  1. Unfortunately it's a part of life and you will need to adapt to it. Everyday now for the rest of your life You have to be mindful of your new way of life. I feel great I can look at people stuffing their faces with junk wherever I go and I know that is not me anymore. I don't even want that food anymore. Nor is any food worth giving up my health and the 110lbs I've already lost! I'm the healthiest I've ever been in my 35 years and food is now just fuel that is it.. We need to learn to disassociate food with pleasure. We need to find other things in life that give us joy outside of junk food.

    Vegetable Hater

I say grow up and get over your vegetable phobia. Everyone who has surgery has to adapt.
  15. Oct 28th RNY. 44lbs since surgery. Total of 108lbs in 4 months.
  16. Good evening everyone. This is my weekly check in. I've been on this weight loss journey now 16 weeks today and down 107lbs. HW 322 CW 215 GW 185-195 Feeling good still mostly on shakes everyday but starting to try little solid things here and there to work out what I can tolerate. I'm 7 weeks post op today but 16 weeks since starting my diet. Feeling positive about the future just got some loose skin mostly under my arms & armpits.. Will need to get into some kind of resistance or weights soon but here in Australia Its summer and heatwave of 100 all week 😭 so not in any mood to workout right now Thanks everyone again for your support MIKE.
  17. Hope everyone is doing well this time of year. Will be my first Christmas with this surgery RNY. I've been thinking up ideas of what I can possibly tolerate and I think my best option to have the usual chicken roast is to turn into like a chicken soup or stew I've just recently bought myself a nice multi cooker that has many options such as slow cook; Pressure cook and baking.. so because I'm still mostly on liquids and very soft food still I've decided for me to actually enjoy the chicken and vegetables; that I'll put it all together in the cooker with some stock and various vegetables and some garlic and salt and pepper then let it cook so when it's done the meat will be so moist and fall of the bone and the vegetables will be also very soft and easy for me to digest obviously I can't eat much more than a couple oz of meat so I'll be able to freeze any leftovers into containers for later on. for others in early post op stages I feel this is a great option so that you can still enjoy some aspect of Xmas dinner; I feel that doing a roast in an oven will dry out the chicken and the vegetables and make it hard to swallow. so I hope this works for me and allows me to enjoy some Xmas foods. THANKS.
  18. I'm pretty content and satisfied with shakes. If I don't crave food I don't mind. Even my surgeon said if you want to stay on shakes good for you plus it will increase my weight loss while I'm in the first 6 month window where people lose the most. I do have some things here and there like yoghurt and hummus and thin slice meat; I tried a few solid things that didn't go down well.. So that's why I'll be making soft soup or stew for Xmas. I feel there's no reason to hurry thru the stages.. Everyone is different..some ppl feel the need to eat from week 1 others choose to wait.. It's a learning curve right now..
  19. I was able to drink well very early on a few days post op in the hospital I was already drinking around 60oz a day and after a few weeks that doubled and now I drink shakes everyday and water and coffee or tea without any issues... Never really felt much restriction of liquids except have to take smaller mouthfuls.

    No F#$ckin BMI Way

https://www.livestrong.com/article/219938-how-to-know-your-body-frame/ Body frame actually does come into your ideal weight as explained here. For instance I have a good mate who is actually 3 inches taller than me but his frame is so small that he weighs around 160lbs I know for a fact I would never get near that nor do I want to. Everyone comments on my build all my family have broad shoulders and even my sister's are 5ft8 and 5ft10 my 17yr old niece is 5ft11 and all around 150lbs. my uncle is 6ft5 so it is true different genetics can determine your frame and build. Another family I'm close with every child they have girls are all 5ft-5ft4 and 100-120lbs. The lightest I've ever been in my adult hood was I think 195-200 and I felt great yet others thought I was unwell. I'm currently 215 and I plan to get below 200 whether I end up at 180 or 190 I guess I'll find out even though BMI scale alone says that's still considered overweight which is outrageous.
