    Pre-Op Journey

The tech may have not needed to titrate your cpap because they had already seen significant apnea! Thats probably good news. Lol not the apnea, but the lack of titration. I dont snore so I never even knew I had apnea... but after my test I found I had severe sleep apnea at around 65 apnea events an hour. No wonder I was so tired all the time. My cpap has helped my quality of rest soooooo much too. Try not to worry over anything, it goes by so fast when you get approval you feel nearly startled at how easy it was lol. Hang in there, YOU are worth it!

    Pre-Op Journey

Hey! I just had my sleeve on 10/29 at Bailey with Dr. Brandon Varnell! It was an awesome experience and I had no issues at all with the medical part of it. No pain, not even the infamous gas pain. I live in Tulsa and I would totally message ya with my phone number if you want to ask any questions or anything! Good luck and it seems to take forever and then it comes so quickly lol. The hospital and all the care was really super. I am glad I didnt end up just flying down to Mexico as 100 percent of my surgery was covered and it really was excellent care.
  4. Great idea! My list is... 1. Mobility-my knees, I couldn't do crap because it killed my knees. This is already nearly resolved and I am just 2 weeks out heh. 2. Health-been crazy healthy my whole life til 2 years ago. Had something else go awry in my body and had transfusions.... within 2 months I was diabetic, an MS diagnosis, high blood pressure, a huge weight gain, and such severe exhaustion and fatigue that I could barely make it to the bathroom, much less do anything or go anywhere. And I NEVER wanna be that way again so here I am post op already off Metformin and bp meds as I no longer have those conditions... and I can walk around my neighborhood! 3. Family-I love them so much, I wanna keep being involved with them for a long time 4. Longevity-Again, I love my hubby and kids and grandkids sooooo much, I wanna be around to enjoy them a good while longer! 5. Looks-bonus! But I dont think I would have had bariatric surgery over primarily looks, its just the icing on the cake to be better looking lol 6. Romance- doesn't matter, I have the best, kindest, most awesome hubby I could ever hope for already! He's amazing and makes my heart flutter and my world go round!

I LOVE the tea and the green tea of the Isopure 40's. They are how I really get my fluids and protein in lol. I like the green apple and melon, it tastes like honeydew, though its a bit on the sweet side. The coconut are 20's and only 16 oz. And taste like I am drinking pure sugar. I can't stand them, its way too much. The mango peach are ok, not great but at least I can drink them prolly like you can drink the passion fruit. I just got some grape one's but I haven't tried them yet. GNC here this week has buy one get one half off on a case, plus I had a $5 coupon, so I bought 2 cases almost for the price of one! Anyway, in my humble opinion, the tea and green tea are probably ok to go with if you can stomach the passion fruit.... like i said those are my favorite and I will probably go to drinking just them if no other flavors work out for me.
  6. Wow, this thread certainly was eye-opening. The only thing I have to contribute is that I took a small bite of my formerly favorite cookie a couple days ago and it was my first and only bite of real sugar since surgery. It was so disgusting I felt nauseated and had to brush my teeth afterward just to get the taste out of my mouth. So apparently I wont have any issues with sugary foods. Keep an open mind to what a treat is, lol, you may find suprising changes in your new palate!!!

    October 2018 Sleevers

Ok so I sort of feel lucky but also weird. I am 2 weeks postop as of tomorrow. Since the beginning of my 2 week liquid diet I have lost 36 pounds. I just got through a 5 day stall where I didn't lose a single pound. My weight loss is rapid, really really rapid, for which I am grateful. I had my postop appt on Friday and my surgeon said that since I am able to get in all my protein and liquid, and that I have a good metabolism and dense muscle mass, he thinks its fine. However, I am worried about when this little honeymoon ends. During the 5 day stall I found myself down and depressed and worried if I was doing something wrong. I know I am doing just right and my body is just settling into the huge fast weight loss I just had, but I still have those little voices and feelings that I am not really gonna lose weight, that this wont really work for me, that I am not good enough to be so lucky. Anyway, I have been a bit emotional the last couple days, and down. I have something else very difficult and sad I am going through currently and of course can't eat my pain, so I expect it. Just, I wish I could relax and enjoy this, without second guessing myself, without feeling like I don't deserve it. Now, I am not particularly the whiny type usually, but I figured I would reach out here since you guys are going through the same kinds of things. Can anyone else identify with these feelings or should I be worried that this may not be transient, that I need professional help now and quickly. Thanks guys, this stuff is harder than it seemed like it would be in some ways, and easier than it seemed like it would be in others. I appreciate you guys sharing and being awesome!

