getting a new outfit. So I say its totally fine to splurge on something that makes you feel fabulous (even if you only get to wear it for a couple weeks). Good Luck!
  2. Soooo excited to eat this (i heart salad). Romaine, carrots, cucumber, cherry tomatoes (from our backyard!), feta cheese, grilled chicken breast): 220 calories
  3. OMG, I was a notoriously slow eater..I took well about an hour to an hour and a half to eat a meal for the better part of the first year post-op. I learned I had to eat slowly because my “full” limit sneaks up pretty fast and if didn’t eat slowly I’d be past over-full and need to barf. Now, I guess I’m still a pretty slow eater compared to others around me, but its not so ridiculous now. I take maybe 40-45 mins to finish a meal now. P.S. The bulk of my mealtimes is made up more of “waiting”’ than actual eating/chewing. I tend to wait long between bites. And again, this to make sure that the next bite (should I choose to accept it, lol) will not put me over the over-fill line.
  4. Did someone say shortbread?! AND low-carb?!? More details pls: was it comparable to hones-to-goodness shortbreads? I have yet to come across a keto/low-carb recipe that can stand up to my high dessert standards, lol. Looks really good though! #yummmmmer

    OOTD

Lol, im not a big fan of colognes/perfumes...but I love the smell of just regular soap and shampoo on people 😂
  6. I guess it depends on how one defines “honeymoon”. This will be different for everyone. For me, I think of the honeymoon period as a the time when eating very, very little calories took very minimal effort (again how one defines “effort” will vary from person to person). Based on my own personal definition, my honeymoon probably lasted about 15 months. These days (1 yr, 10mnths), I have to be much more mindful of what I’m eating & burning off, cuz if I dont pay attention I’ll likely gain weight.
  7. Lol..i just bought a watermelon this morning! i make a fam fave with it: cubed watermelon, blueberries, mint & feta cheese, with some lime juice & lime zest #yum
  8. Sounds like it was yum! ...and welcome to the thread! We looove food pics. (the food photography gets addictive..I probably cook/bake more so for taking a picture of it, than to feed them fam, lol)
  9. Imagine a bacon and cheese sandwich and then sub the bun with two pieces of breaded chicken instead. I’ve never had one myself (never really appealed to me, even pre-surgery), but I’ve seen it advertised.
  10. I had the sleeve done and went from a BMI 43 to BMI 21 in about 7 months. But honestly, for the most part, the success (or non-success) of weight loss has a lot more to with the person vs. the type of surgery chosen. Stick to your plan (and barring any complications), we all end up in the same place. Lapband has been falling out of favour, but yes, there are still surgeons who perform them, and alot of their patients have found success with them (and others who have not). The one thing about lapband though is that the device itself can truly fail (in the sense that it slips), while with the others (vsg, rny, ds, etc.) rarely fail, it is likely more the individual that that failed the tool. As far as sleeve goes, I also +1 all the other posters who say that if you even have a hint of GERD, or reflux, pre-surgery, it’s probably in your best interest to forego this type of surgery and go another route. I had ZERO reflux issues, and since surgery I’ve been on PPI’s. I’ve been trying (again and again) to wean myself off if them, but no luck so far. i take 30mg every other day. I’m lucky that it is controlled by medication, but I’ve read many of others who are not. With that said, however, I’m still extremely satisfied with my sleeve results (reflux or not). In the end, go with your gut. You may very well not exacerbate your occasional reflux. And even if you do, there is always a revision. But do discuss with your surgeon. Good Luck!
  11. Ugh. So I just made the most delicious almost zero-carb pasta carbonara and totally forgot to take a picture of it. I ate it all, so no evidence at all! Anyhoo it was: 1/2 package shiratake noodles, 1 slice of bacon, 1 egg & some parm cheese (and black pepper). Fry up the cut up bacon until crispy, add shiratake noodles to pan and toss to coat. Remove from heat, add beated egg & parm and toss as heat of noodles will cook the egg until creamy. Season with pepper, Enjoy! #soooooEasy 164 calories.

Tmi . Does your private area smell stronger?

I struggled with mild to moderate odour probs PRE surgery already. Regular washing/drying and changing my underwear 1-3 times a day helped. The first months or so AFTER surgery it got pretty stinky, lol. Like @Arabesque mentioned above, I figured it was Ketosis. I don’t remember when it went away (maybe 2-3 months post op?). Since then I’ve been fresh like a daisy. Give it a few more weeks, and if it really starts to stank, try sitting in a warm bath with 2 cups of apple cider vinegar for like 15-20 mins. I didn’t submerge my whole body though (but you can if u like!), i just filled the tub high enough to reach my va-jay-jay and sat in it. Good Luck!

