    Pre op diet

I've been on my diet now over 4 months. Not once have I cheated and my results have been great. I feel if you can't stick to a simple preop diet then you're going to struggle long term...

    Pre op diet

What are you trying to find out?
  4. You might need a proper dietitian to help you understand how to get back on track plus I also recommend a psychologist to help with the mental part of this journey

    Pre-Op Billing Resolved after 1 3/4 years

That's not good I love Australia.. Any one who qualified as low income family gets full coverage from the government. Until my RNY surgery I never had to pay for anything my surgery and all bills were covered that's all pre and post op consultations. I go to my gp dr regularly. I've spent multiple weeks in hospital as a child for tonsils and appendix and kidneys. I used to have blood tests monthly for my kidneys and I've never had to pay a cent for healthcare before I chose to get surgery. If I wanted it paid for by the government I would have been on a waiting list for like 3 years and jump through numerous hoops but instead I went thru insurance and it was a quick easy process I just had an out of pocket expense but it was well worth it to get a private hospital and private room.. Never been to a private hospital before so it was an amazing feeling being cared for so much and I was there for 7 days with around the clock nurses unlike America where they seen to kick you out after a day or 2...
  8. Everything you mentioned is very unhealthy high in carbs and takeaway. You should be eating fresh healthy meals you prepare at home not takeaway mcmuffin are you serious?

2 months after surgery still can’t eat much

I'll be 10 weeks Monday and I'm still mostly on shakes. 2 or 3 a day most days

    Quick question

If your activity level is low there's no reason to add calories. I'm 10 weeks post op nearly and I'm still around 500cal most days.

I personally feel there's no one size fits all plan to weight loss. I was given 'guidelines' by surgeon and dietitian but that's what they are guides; I've personally done things my way; I didn't feel comfortable moving thru the stages so I've stayed with shakes for the most part and it has worked really well for me. Sure I've tried different soft foods and some worked others didn't agree with me. I've been satisfied with my high protein shakes and most days I actually don't crave anything else. If I do crave a little sweetness I've got high protein. Sugar free yoghurt in the fridge :) I didn't like the dietitian anyway she had no idea what it is like to be obese nor was she specialised in bariatric patients; I told her I'm happy doing things my way plus I've got over a years worth of knowledge from reading 1000s of posts on here and other sites. I've actually done really well by being strict from day 1 and not making any excuses. most days I actually don't even feel that hungry but if I do the protein in the shakes keeps me going. sure there's days where for a moment I wish I could grab a juicy burger but then I remember why I went through this surgery and then I'll go have a nice cold shake :D I enjoy coffee everyday and I keep myself occupied so that I don't even have time to think about food. I understand that everyone is different and feels the need to have variety but personally I'm pretty easy going! all I can say is what I've been doing has given me amazing results and I couldn't be happier! Thank you.

I love my shakes. I buy powder in bulk 12lbs for $130-$150 which can last me up to 2 months..
  14. Get the surgeon to say it's medically necessary
  15. Sounds like she's not worth wasting your oxygen on. You do not need that kind of negativity in your life. Some people should never have children. Keep focused on your future.

    First Six Months

I've been on predominantly shakes 3x a day now for over 4 months; I do have yoghurt and hummus here and there but shakes that are high protein keep me satisfied! After 4 months and 1 week I've lost 118lbs and I only started at 322 highest. I feel great and I plan on continuing until I hit my goal Not everyone is lucky like me to rarely even feel hungry at all

That one person might lose weight on junk food but the health implications are not good at all spiking insulin and raising cholesterol levels plus others so this is why most of us chose a bariatric path and obviously our diet should be strict to get the most benefit out of it and the fact that our intake is so little post op we have to go for the most nutritional food possible! I've followed my doctors guidelines and was off multiple meds before I even left hospital and have lost over 100lbs and healthier than I've ever been before by being strict and following the doctors rules of high protein low carbs! Obviously "some" ppl have medical reasons that may interfere with their results but most of it comes down to those who work harder have the best results! But I guess everyone is entitled to their own opinions and I wish them luck just don't complain.

Totally agree with @FluffyChix I just see those so called studies as people making excuses for eating crap because some obscure study says all calories are the same; which is total absolute BS! It's the same people who complain that they are slow losers and wonder why!? It's not rocket science people!

And you don't live with pain from obesity? A few days of pain for a whole new life I think is a good deal also if you didn't like pain then children would never be born into this world..
