  1. For the men mostly after losing 100lbs like what kind of training or workouts or tips do you have to help to stop from getting bat wings and lower stomach skin? I'm very early days so I'm just curious what kind of a regime would you suggest? I mostly do cardio on my bike but I've been hearing more and more about using weights or machines to work on my arms and like rowing machines? I know there's no gauranteed way but there's gotta be tips to help tone your overall body as I go through my journey? Like I want to eventually have some tone maybe even muscle not end up like a stick but also don't want to be huge? I've still got 100lbs to lose and feel if I start weight training will it put muscle onto my fat or will it actually help me burn more fat and flubber?? Sorry for any ignorance I've never tried weights!!

    First consultation this week

Well I can never afford 20k so I'm doing it the best way I can. My surgery is set for end of October but I've started my preop diet earlier My surgeon says any weight loss will help him do the surgery and help my recovery.
  3. What exactly does cross fit include and do you do any other weights or anything

    First consultation this week

I'm in SA total cost for my surgery out of pocket 4500. Top hospital cover only $200 month don't know where you got 5000 from? I'll be in private hospital. Private room. Very quick process so far just had to do the 12 months waiting period but from first visit to surgery will be 3 months Had a few places to go in SA chose the most streamlined approach without all the hoops. seen surgeon twice. Weighed in twice. See a dietitian next week and that's about it until my surgery date.
  5. Make sure to check references and reputation of surgeons before engaging in such major surgery I've watched enough BOTCHED to see what can happen....

    Protein Powder

Keep your eye on the labels and ingredients. Look for high quality protein % per serve. Look for lowest carbs and sugars. Taste is subjective

    Keto post op diet

Personally I stick to high protein. Low carbs. No sugar or bad fat... Protein always comes first! If I need a few carbs I'll throw in some berries or veggies but mostly protein keeps me feeling fuller longer Drink plenty of water constantly... Also need to sleep well 8 hours plus..

    MY SURGERY UPDATES

Thanks @FluffyChix for your kind words!!
  10. To whom it may concern. I got to see my surgeon again yesterday. It went really really well I'm still 4.5 weeks out from my date which is confirmed as 10/28 and I'll be the first surgery after lunch that day. I've started my own preop diet early and I'm down 38lbs currently at 282lbs aiming for around 185lbs. Surgeon says any weightloss will definitely help him do the surgery and help my recovery. The BMI doesn't matter they use the first BMI that's it but he said it's good I've lowered my risk factors and I'll be in my own private room and private bathroom facilities in the hospital. I'll be looking at least 3 days as long as I'm getting liquids down and walking well but if any issues could be longer. I do have some kidney issues so will need extra monitoring before I leave as I live on my own. In response to the technical he said he usually makes the bypass 120cm long whatever that means; he said it's restrictive but not Majorly so that you can still live with some vitamins and to be most careful to get enough calcium and vitamin D for the bones as the bones can possibly have issues long term if not taken care of early. He was really happy with my weight loss and to see how committed I was so that I don't need to see him until surgery day He just said keep up the good work and basically in giving my body a Head Start by losing weight before the surgery!! I'm happy. I'm excited. now all I need to lose to be at my final end goal is 100lbs that's it cannot wait to get this surgery and start a new life and a positive future! I'm doing great with shakes and can tuna and Frozen veggies then some days ill have some blueberries and strawberries With my protein intake and very low carbs I'm finding that I'm not craving much at all so I'm happy just hope the restriction comes from surgery as well. Anyways that's my latest news I've just gotta keep myself positive and committed until surgery then I'll figure it all out AFTER surgery in regards to taste buds and such. Thanks again to everyone who has offered their kind words over the last 12 months of my journey!! Good day. Mikey

    MY SURGERY UPDATES

    😀😇😂
  13. Hey guys just getting closer to surgery and few small questions. I know they may have been asked similar before. My surgeon last time we spoke said might need like 5 days in hospital for the RNY BYPASS surgery? He says it's very serious surgery and I haven't had any surgery since a teenager and he wants to be double sure I'm right to go home look after myself as I live alone. I've never heard of anyone on this site doing that many days? Some ppl talk about 1 night only or even out patient surgery? I think it may also be that I live about 2.5hrs from the hospital maybe? I'll be seeing surgeon in a week to ask more questions :) just thought I'd see what others experienced?? it's going to be hard on my own having to do my own like cooking and cleaning and stuff

    Pre op

I've used a few brands. as above look for highest protein per serve and lowest carbs/sugar per serve

    Hope this isn't crass

I think that will be a personal decision but I hear it can take up to 4 weeks to fully heal
