New&Improved replied to Chaelove0810's topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
Yes RNY will fix many things. My dr said it's great for those who suffer from type2 diabetes so that's a big reason for me to go RNY -
I know last time I lost a significant amount of weight my shoe size got smaller so I could wear nicer shoes !

Scheduled for weight loss on 8-2-19
New&Improved replied to big_ange's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Most of us in Australia are given a pre-op diet anywhere from 1-4 weeks mostly protein shakes, high protein intake only maybe veges or even small can of tuna for one meal a day but I suggest spending the next 3 months educating yourself on good food and bad food and intake and read read read! -
Yes it's possible the stress on your spine and bones. 210lbs In a year is impressive. I'm only 6"0 and 320 I'm hoping to get to 180-190 and if I can grow an inch that be good Haven't been under 200 since high school!

HAS ANYONE ELSE NEEDED TO LOSE WEIGHT TO BE APPROVED FROM YOUR INSURANCE??
New&Improved replied to tal's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Is there a specific amount of weight needed? Maybe your BMI is too high for SLEEVE but not for RNY BYPASS? -
HAS ANYONE ELSE NEEDED TO LOSE WEIGHT TO BE APPROVED FROM YOUR INSURANCE??
New&Improved replied to tal's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
In Australia all we need is doctor and surgeon to approve surgery that's it but I do have to see a dietitian at least once before surgery and do a 2 week protein shake diet to help operation he said to shrink liver but may also shed a few kgs. But even with full coverage we still pay gap out of pocket anywhere between 3k and 6k generally but that covers hospital stay any meds need in hospital. No psych needed, no supervised diet or hurdles needed but I've been doing my own mental preparation for months before taking the leap myself. Looking at a late September surgery! (12 month wait prerequisite) -
BCBSIL anyone? How long to approve?
New&Improved replied to cubyblue6's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A

Have many people not been advised a pre-op diet?
New&Improved replied to Pippa1703's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yes since you'll be forced to live on liquids and purees for weeks post op -
Good on them but I'm not wasting my hard earned money

Hi there I'm confused you had surgery a year ago what surgery. You gained weight after 5 months? How much did you lose in 5 months? It seems you were not psychological ready for this big event on your life so some errors could have been made and maybe you lacked critical support from family and friends?
-
Big difference mate! Can I ask your start weight and current weight. Tnx
-
If I were you and you wanted to be healthy eat before you go then just bring water
-
Ok that's not nice. The prices are extortion sorry I'm in Australia and I've never had any issue with bringing my own backpack in they may look but no issue unless alcohol of course. If you're a family and you buy food and drinks it can cost $100s to go cinemas otherwise! Plus if you're eating healthy you can't eat there so why not bring fruit or tuna or something before hand?
-
You do know you're allowed to bring your own food I've never ever bought popcorn myself
-
Is my goal reasonable?
New&Improved replied to mousecat88's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Easy provided you follow the rules. I know a few people who lost 100 in that time -
I never buy popcorn much cheaper and healthier to pack your own meal
-
Invest in some microwave safe air tight containers to eat out of. Put your protein in one, veges in the other, prepare meals everyday

Weight flies just as fast as time!

That's pretty mad. I wanted to be out quick but my dr is saying we can't by law let you go under the influence of drugs still and if still in pain they have duty of care

Pre-Op Diet Adherence
New&Improved replied to wallpapermusic's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
The whole idea of a pre-op diet is to help shrink the liver plus shed a few lbs but also to set yourself up for your new life and new regime and to kick start your weight loss. It is shown if you cheat during the honeymoon period post surgery it can have a huge effect on future weight loss because surgery resets everything inside for a new life and starting small with liquid and so on but some people seem to have issues grasping the whole seriousness of this surgery and that they have to change everything if they are to be successful not cheat here and there then wonder why Joe blow lost double you did! The people who commit to this mentally before surgery are the ones who lose 100lbs in 6 months and keep it off not the ones who decide to put 50% effort.. in the end it's your life. PS if youre eating actual sushi rolls they are full of MSG and carbs and Salt but Goodluck! California Roll, one 6-8 piece roll Calories 255 Fat 7 g Carbs 38 g Fiber 6 g Protein 9 g -

Hey guys I'm really tossing up between regular RNY or MGB I'd love to know honest responses on how life is with the MGB (omega loop) Do you have to eat slowly small bites? do you get full easily, has your hunger gone away? how is your weight loss? Any reflux issues? Literally good or bad information I need it all. Thank you. Like how much did you lose each month? or by 6 month and then 12 month? I've been told that RNY and MGB are very similar stat wise? Hope to hear from everyone
