  2. Yeah that BMI chart is So vague like my goal is between 85-90kgs (190-200) and It says BMI 25-26 is considered overweight by most charts but yours above says healthy so it's confusing lol my doctor said he'll be happy to see me below 100kg (220) as every single kg will decrease my risks of heart problems and extend my life

    Doctor’s Appt Tomorrow But...

If you're unwell but feeling good with the surgery don't see why you can't wait until you're better

    Approval date, huh?

I suggest ringing your surgeons office asap
  5. Hey people's kinda lonely having a quiet one for my birthday this year saving all my pennies for surgery and buying bulk protein powder glad to have a great group like this to look to for inspiration. got a few tests to do before surgery currently booked for end of October if all goes to plan. besides that it's my birthday 35 years YOUNG the surgery is like a well deserved birthday present for myself 😛

    Duodenal Switch with heart failure

You really need to speak with a surgeon or someone specialized in surgery to know if your heart could even handle such a surgery?

    Losing Hope

Just think of all the positives! I know one lady who took 2 years to get surgery! I do agree though some doctors do seem to be extra strict on the approval process..

  9. Wow it's starting to get real.. Not too long now until surgery day.. Still got a few things to deal with first but it's got me a little anxious I need to start making changes soon to my diet and cut out the sugar and energy drinks soon Still got about 10 weeks to go but feels closer every day. I'm very well prepared stocked up on protein powders and tuna cans also got myself an exercise bike Got a few appointments lined up before surgery can't believe how real its feeling now and I just hope everything goes smoothly and time flies by for me so then I can begin my new life; lose weight get healthy again I'm so glad there's tons of people on this site going through the same process!! thank you all for your support!

    Single DUE to surgery

I was amazed to see you didn't dump his arse that night.. In my opinion your deserve better than that.. It is hard to help people see the light and change their ways! You shouldn't have to deal with that kind of negativity Obviously the op was talking about unhealthy habits and junk food etc

    EXCITED NERVOUS CURIOUS

Yes few weeks ago finally seen the actual surgeon. Agreed with me on RNY; just asked a few things of me before surgery date including a long pre op diet and a dietitian appointment as he prefers his patients to have the best preparation possible for the surgery and the post surgery restrictions that will come...(as well as lose some weight to help with liver) Tentative date 28 th October provided everything goes to plan dealing with my GP Dr trying to coordinate things before surgery day! Fingers crossed!! my goal was to have this surgery before Xmas

The Best Decision We’ve EVER Made

So good to see someone taking on the go hard or go home approach well done

I've got the 6 month post op blues

I think you need to do a reset mentally and physically with your pouch.. Reset your goals. Reset your intake. Make some changes if you're ready before too late

    Should I start now?

Every lb will make surgery safer

    Freakish Restriction???

I totally understand it will be a whole new way of eating & Drinking water. Taking your time between each bite and listening to your pouch more closely will take a lot of trial and error. But yes I've been on this site a year now reading everything I can 👍👍👍
  17. As a man I can't wait to be able to buy decent clothing like from good brands and stuff because currently they don't cater to big and tall.. Too be able to run around with nieces and nephews without getting a heart attack... Being able to go out on the town without dying Too finally have ladies attention

    Freakish Restriction???

Its weird how some people have very little restriction. And then others like you have full restriction from day 1 and for months. I hope to get the restriction because that will enable me to shed the most weight in the beginning while restricted

    Freakish Restriction???

    Did you have bypass
  20. That's news to me also I thought there would be a standard procedure for this bypass? Or do surgeons alter things if need be? I hope my surgeon does the best procedure possible. My BMI is only 43 not 50 though

    Goal weight

Yeah the bmi doesn't take into account your frame I'm 6ft0 and same kind of bmi and NO WAY would I get below 180 without looking too thin. Personally I'd be happy at 200 maybe 190lbs even then usually tone up a bit and sit between 190-200 roughly that's my end goal ! But it's good idea to make small goals along the way!

    2 week pre-op diet.

Yes I've been told 3 weeks only liquids. Shakes everyday to help the liver and lose a little weight as well for best chase of success with surgery but also it prepares you for when you have surgery and have to live on liquids for few weeks post op!
  23. Exactly there are so many reasons to get surgery that far outweigh any negative

    Premier protein shakes

She's not wrong In asking you to find better quality alternatives! Unfortunately some RTD aren't that pure or high quality like actual isolate is. I've seen protein powders with 50% only content but the isolate are more like 90% protein per drink. Yes there's a price difference but aren't you paying $2 per premier protein shake? Also need to be sure of sugar and fat and carbs content per shake to get the best possible results especially in the early days post op!!
