  2. Hey guys hope all is well. Now I've just hit the 6 months mark since I started my weight loss journey. It's been an amazing ride that's for sure. I started my highest weight of 322lbs. Today I'm 178lbs; that's a 154lbs GONE in 6 months! Surgery weight was 257lbs so I'm 4 months post surgery as well; 79lbs since surgery day I never thought I would even get to this weight and now I feel great. bought some new clothes and noticed some girls actually taking notice of me these days it's a great feeling!! I have been eating more and trying out different foods lately and I can tolerate more these days; actually went out for lunch the other day for the first time since surgery 😀 BMI is now 24 so I'm officially healthy!!! I'm not quite as strict as I was the first months so I am enjoying trying out new foods to see what I can tolerate as I need to start thinking long term and maintenance! Thank you to everyone on this site for your support and I'll be happy to answer any questions you may have if you're thinking about the RNY bypass surgery. Take care. MIKEY

Is weight loss surgery for me?

Well that depends on which surgery you choose.. The sleeve is mostly a food restriction surgery but the bypass and DS have other benefits like metabolic changes; there's plenty of research out there...

Is weight loss surgery for me?

If you choose the bypass or DS it will redirect your intestines and reset and change your metabolism its not just about the volume of food. There's a ton of research about the metabolic changes..

  14. Had a great day seeing my surgeon and checking in for my 3 months post op RNY. My blood results were great all my vitamin levels are good just my healthy cholesterol a little low so he said to start eating a little more food more fish and olive oil etc. He said I've done amazingly to get from 322lbs(146kg) to 186lbs(84.4kg) in just 5 & 1/2 months. I've shed 90% of my EBW; I'm about like 3lbs from "healthy bmi" Surgeon said now to stop worrying about the numbers as much & to just concentrate on more variety in my diet and thinking long term. if I stay at this weight it's perfectly fine if I lose a few more lbs that's great but to stop stressing so much about the lbs as I've done so well. He said I'm in like the top 5% of all his patients results to lose 90% EBW it was great to see his receptionists were shocked as was the surgeon when they saw me. It felt good to get such great praise 😀 So that's my new philosophy to try more variety in my diet; I'll still check my weight each day but I won't stress so much about it I've dropped 136lbs and dropped like 18 BMI points and multiple dress sizes all in just 5.5 months. his other main point was to start building some kind of muscle tone coz I am looking kinda skin and bones at the moment Lol. first world problems 😀 I feel amazing like so much more energy everyday. I love seeing old friends for the first time in months and their reactions are great! Now hopefully when I'm ready I'll be able to meet a nice young lady and start a beautiful family; that is my long term goal Thanks to everyone on here for all your support!!

When can I have toast again?

Had a mate come over for a weekend and he eats whatever he likes... He brought bread and the smell of fresh hot toast was lingering all over the room... So I took a gamble and cooked a slice of toast with a little vegemite; I just ate the middle not the crust Omggg it was amazing my first bite of toast in 5 months...(3 months post op) Didn't bother me at all.. Currently 10 days away from 6 months since starting this diet journey and I'm 140lbs down!

    WHERE DO I EVEN START?!

Yeah I researched local surgeons and thank God my surgeon had his own Dr that does the referrals hahaha very easy and not having to worry about dealing with a Dr that is against surgery...
  17. Is the ham and soups on your plan???
  18. I'm surprised you found someone to do surgery with 29.9 BMI but hope it all works for you.

    Not enough weight for surgery

My starting BMI was 43.7 and I had one surgeons office lady tell me I needed to be 50 BMI for bypass & they tried pushing the sleeve. so I politely hung up the phone and went elsewhere lol found out later that surgeon wasn't very experienced! Finally got my RNY and I'm now 24.7 BMI
