How long did you deal with head hunger post op?
ms.sss replied to Horseshowmom's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yep, 2 years out and I still get it sometimes...though I always called them cravings (which I suppose is the same thing?) Am pretty sure everyone feels this at some point (some more than others) wls or not, big or small. Main diff is how I deal with them now vs pre-wls. -
Well, duh. I was under the impression Nevada was all deserts and stuff. Obviously my knowledge of U.S. climates leaves much to be desired (apologies to Mr. Tanner, my 10th grade Geography teacher!) And yeah, u need that jacket more than I do, it was 15C / 59F here yesterday! Penis Cap. Lololololzzz

So i was all excited to find out if being wet made any difference on the scale. Womp-womp, it does not. Was a very anticlimactic moment.

Ok, you got my attention. Crispy? or Chewy? -
get in line, lady! Although, I would be willing to give you my spot in line to borrow/take the other black top @Arabesque got at the Witching (Witchcraft? Witchery? I KNOW I'm getting the name wrong, but close enough, i think) store. Is it bad that I have mentally catalogued her closet???

Yay Size Tens!!! (you could probably go smaller, though ) I am loving your jacket (the colour!), but is it cold enough to need it in Nevada? Because its plenty cold here and I could use a nice-wine coloured jacket to add my wardrobe. P.S. If that is your definition of chaos, I'd hate to show you my office!

What % of excess weight have you lost & in how long?
ms.sss replied to Kam-R's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
K, so both me and my surgeon calculated excess weight using the BMI 25 baseline. He (and online literature) told me statistically sleeve patients on average lose 60-70% of their excess weight, and this would be considered a successful result. I'm 5'2", and 60-70% excess weight for me calculates at a 65lb loss. 100% excess weight would have been 99 lbs. I lost a total of 120 (i did lose more if you count my lowest weight about a year ago, but that didn't last long) So to answer your original question about how much excess weight folks have lost in stages, here are my stats, percentages displayed as cumulative: Note that everyone's results will differ greatly, as we are all so different! during 2 week pre-op: 12% 1 month: 34% 3 months: 64% 6 months: 98% 7 months (stopped trying to lose): 107% today (2+ years post op): 119% As mentioned, there was a point almost a year ago that I was at 128% excess weight lost, but that didn't last long and it was just after I had plastics and wasn't eating, so....yeah. I've basically maintained 119% excess weight lost (give or take a couple percentage points) for about 18 months. So far so good...but we'll see what the next couple years will be like... -

ms.sss replied to GreenTealael's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
So today was another donβt-feel-like-eating day until tonight when Mr made pasta for dinner that I had no interest in and so pulled these out if the pantry to eat at the table. I ended up eating a ridiculous amount (1.75 cups!) over about 2 hours of these unbelievably delicious mushroom βchipsβ. I think these may just be my kryptonite and the eventual death of me. 420 calories for 1.75 cups...but oh, sooooo good. I need to figure out how to make these in a lower-cal version... I realize my diet hasnβt been the greatest/healthiest the past several weeks. I blame the lettuce shortage. -

I think you may be right. I suppose I was more often than not a bottomless less pit pre-wls. This lettuce wrap look DELICIOUS (so does ur steak stir fry, but freshness look of the wrap is calling me tonight...yum) -
I have the Withings Body+ scale (in white, matches my bathroom, lol): https://www.withings.com/ca/en/body-plus Its a little on the pricey side, though. But there are lots other smart scales out there with wifi/Bluetooth connectivity for alot less...

What % of excess weight have you lost & in how long?
ms.sss replied to Kam-R's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Hi! Congrats on your weight loss this far! βExcess weightβ may be calculated differently from person to person. Some use normal BMI of 25 as a baseline, others may use a personal goal weight. How do YOU calculate excess weight? -
Yep. A crazy (and loud!) amount the first few months post-op, but now (after 2 yrs) itβs quieted down some. Before it felt like all day long every day, but now maybe once or twice a day. I havenβt bothered to form/notice any correlation with the frequency/decibel level of the noise with my eating/drinking habits though...maybe i should... p.s. it just gurgled as i typed this. π

Hi! I'm on team weigh-every-day. Every morning when I get up, I pee, take off all my clothes and get on the scale. I'm a numbers and data kind of gal and I like (love, really) keeping track of progress over time...my scale is hooked up to an app on my phone, so all the graphing, etc. is done for me. This allows me to see any trends in weight loss/gain and make adjustments if necessary. I've been doing this for over 2 years now. (I did go through about a 60 day period when I DIDN'T do it daily, AND stopped tracking my food regularly, around Febuary-March of this year, and lo and behold, I gained 6 lbs) I understand though, that this is not for everybody. Its probably best to use the scale as often as you can stand without inducing anxiety. This will be different for everybody.

K, curiosity got the best of me, so I measured my elbow: 2 inches. Yep, still a small frame! P.S. im one of those people who dropped shoe size (went from roughly a 7.5 to a 6). I also dropped almost 1 inch in height!! Weird.

2 years out and I can still forget to eat sometimes! Itβs almost 4pm, and while I dont really feel hungry, I put this salad together to get something in my tummy so I am not ravenous when I finally do feel hungry and overeat/eat too fast. Chicken, shredded cabbage, carrots, cucumbers and vinaigrette: 158 calories. Didnβt enjoy this salad as much as I normally do cuz it just felt like work to eat it. Will try again with the leftovers later. -

So off topic a little bit....I always thought (assumed) I had a "large frame" based on wrist measurements (I never measured my wrist when I wasn't obese, so I had no point of reference). At 5'2", my wrist had measured almost 6.75 inches. After I lost the weight, turns out I have a small frame....my wrist measures just a little under 5.25 inches now. Guess I just had alot of fat on my wrists!

Ok, so we have pretty similar starting stats (along with @mae7365, lol) Mandatory Disclaimer: everyone loses at different rates, based on a whole myraid of reasons, and one's success is NOT determined by the results of another. Further, how much, or how fast, one loses weight is a poor indicator of long term weight-keeping-off-ing (I can't think of a better word here, lol). With that said: I am 5'2" and was 235 lbs 2 weeks before surgery. I was on blood pressure meds, cholesterol meds, and was borderline diabetic for a few years too. My doc tried to manage my expectations by telling me that it would be considered a success if I lost 65 lbs, which would have got me to a BMI of 31.1, and hopefully get off my medication. I had other ideas, and wanted to get down to below a BMI of 25, which for my height calculated at a goal of 136 lbs (i.e., lose 99 lbs): Lost the doc's expectation of 65lbs by 3 months post-op (and was off all meds) Lost my own personal (1st) goal of 99lbs by 6 months post-op I am now a little over 2 years post-op and weigh 115-120 lbs (BMI 21-21.9) I think its too early to tell if I can maintain this weight range for the longer-longer-longer term...but so far so good-ish. Good Luck β€οΈ
