Ok this is amazing! Woohoo! I am so happy for you!! We have been soooo busy lately... moved over to cherry street, grandkids and kids birthdays, school, work plus filling in for sick coworkers.... just soooo busy. I am about to update my lil info thingy... I have lost exactly 70 pounds now and will be breaking into the 200's in 3 pounds lol. I wish it would hurry! We are both doing well and I am happy for us. I am soooo gonna get on the waist trainer thing for sure!

My blood sugar dropped to 70s in hospital so surgeon took me off metformin for good when I was released. It's amazing to no longer be diabetic. Sent from my SM-N950U using BariatricPal mobile app

I needed to celebrate with someone who understands how great this feels! I weighed today and I have lost 52 pounds since the start of my liquid diet 7 weeks ago! I have so much weight to lose but seriously, its incredible that I have lost 52 pounds in 7 weeks! I will be taking pics again on the 29th to see if I can see the difference... but the last pic I took was on 10/29, the day of my surgery. So I wanna keep it close lol. I am so grateful to life and my doctors and you guys and myself for this surgery. I still have a long way to go but I already feel the wonderful benefits of a 52 pound weight loss!

Oh thank you so much!!! Lol, I am nearly in tears being so emotional and happy about this! Thank you!

Sense of Taste Changed hurting the cooks feelings
FlyAwayFree replied to AFVet's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Ok so I am not the only one! I tried a bit of cookie and omg I had to spit it out! It was terrible. I tried a bite of hubby's cheesecake Tuesday and had to spit it out again lol.... and cheesecake was always my favorite. So gross now. To be fair, I don't really like any food like I did before... which makes me happy really lol. Except eggs, I could totally eat eggs pretty much every day! -
How did your family and friends react?
FlyAwayFree replied to Queenbee34's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I went into this without telling anyone but my hubby, adult children, and a few trusted friends. And I am very glad. Everyone in my life that knows is super supportive and loves me no matter what. No one griped about my weight before and everyone is just happy I am happy now. I am almost 6 weeks out from surgery, down 52 pounds, and don't feel like I am keeping any secrets. Lol, I had a female surgery earlier this year and I don't tell anyone about it either, so why would this be any different? It is what it is, a tool. And I LOOOOVE mine! It's not up for debate and I am still the one who has to do the work. I could seriously still eat like crap, its a choice now after surgery, but one made easier because of the surgery. I did this, I did the appointments, the liquid diet, the surgery, the recovery, and now the careful eating. So I don't have a need to share that I had surgery, its not a secret, just a nice tool in my repertoire! I wish you luck and happiness and all the lovely things I am experiencing! -
Oh, here's the link for the one my family has used in Mexico... https://www.tijuanabariatrics.com/cost-and-financing

Oh man this is awful!!! Have you tried Surgical Associates? They have the same surgeons that Bailey does, except they do the surgery at Saint Francis and they have different qualifiers. Dr. Varnell is there too even. I chose Bailey as I worked there awhile back, not because of any other reason. https://www.satulsa.com/main/services/bariatric-surgery/ also, surgery in Mexico is pretty affordable and can be financed. If it doesnt include the flight... Tulsa has Allegiant flights to San Diego for next to nothing... 120 bucks or so round trip with no layovers. You could totally do that too... it was one of the options I also looked into... but for me, since Bailey was free and I had worked there, its just the direction I went. Girl I would recommend this surgery to anyone. I am losing weight awesomely, its pretty easy so far, and I never had a bit of problems with the surgery, pain, tummy issues, nothing. I am not even close to goal weight but I would do this again for sure. Even if I had to go to Mexico to get it done lol. Thats what my exhusband and baby son have done btw and it worked wonderfully for them! No issues at all either. Good luck and I sure do hope you stick around!

Man, my process went so smoothly that I feel terrible for you that yours is being so finicky! Who is your doctor? O'Meara was mine, then Ruby was my nurse practicioner. I would just call their office, or email them, directly. My navigator usually helped me figure out who to call when I had those kinds of questions, but had me contact them not her. If you have your business cards in your binder, they have all the numbers and emails of everyone you have seen so far. Well if you have been putting them in your binder. For my weight loss history, I quite literally filled out their paper with all the crap I have tried or done over the years and it sufficed along with my primary doc outside of Bailey sending over 2 years worth of weights. I had hypertension also, however mine is gone now at 3 weeks postop... my diabetes has disappeared already (in hospital they took me off the metformin) and I am off my bp med after my 2 week followup. I am sure they will qualify you, I just can't imagine that they won't with your doc records showing you DO have a comorbidity. Though I have known people who have actually gained weight just to get their BMI up to qualify at the 45 mark instead of 35. If you need any help or wanna chat, I am here! This WILL happen for you. They always qualify you if you do the work you need to do. I am on your side and cheering you on girly!!!!

