When did you stop using shakes?
New&Improved replied to Swanton_Bomb's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
If after my surgery I could live off protein shakes and be satisfied I would. We only need fuel to motivate us and keep us moving so fuel is fuel the way I see it as long as you're getting your protein then VITAMINS -
Here in Australia most people I've spoken to have been told to do min 2 weeks optifast protein shake diet liquids only to make liver smaller but others have been told to do longer, depends I guess on starting weight, any weight you can take off before surgery is a bonus!

People with no more than 100 pounds to lose
New&Improved replied to jasmineinmymind's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
That's alright everyone goes their own pace, some can lose 80lbs in 6 months! -
Okay if I'm to be completed shallow in my own mind it doesn't matter to me whether a girl is 150lbs or 200lbs provided she has big breasts like DD or better, I like big butt too, but it really depends on the individual girl. I've met numerous girls at 200lbs that had the most beautiful face and smile with the body and I was attracted. Then a mate of mine will Only date girls around 100-140lbs and like 5ft tall. Every guy is different like I love some Latino and Mexican girls they generally are born with curves lol they can be small but still very curvy just look at Selena Gomez!!!

In Australia if you have high enough medical insurance they cover most but can still be out of pocket between 3k to 9k depending on which state and surgeon you use, most places only ask for blood tests and insurance information then a couple consultations before surgery that's it or maybe see a dietitian then obviously pay for initial appointment then free after that with surgeon who keeps in touch after surgery but none of those hoops you have in USA that require numerous assessments and psychologists and even diet plan that can go for months before approval even comes. Where in Australia I've only got insurance for this procedure the one rule is I must be with them 12 month before I can have surgery paying a monthly fee and then pay the surgery which I've found 2 places one 3k or 4k out of pocket and that's the cheapest! While I wait out the 12 months I've been on this site gathering tons of information still trying to decide between RNY and the loop/sips

**my own kids my own DNA** very important

Absolutely agree turning big 35 this year and my weight has been my issue of my long time single-ness, I have plans to do RNY this year and I completely understand the issue with dating obese people because you don't want to get sucked down the rabbit hole again after all the time and effort put in to lose weight and also absolutely agree I'm sick of people telling me oh you must find a woman close to your age but I'm yet to meet a woman over 30 that doesn't have a bunch of kids yet and also the issue with the woman biological clock could stop at 40; as I'm yet to begin a family and it will be a year from now before I get near my goal weight and start a family so the only logical choice is looking for a girl that's around 10 years below as I want 4 kids which takes 10 years to make happen and that's only if all things are going perfectly so yeah it's hard to start dating when at my age I'm ready for kids and marriage and every girl I've spoken to anywhere near 30+ has kids and divorcee so it's hard indeed so I've made the decision for myself to look 10 years younger at least so I'll be able to have many kids if that's what is to happen

Questions about DS surgery
New&Improved replied to lessismore1001's topic in Duodenal Switch Surgery Forum
HOW DOES THE DS LOSE MOST what's the science? It appears very similar to the RNY -
What do I need to cover with my surgeon before my duodenal switch
New&Improved replied to dssamanthanicole's topic in Duodenal Switch Surgery Forum
Is the DS the loop or mini bypass -
From what I've read there's not much of a difference between both RNY and the loop except the loop can cause bile reflux they both restrict hunger and they both bypass some intestines.

Thought I'd make a specific page for ADELAIDE if possible and if anyone in Adelaide wants to post their information if they're looking for friends or more

Any Adelaide people in here had surgery recently in the past year need some questions answered

Endoscopic Sleeve Gastroplasty (ESG) or Gastric Sleeve?
New&Improved replied to Born in Missouri's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Why such a weird choice the RNY has been around for years done to millions of people. There's no reason to be scared of a procedure that is so common place and done everyday. I'm I Adelaide and found a great surgeon with good reputation and only costs $3000 out of pocket after health insurance coverage. It's a no brainer. The surgery your talking about is so unheard of and as it appears has little success -
People with no more than 100 pounds to lose
New&Improved replied to jasmineinmymind's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
It really depends on how much activity you do to help burn plus how much protein or calories you intake. I think you should feel happy only needing 100lbs loss not 200/300/400 I watch MY 600LB LIFE and think how is it possible for someone to get to 600lbs without anybody in the family saying something you know, I've been unhealthy most of my life since about 12, but I've never been above 325lbs in my life. I'm currently 318 and being that I'm a tall guy I'm aiming for 180lbs which is 140lb needed. I'm glad that's all I need. I can only Imagine how it would feel being told sorry you need to lose 400lbs! -
Modified DS (Loop DS) vs. Traditional DS
New&Improved replied to James B's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
In Australia it's called mini bypass/omega loop or RNY BYPASS. They're pretty much the same in regards to results -

100 lbs in under a year?
New&Improved replied to mousecat88's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I'm actually hoping the surgery will help me not to need to feel hungry and ONLY eat when I need and not to snack ever again. I need to lose this weight ASAP I also have issues due to my weight. I'm only 34 but I've been overweight since I was like 13 except one year in 2012 I actually managed to lose 100lbs and I got down to about 200lbs even then I felt really great and everyone noticed and I even got attention from the girls. So I know 180lbs would be perfect. You must be very thin and small frame to get 160 or less I hope your okay and not making yourself anorexic. I know how to be strict and lose weight but the surgery will allow me to maintain long term and all that. I've decided to go RNY BYPASS I feel it's the best option even if I have to take multiple vitamins. I know I'll need a lot of protein to make up for the lack of food intake and that I'll be using alot of protein shakes if I don't feel like eating either. I can't wait for this operation and to finally start a new life! Tnx
