    GERD causing revision

It really depends how far you are away from goal weight i.e how much excess you have? But it also comes down to how stringent you are

    Food Funeral

Personally felt the past 20 years was my food funeral and one day after scheduling surgery I just woke up and said that's it no more junk and I completely changed my diet and it's been amazing if you're able to commit to a new diet and new way of life after giving up food then go for it...
  7. They usually ask to do liquid because you're meant to be on liquid immediately after surgery anyway... Personally I decided to stay my pre-op rather early I was lucky to find a protein shake I actually enjoyed and it kept me going for months.. After I had my bypass I literally has no desire to eat real food for months and I'm glad because I'm now below my goal weight and feeling amazing... Most surgeons will say it is best to change your eating habits prior to surgery otherwise the surgery won't work...
  8. Yes I heard of a surgeon saying no if the person didn't even attempt to lose the weight asked..
  9. Thank you so much. It is amazing.

    Blood sugar issues post op

That's unfortunate. My diabetes is gone and my blood sugar was fine before I left the hospital. I think you need to see a diabetes doctor.

    Questions about Gastric Bypass Surgery

    1. It varies with each person but personally I take a multivitamin and B12 and calcium+vitD and that's all.. 2. My hair didn't fall out but it is thinner and growing slower. 3. Dumping for me is if I have something with high sugar/fat content and it makes me feel sick and or diarrhoea. 4. In the first few months you will need to chew food small enough that it doesn't bother you going down.. 5. I've always been able to drink water with my food but I try to wait at least 10minutes. 6. For me I was sore for a few days and bloated for a week. 7. I lost like 20kgs (40lb) in the first month but I was on liquid only and very low calorie; high protein. 8. You will need to eat healthy try to stay away from sugar and fat and bad carbs & that is the whole point anyway to learn to eat healthy... I suggest to do alot of research to prepare yourself. I chose to be very strict myself and I lost weight quickly. My high weight was 322. I'm now 166.

    Too much or too little?

Hello I'm from Australia also. But I'm male and in 8 months I have lost 70kgs but I've been very low calories and very strict for the most part. I'm now in maintenance at that calorie range so in my mind you'll need less calories to lose weight.... I was on max 750 cal up until very recently and I was losing very fast.. I'm now at maybe 1500 a day and stable weight.

    June 2020 surgeries

How about taking advice from people who've been through pre and post surgery and have experienced what it's like to be successful and reach their goals.

    June 2020 surgeries

Well you need to get your head right or the bypass will fail... So many ppl fail because they are not ready nor do enough research...

    June 2020 surgeries

Does the surgeon have any goals for you before you have surgery? You should be using this time to learn healthy options and make changes otherwise the bypass will be a huge shock to the system...

How much weight loss is enough?

When I first started I thought I'd be happy to get below 220 and then 200 and finally 185 would be perfect for my height of 6ft and I've passed all those goals and look and feel amazing. Started above 300 so every lb lost was good and I've ended up doing so well and now perfectly healthy BMI wise and physically. I never thought I'd get below 200 but as I passed each milestone I set myself a new target every time and it kept me focused... Now I feel great..
