Another selfish insensitive male making us all look bad... He may be skinny but his body inside will be suffering from all the junk food... The least he could do is eat in a different room.. -
Any advice for a 19 year old going into it?
New&Improved replied to 0doru0's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Welcome if you need a friend I'm here. I personally had the bypass but I needed to lose 150lbs and I have done that. Being 19 though you have to be mentally prepared for a huge change in your life where most of your friends are probably going out every weekend and socialising you'll not be as social you'll need to commit to this change of lifestyle totally to be successful and not let temptation take over. It is a good decision but a big decision I choose RNY BYPASS personally because I needed more than just sleeve and wanted better long term success as well.. The sleeve is fine if you only need to lose a smaller amount but there is chance of reflux issues and then needing a bypass anyway. Tell us more about yourself and what surgery you are thinking of and what research you have done??? -
Be very careful some are full of sugar and unhealthy

My Surgeon gave me a choice to choose my surgery: Sleeve vs. Bypass vs. RNY
New&Improved replied to AchieveGoals's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Bypass is very common and known as the gold standard these days! Nothing drastic about it. Was a very quick surgery and easy recovery. -
1 year post op- not at goal
New&Improved replied to middlet's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I disagree with people being told not to have a goal in mind or having a goal that seems unattainable... I had the bypass and I was thinking I'll be happy to get under 200 which I did then I felt I'll keep going and I started at 322 got down to 165 that's almost half my body weight gone and well below any goal the surgeon had set for me, I feel it was important for me to set different goals as I went along and there's nothing wrong with setting hard goals it will keep you focused and so that you don't get complacent and think I've done okay I'll stop now... I disagree with @AlwaysCruising it's completely fine to set hard goals and WORK your butt off to get there... I know many people believe in this new age of P.C and kids today can't even be happy to win or beat their opponents anymore... Some schools telling kids not to think about winning but I say enjoy your successes and celebrate your WINs in life... I started with a BMI of 43.6 I'm now BMI 22.4 and lost 100% EBW -
Is that much different to protein?

My Surgeon gave me a choice to choose my surgery: Sleeve vs. Bypass vs. RNY
New&Improved replied to AchieveGoals's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I personally chose the RNY BYPASS because of many reasons but yes a big one is seeing so many ppl starting with the sleeve ending needing a bypass anyway and I could only do one surgery so the bypass was the best choice for me. I've been very lucky with no complications and only a week stall here and there but still managed to surpass all my goals and currently MAINTAINING BELOW my goal weight after losing 157lb Bypass isn't that drastic the more intense ones are DS. You take vitamins with sleeve or bypass. Sleeve just limits the food where bypass changed your metabolism. -

Hello there Mike here I finally got my scales in the mail from Amazon. New fancy Bluetooth RENPHO scales and the first time I've ever seen these kinds of results and measurements before. Would like to know what people think or if there are any medical people here who can explain things??? Much appreciated. This is my lowest weight yet. -

What's healthy range for Carbs after WLS?
New&Improved replied to Puffy-no-more's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Well there's "good" carbs and "bad" carbs personally I chose to limit ALL carbs for the first month's to increase my weight loss but it may not be realistic for everyone -
My VSG pouch too big?
New&Improved replied to over65's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
If you're worried ask your surgeon for specifics like with vsg they can take out anywhere from 70 to 90 % of your stomach... With the RNY most surgeons leave just a tiny egg size pouch but my surgeon here in Australia says that's not really the best idea so he said my pouch is definitely much smaller than a sleeve but bigger than the traditional egg pouch.. -
How to know you’re full early on?
New&Improved replied to colormehappy's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Your little pouch is still healing sometimes the sensation or full feeling won't come just yet -