    Anyone not into milk products?

While I don’t stay away from milk & milk products, I should. I was lactose intolerant pre-surgey and it seemed to get worse after. But whatever, I deal, lol. With that said, I used lactose-free Protein powders MIXED WITH PLAIN WATER and a couple teaspoons of instant decaf coffee crystals...went down (and out!) fine 😁 Though lactose-free doesn’t mean there is no dairy, it may stop that gummy feeling. Good Luck!
  14. I’m currently going through a Mexican Street Corn phase myself and made an easy batch of crema for the endless amount of corn I’ve been grilling: sour cream + lime zest + crumbled feta (add a tiny bit if mayo if the sour cream is too watery) Also eat it with raw veggies, with grilled meats, etc... #yum
  15. There are chocolate bars in the pantry that are calling out my name... Figured I’d go a little healthier instead: 1/2 cup cottage cheese w/ seasonings (black pepper, garlic salt, cayenne) + 35g frozen seedless grapes + 20g frozen blueberries + 1/2 fl oz pumpkin seeds: 176 calories.
  16. Ok...so this is what my surgeon said about drain-less tummy tucks (or any type of surgery for that matter). According to him, generally, the thinner/smaller the person is prior to surgery, the better the candidate for a drain-less surgery (not to say that bigger people are NOT good candidates, though, just that there would be less fluid build up in a smaller person). He elected to put 2 drains in me because he did a little lipo in the flank area (why lipo influenced his decision to put in drains, I don’t know, I didn’t ask). He also told me I would likely not need the drains in so very long due to my size. He was right, by Day 1 at home (Day 3 post op) my little fluid collectors were basically empty. He took them out at my next scheduled appt (Day 5 post op). Of course there are lots of surgeons out there who do drain-less TT’s in everyone, regardless of size, and have fabulous results...this was just my surgeon’s preference. Sorry you had the sh*tty complications . But im glad that you’ve put it behind you and are now properly rocking your bod ❤️

    HAIR LOSS!!! UGH!!!

I lost alot of hair starting around the 3-4 month mark. I cut it pixie-short to reduce the carpets of hair that would accumulate on my bathroom floor. At around the 7 month mark (around the same time I stopped the “rapid” weight loss) Little chicken hairs started to sprout. Now, I’m almost 2 years out, and all those chicken hairs are now about the same length as my regular hair (about chin length), and the fullness of my hair is the same as pre-surgery. So yeah, it sucks to lose some hair, and is unavoidable for most. But again, in time it will grow back. Good Luck!
  21. So I stop when I feel “full”, OR whenever I finish my portion, which ever comes first...though 95% of the time, the “full feeling” comes first. This feeling of fullness is not the same as pre-surgery however. Instead of the the feeling of space being used up all over my my body, it is now a pressure in a small section of my chest (the more I eat, the stronger the pressure). It’s been a while, but I remember pre-surgery fullness somehow feeling more “satisfying” than this chest-pressure. Which is probably why I don’t care to stuff myself these days and just prefer to have a taste of things. I also want to note that there are times that I actually feel “stuffed” (when I had one too many bites of something or other, or if I eat too fast). But this stuffed feeling I equate to pain and the only relief is to barf, so I try my best to avoid getting to that point in the first place... Edited to add: Also, at almost 2 years out (1yr, 10mnths), I do actually feel hungry sometimes...but it doesn’t take much to make the hungry go away)
  22. 😋😋😋😋😋😋 🤤🤤🤤🤤🤤🤤 ...sooooo gooooooooood....

I’ve always wanted??!! What are yours?

OMG OMG, now YOU get out of MY brain! I loooove to sing (just try to get the mic out of my hands at karaoke, i DARE you). Like most however, my voice is not something one would pay money to hear...but what I lack in talent, I make up for in enthusiasm. OK. So now we gotta go source some contractors to build a house on the beach with a recording studio where we can start a band and take turns being the lead singer and back up dancer! The only thing I need to decide is if I wanna be an awesome pianist or an awesome guitar player (electric AND acoustic, mind you.)...oh wait, I could take up the drums too! 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

    Period

Just the fact that I even got my period was a surprise. I hadn’t had it in MONTHS prior to surgery, and only a handful of times 2-3 years before that. It lasted over a week (when it only used to last 4-ish days when I did get it). Since then, it’s come like clockwork every single month (almost 2 years now post-op). I guess I wasn’t pre-menopausal after all...just overweight 🙄
  25. Slim pickings if my fridge/panty this morning (i reaaaaaally need to go grocery shopping!) Hard boiled egg with seasonings, 2 slices if bacon & 2 yellow plums: 212 calories. Ate it all. (Sorry, not very exciting...)