I had the same thing happen with the nausea again, so yesterday I did the whole day of just liquid and today I feel quite a lot better thankfully!
  9. My surgeon doesnt let us go on to puree for 10 to 14 days... however i have pushed that a little bit with a few super soft veggies in the warm soups... they dissolve so its not lumpy just a lil thicker. It is def easier still to just have the broth, but i dont think 2 smushed carrots stirred in that liquid is really any problem.
  10. Ok so I was sleeved on 10/29 too! And I have the same issues too! I actually ended up going to whole foods and getting several different kinds of soups and thats what has been helping. Just having the different flavors is such a relief. I can't tell ya much more than that about it, but its what got me thru that day (had a 5 pound weight loss the next day and that helped as well) and I am exactly as new to all this as you. Matt Z always has really good stuff to say to people here so I am gonna follow him as soon as I get done responding to you lol, so listen to him and people like him... they have been through it and are awesome enough to be here to help us with their insight and hindsight. Be kind to you, this **** is sooooo hard. I go to my doc tomorrow and should be moved to pureed, so there is some hope for a lil bit of texture, I am trying to hang in there. Big Hugs!!! You got this, you are here, reaching out, you got this!

Thank you so much, that was so kind. I started spotting last night, though nothing today so far (am premenopausal) so I am sure combined with my rollercoaster of emotions right now about food, surgery, and this crazy fatigue, pms hasn't been my friend... as if it ever is lol. Yesterday, I had this crazy day where my stomach felt hollow... like I was starving and needed food so much. I am still on all liquids as per my surgeon and ended up drinking 128 oz. My nausea has cleared up quite a lot though I still hiccup a lot and feel that "stuck" feeling at first when I eat or drink anything. I have been feeling super weird since surgery, disconnected or something. Like I am just going thru motions and not really in my brain. Today I felt a lil more connected finally than I have since surgery Monday, but its still weird. I don't wanna talk to anyone, be around anyone, or do anything. At this point though, I am feeling physically a little better and just mostly struggle with feeling sooooo tired. Sometimes I can barely walk to the bathroom and back to my recliner without just dropping from exhaustion. I have to go back to work Thursday, so that should be interesting to see how I handle that. Thanks for being here, I really appreciate you.

    Crepe-y skin!! Haaaalp!!

Yep, thats what they told me to do so am about to wash my tummy and then put on the cream!
  14. I have been turning into a terrible infomercial subject! There is some weird infomercial that goes on and on about crepe-y skin and I never knew what they heck they were talking about, til now. I am only 5 days post-op and the skin on my stomach and thighs has turned into a thin, red, and itchy crepe paper textured mess. My follow up isnt for another 9 days and I feel like I am going crazy with the itching. Is there anything I can safely put on my tummy to moisturize it while the cement is still fresh on my surgical incisions? I feel like Ima gonna flay the flesh off my belly! aaaargh!

    Food funerals?

Oooh I see you have had your surgery now, the day after mine! I did the same thing with my food lol. How I controlled it (and the money I was flinging at food), was to drink a shake for breakfast and lunch, then whatever I wanted for dinner. Surprisingly, it worked. I didn't gain weight, didn't lose either lol, and it made the liquid diet sooo much easier to stick to! I lost 24 pounds in 10 days lol. I won't ever regret those things I ate... it was sooo good!

    Crepe-y skin!! Haaaalp!!

Perfect and I have some! Waiting for a call back from the doc on call and looking forward to some relief!
  17. Oooh, I love Dillard's too! Some of my suggestions to get you pointed the right direction is J. Jill, Chico's, Anthropologie, and stuff like that. They are a lil pricey but good quality and simple cuts with a sometimes lil funky edge (specially Anthropologie). Sign up to get the coupons and sale emails and basically cut your spending in half! Totally makes them affordable.

I had surgery the same day as you! However, I tried to eat 2oz of butternut squash soup for lunch and after getting 1 oz in, I was too full. So now, I havent been able to eat or barely drink since. Also, I am sooo weak its stupid. I get exhausted just going for a small walk. I don't really hurt anymore but boy my stomach is giving me fits. I think I probably should just stay on liquids another day or two and then try again with a soup. Anyway, you are my bariatric twinnie! lol
  22. Yes! I literally used to work at the hospital I was in, on the bariatric floor! I knew this is what I needed for ME, so I tuned out all the scary stuff and complied as completely as possible to every single thing I was asked to do! Fortunately I have no memory of anything from being in the preop room til I was being parked in my room where my hubby was waiting! I haven't had any real pain, just tons of nausea. I just had my surgery Monday and today is Friday. You are gonna do great!! Just try not to think about what you know and have seen, and just let the experience take you where you are supposed to go!

    October 2018 Sleevers

Hey there! Just had my surgery Oct. 29 and feel super alone right now. I didn't have much pain, just a lot of nausea. Had to stay in the hospital an extra day from the vomitting but now its much better, although not gone completely.