Gained 3lbs After Surgery (5 days on clears!)
FlyAwayFree replied to Swanton_Bomb's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am 3 weeks post op, sleeved 10/29. I gained 12 after surgery and about fainted lol. I lost 5 pounds over the next few days and then on day 6 I dropped 6 pounds overnight lol. I have had mostly steady weight loss since other than a 9 day stall right after week one. I am sure my body was just adjusting still. I feel like I am losing pretty rapidly and enjoying the heck out of it. I wish I would lose even faster though lol!! -
I had surgery 10/29 also! I gained a lot during surgery. Went into surgery at 349 and that evening when weighed I was 361 heh. I am 3 weeks and 1 day post op now and now 332. Believe it or not, I lost nearly everything the first week out. By one week out I was down to 340, one day I even lost 6 pounds. Then after the first week, I stalled for 9 days. I didn't lose one single pound. Then last week, bam, I started losing again and so far this week since last Wednesday I have lost 8 more pounds (thats in 6 days). It's amazing and exhilarating, but those 9 days that I didn't lose an ounce were so scary. I just knew I wasnt ever gonna lose anymore. I eat 3 times a day and can eat 3 to 4 oz at a time. I haven't had one single problem since the 3rd day after surgery when I finally stopped throwing up. I feel super lucky and I feel so so so glad and happy that I did this surgery. I hope I continue losing this way, and always worry that I will just stop losing weight before I am at least down to 200. I know better, but my brain wont just knock it off. I have followed my doc orders pretty much but do eat what i would call soft food now a little early instead of just pureed. I drink about 80 to 100 oz of liquids a day and my protein is anywhere from 75 to 100 grams a day. I am getting better at sorting the protein but not perfect yet. My doc said that as long as I drink plenty of fluids, being high on protein occasionally wont be a problem, so I am just trying to get it about right as often as possible (I am recommended to have between 70 and 85 grams). Your stall wont last forever, and I read these forums relentlessly while i was stalled so I wouldnt get too down about it, and I did get pretty down about it but didn't lose hope. And thank goodness I had good weight loss again so hopefully next stall I can ride out without feel so worried lol!! Like you said, we can't go back, only forward, so just try to take your mind off of it, and know that everyone has some pretty big worries during stalls and everyone here has made it through and still lost the weight. I just wanna lose it now lol. And we are all here for you!! I am cheering you on certainly surgery twin! Hugs and hugs and hang in there!

I just had my surgery 10/29. I lost 24 pounds on the liquid diet, and then 17 my first week after surgery. Then nothing. lol, I thought I was gonna be the one this didnt work for, that my stomach was too big, that I was just not able to lose weight. Stayed that way for almost 2 weeks, now blammo, 3 days 6 pounds gone. I am breathing again lol. The weirdest part is that what appears to have triggered the new weight loss is that I have been able to eat about an oz more than I had and it feels perfect and comfortable and honestly really good to eat what feels like a normal amount lol. So basically I feel fabulous eating 3-4oz a meal (about 1/2 cup). My head and mouth seem satisfied along with my stomach! My calories increased by about 75 to 100 (25 to 35 a meal). My fatigue is way better and honestly, I feel amazing! Now that I had my first period of not losing anything for almost 2 weeks, then watching it come off again, I am way less worried. I just needed to come out the other side of it and lose again to be sure I wasn't just gonna already stop losing forever lol! You will really get there and I understand. Its hard to be patient but just keep doing what's recommended and it continues to work! Thank goodness!

Ha, she and my hubby can go eat their faces off while we go play on the beaches!!! Whoooooooeeeeeee! Lol -
Ok so I am officially on pureed foods as of today. I was burned out on creamed soups for sure and the one lil cheat I had when I nibbled a cookie Saturday showed me that sugar tastes like crap now... so lesson learned. So today I had....2oz of cottage cheese which was quite tasty and I wanted to eat more but nothing else was fitting in my new tummy. Then I had a scrambled egg with cheese on it, was right at 2oz there too and even yummier than the cottage cheese. And then I had spiced up tuna and mayo. The clouds parted and the angels sang! My tummy and mouth are happier than they have been in soooooo long. Heh, who knew tuna with mayo was so good.

I put a small dollop of sour cream in them and it helped to thin them enough that they weren't hard to get down for me. But I seem to be doing super well with things physically now so I hope you are able to have the same luck soon! -

Yes! The ricotta bake is soooooo good! I have done egg salad and refried beans with cheddar and sour cream and chili (bean not meat) pureed and it's just made a world of difference in how I feel emotionally even. Sent from my SM-N950U using BariatricPal mobile app -

Oh man that surely is reason to celebrate! I am so much happier with just having some pureed food. I felt like I was gonna just poop out and then when I woke today, I felt like a dark cloud had moved off of me... kinda like I was in survival mode and now I am getting a taste of living again (pardon the pun lol)! That's an awesome day to be able to do pureed Jazzy! You got this for sure! -
