  2. Hi there I'm just a little curious if people actually used chewables in the first weeks or months postop? My dietitian has mentioned it as a good idea to use for the first month at least? Also I've been told the most important vitamins to take are calcium citrate and vitamin D but also K2 may be good?? I know there are others like B12 but My surgeon said it can vary by person and on your post op blood work. Currently my vitamin levels are fine preop. Would like first hand knowledge plz???

    Protein

If you can find a 30g scoop then it will be 1/3 also @GreenTealael its 1600kj not kcal so its roughly 400kcal per 100g but if you use 30g per serve it looks better. 130kcal 28g protein But why soy why not normal whey protein
  17. HELLO I'm getting very close to surgery but thought I'd ask to find people who had the sleeve and can tell me they still felt a lot of restriction post op like I'm looking at RNY but still curious if the sleeve stomach as the sleeve isn't like the pouch in size and if sleeve really makes that much of an impact on your portion control for the first say 6months? I'm torn as the bypass has many advantages but it is more effort to keep up with vitamins and worry about deficiencies! I just spoke to Dietitian today she was very full on about how hard it will be to keep up with all the vitamins and living off like 1/4 cup food and sipping water all day chewing food heaps. I've got about 90lbs to lose to reach my end goal but I feel the bypass has more long term advantages not sure if sleeve will have enough restriction say after 12 months??? any help appreciated also the weight loss I'm looking at is someone who needs to lose 100-150lbs max to match with me? As I know the higher weight usually means higher losses. cheers.
  18. Well she did say she's not specialised in this area but she had a bunch of papers telling me what to do for every little phase I will go through but overall she was a little negative I feel I just wanted more "real" world information from you guys here before I decide. It was rather overwhelming with her giving me so much information and being a little pushy about it like she said this is the particular brand you need of vitamins and I'm like I think I can find alternatives that aren't so dear... I've already got surgeons approval this is just for a little extra support...
  19. Feeling great. Starting the final count down 4 weeks; 28 days ill be having surgery 10/28. Been working hard on my own diet the past 5 weeks cut out all sugar and carbs and junk food. Started shakes and high protein low carb lifestyle. Drinking plenty of fluids, living off tuna and veggies mostly. Just started using my exercise bike to help. Surgeon was very happy that I lost 40lbs in the first 4 weeks currently 279 highest 322 aiming for 185-200lbs. I'm feeling very positive about the future. It is a challenge to keep focused and to be strict on myself but I remind myself everyday to keep my eye on the prize!!! I'm forever grateful for this group

    Starting over again

why didn't they do bypass if got reflux
  22. New&Improved

Final 4 weeks until surgery day!!!

@Brent701 I don't feel I can maintain this restrictive diet on my own long term that's number 1. Number 2 the RNY BYPASS does a lot more than just restrict the amount of food, it completely rearranges your system and changes your metabolism for the better and I believe I need all those things plus the Malabsorption for my long term success. Number 3 losing weight is not that hard. it's keeping it off and maintaining it for years to come that's where the surgery will increase my chances of long term success. In the past I've had traumatic experiences in life that have sent me completely off track where I would indulge in all things like bad carbs and take away and generally overeating plus I was an alcoholic for many years but gave that up. I still get cravings when I see things on tv like a nice big juicy burger or steak but I have to remind myself why I am doing this... Thanks for your response
