    OOTD

Heading out to an outdoor viewing party for tonight’s Raptors game. Hopefully the threat of rain stays away...but got my raincoat on just in case. I think the jacket looks better closed, but it’s way more comfy open...

  3. I went to my first party 3 weeks post op. I didn’t eat anything (I brought a protein shake with me that I took a few sips of, though). Friends and fam kept offering me food, but I just said no thanks each time. After a while they gave up. I had to endure this for many parties/get-togethers afterwards, and after maybe 6 months most were pretty much used to me not eating much and the badgering almost completely stopped. It is annoying while it happens, but eventually others get used to your new “normal” and leave you alone *fingers crossed* Good Luck!

    Dumping

What does it feel like? Well, for me, my heart races, I get super tired/weak, I may barf, or have runs (or both)....basically felt like death (for me). It was always because of sugar and in the early days, the death feelings lasted a more than a couple hours. Now (almost 2 years out), I still get the dumpies, but not as often nor as strong as before (AND i eat way more sugar now than back then). Not everyone dumps, though. P.S. I was sleeved.
  5. It *may* be a bit relevant in the sense that had you NOT lost those 90 lbs pre-surgery, your post-surgery weight loss rate would likely be higher/faster. But dude, congrats on the massive loss!!! You are doing GREAT! ❤️
  6. Mandatory Disclaimer: Everyone loses at different rates! Keep in mind people's starting weight, how much they lost prior to surgery, height, age and gender. Starting weight: 235 (BMI 43.0) Surgery date weight (after 2wk pre-op diet): 223.2 After 7 months of weight loss phase: 127 (BMI 23.2) Sooo…including the 2wk pre-op diet, that would be 108 lbs lost over 7.5 months giving a monthly average weight loss of 14.4 lbs per month. Edited to add: I lost a few more pounds unintentionally during maintenance, gained a few back, and currently sit around 115-117 (BMI 21-21.4). I’ll be 2 years out next month. I'm 5'2".
  7. I didn’t tell anyone except Mr., my daughter, my mom and my BFF. All of whom I know are not ones to discuss my business with anyone else if I asked them not to. For everyone else, I just didn’t/don’t have the comfort level to discuss my WLS, and told them I my eating habits and exercise regimen changed. For the first 6 months or so, it really did get quite annoying how all conversations I had with others who knew me as obese seemed to always centre around my weight. I just said thanks, or gave my standard answer and tried to steer the conversation about them. Most times this worked to get the attention off me. Other times, not so much. At around the 1 year mark, me and my weight became old news and MOST interactions with others were happily non-weight related. At almost 2 years out today, I may still get the occasional question or comment about my weight by those I haven’t seen in a while, and I still give the standard answer. In short, the further out you are and the more people get used to seeing you smaller, the less curiosity from them you will encounter. Yeah, it’s annoying, but it’s only temporary ❤️

    Though times

It gets better. In the first 2 weeks after surgery, I barely took in any calories. I was lucky if I could finish 1/4 of a serving of protein shake in a DAY (with nothing else). I wasn’t hungry and the thought of eating/drinking anything other than warm water make me want to yak. By end of week 3 it got better, and slowly got even better from there. Try to hang in there, its really just a small blip of annoyance in the grand scheme of things...and you get to drop some serious poundage in the process (which hopefully you will be super grateful for later) ❤️ Good Luck!
  9. Im almost 2 years out and I still burp as often (and sometimes as loudly) as a teenage boy. I burp a liiiiitle bit less than before, but still quite alot (compared to pre-surgery). More after I eat/drink, but still even on an empty stomach. P.S. I had the sleeve, though.
  10. I suffer from serious FOMO with all this Aldi talk!! When pandemic is over I’m going to have to make the drive to Buffalo and see what all the fuss is about!!!
  11. Omg. Can i get an invite to your next cookout?!?!?!
  12. Leftovers from dinner last night: mixed greens and 2oz seared ahi tuna. I added 2oz of carrots and drizzled some my own low-cal vinaigrette on it (i didnt like the dressing they served with it in the side yesterday, so just tossed it). Plan on eating it all: 131 calories. Aside: is it just me or do you all ask for everything (sauces/gravies/dressings) on the side too??

Was out for dinner and it started to downpour so had to cut the night short 😢 (On the bright side, got home just in time to watch OG sink a buzzer beating 3 pointer to win the game!!! Go Raps Go!)

Looks like you have very trim legs...you can go even tighter with the pants! Maybe even a nice mini skirt/dress????

I actually count and EIGHT pack, lol
  18. Was jonesing for some bacon since I didn’t get to have any at yesterday’s brunch. So my dinner tonight was, yup, BACON! Ate 6 pieces. Logged it as 120 calories (figured each piece was half a bacon slice...)
  19. Went to a brunch buffet earlier (i was out-voted, i really don’t like buffets 😢). The selection was way too carb-y for me so I stuck to fruit carbs. Ate everything on the plate, and about 1/3 of the fruit bowl. Drank the entire Mimosa (plus a vodka caesar later), and a couple sips each of the other juices. I would’ve eaten my weight in bacon but it looked too oily for me Meh - the mimosa was good at least (though you can’t really eff those up).
  20. @WishMeSmaller: happy belated birthday 🎂!!
  21. Thanks for the tip! If I get my hands on some SF jello I’ll try it out. P.S. All my grapes are frozen at the moment...they were on sale a couple weeks ago and I bought a ton 🤣
  22. Morning snack: cherry tomatoes from our “garden” (not really a garden, really just various potted plants on our deck, lol). I ate ten: 30 calories
  23. My home version of a mini charcuterie board, lol. Artisan prosciutto, aged white cheddar and frozen red grapes: 209 calories. Ate it all (surprisingly quickly!)
