The surgeon should have told you heart burn GERD is a main component of the sleeve and bypass will most likely be needed to fix it...

    Hate bypass

I've met many ppl who say they didn't lose everything they wanted with the sleeve and it took longer than people on bypass and in my experience this is the first time in my life I've ever lost this much ever and ever got this low on the scale and before surgery every little thing I ate would gain weight and now in maintenance I've had a few treats and it has not affected me weight at all...... The sleeve is really just to limit the volume of food that's about it the bypass rearranges your intestines and changes your metabolism; there's a ton of research to explain the metabolic changes.. I know look skinny and have metabolism of skinny person and I feel amazing!!
  6. RNY BYPASS has been amazing.. Had surgery 6 months ago and lost about 90lbs since then but 152lbs since beginning my pre-op diet 8 months ago... Personally I wanted the malabsorption and the change internally and I've noticed my metabolism it's so much better than it was, after I reached goal and now in maintenance I've had a few treats and it has not made a difference but I was super strict on myself for 8 months weighed daily and logged my calories.. I was very lucky post op I had very little desire to eat and I lived off protein shakes for months; my own choice.. Even now there's days where I'm not hungry but others I'll have a craving but it usually goes away... I've gone from Super obese to skinny and maintaining at 170lbs now for a month and feel like a new man. I lost 150lbs since I started this journey 8 months ago it literally melted off me with very little exercise even.. I'm not sure why I've been so lucky with only a few days or a week stall in the whole process.. I'm 35 male. I started at 6ft0 and 322lbs and was obese for like 15 years before surgery... I'm now at 169/170 most days and feel amazing and I've never got this low before without surgery... The bypass changed my metabolism so much..
  7. Was able to shed 152lbs in 8 months and below my goal

  10. Yeah find a doctor whose not a prick
  11. My surgery was bypass and it has been amazing. I know for a fact it has changed my metabolism and the way my body processes food it's like I struggle to gain weight now.. Within 8 months I'm now below my goal weight and maintaining very well and still some days I'm not even hungry other days I'll have a craving and I'll have a treat here and there but it has not affected my progress at all. But yes there's alot of mental preparation needed and commitment and willpower to follow the rules and not be influenced by others around you...

My 600-lb Life: Fact Orr Fiction? 🧐🤔

Most of those people are like 400lbs over weight if not more
  14. It's a good feeling I'm now at 23 BMI
  15. I gave up alcohol along with soda and sugar pre-op I see alcohol as just one of the many things you have to change

    Hate bypass

The bypass does alot more than the sleeve ever could... Being that bypass has your 2nd attempt it will not be the same as a virgin surgery.. RNY BYPASS was the best decision I ever made and I know it has changed my metabolism I can no longer gain weight and I've lost 152lbs in 8 months and some days I don't even get hungry.. but you need to still have self control and be mentally prepared.. It's not a magic trick

    How much would YOU pay???

Medicare covered everything prior and the $4000 covered everything surgery related and 7 days in private hospital private room; multiple tests in Hospital; television, food. no motel just petrol and had to buy my own vitamins and medication after I left hospital all surgeon consultation now covered as well it was an all inclusive package for the $4000- No actual psych clearance needed just a referral and a good discussion with the surgeon and of course all my labs and medical history sent to him it was a very simple process here in Australia... Oh I've had to buy my own protein shakes I know some hospitals give out protein... $4000 is a small price to pay for a new life 😛 & a fast track program! It's 8.5 months since I started my own pre-op diet and I've lost a total of 152lbs and been maintaining now a few weeks at 170lbs...

    How much would YOU pay???

Even with insurance in Australia I still had to pay 4000 out of pocket but it was an easy process took 3 months from first consultation to surgery day... 6.5 months post op below goal weight loving life 😁
  19. I never got any information from my surgeon and I thought I'd ask the veterans on here what exactly is the medical reason behind the *NO* carbonated drinks like a soda? I was really craving something today so I had a small no sugar coke just to see how I felt; I was very busy today realised at the last moment I got the wrong drink but I took it very slow small sips and haven't noticed any side effects? I drink coffee during the day but also lots of water everyday. I've hit a stall the past few days I'm not sure if it's the coffee or the fact I'm very close to the end. I'm currently 212; my ultimate end goal is between 180-190lbs... Maybe the last 20+lbs will be more STUBBORN? I must admit my activity level is minimal and that is my own fault I lack motivation most days.. I know I'll need to get into some kind of exercise; I've got a stationary bike but I really want to get a rowing machine for the whole body workout.. What do ppl think about rowing machines? Sorry this is a multi part question... Thanks. Mike.
  20. Well I hope everyone is surviving through this virus situation. i felt like updating everybody I'm pretty much 6 months post op give or take a few days! This has been an incredible journey to say the least. Had the RNY BYPASS surgery and I believe it completely changed my metabolism; I've lost so much weight and it's like I can't gain weight. i actually started my own pre-op diet roughly 8 months ago way before surgery and my highest weight was 322lbs. I was weighed in for surgery day at 257lbs. Over the past few weeks I've pretty much hit maintenance I believe and I'm weighing in between my lowest day of 168 and my normal days of 170/171 obviously weight can fluctuate from day to day. I am gobsmacked how well I've done and how good I look but I know I really need to start to tone up and build muscle. My main focus from Day 1 was to just shed the weight off lose the LBS and I've done that. Never thought I'd get this far. In the past few weeks I've really tested my metabolism over Easter I had some chocolate and some crisps and a few alcoholic beverages but it appears not to make much difference at all to my weight but obviously I'm back on track still logging my food intake most days and some days still using protein shakes when I'm busy or not that hungry literally 6 months post op some days I'm still not hungry..... So in summary I've lost max 154lbs since day 1; 8 months ago and in the 6 months since surgery day I've lost 87-88lbs and I'm feeling great and it's weird people now telling me I've got to stop losing weight LoL. I'm finally the slimmest one in my group of friends. People treat me differently in general. I've included a photo it's not the best angle as it's hard to take photos of myself but you get the general idea considering the amount of weight I've lost there's not a huge amount of excess skin the main area is my lower belly abdominal area!!! I really truly believe my metabolism and the way my body processes food has completely changed and it's an amazing feeling!! MIKEY xxx Feeling great 35 years young
  21. I hope I am able to give people some hope and some inspiration 😍

    Slow losers club

I'm 6 months post op I was very strict on myself for most of the 6 months literally low or next to no carbs. No sugar. High protein. Logged my food everyday. For most of the 6 months I was lucky to eat 600cal a day only recently have I started maintenance and eating more regular food and now reaching maybe 1000cal a day.. I started at 322 pre-op. 257 operation day. Lost total 152lbs in 8 months since pre-op phase and 88lbs since surgery 6 months ago... It seems every dietitian has their own understanding of diet I just personally stayed away from carbs for the most part and it seemed to work for me... Now sitting around 170 most days and in maintenance pretty much...
